Wondering if any of you know of any contests to win teddy bears. Sometimes I've seen teddy bear artists give away bears once in a while. Vermont Teddy bears enters you in a contest to win a bear of you choice just for joining which is free. Here is the link

Also this maker of bears has a game you can play to win a bear

So I came across a vintage bear with matted fur and begin to brush with a doll comb. He had hard pieces of glue like things stuck to his fur. After two brushings he had a lot of fuzz come out in the brush. Is this normal? Maybe I should have been more gentle, but I thought it made him a lot softer. Now I don't know if I should have brushed him, I guess I'm being silly. What do you guys use for brushing bears? Ever had a dilemma like this? Ever felt like you messed up a bear while cleaning it? Or am I just being real silly?  bear_tongue

Oh yes, definitely a wonderful hug of teddy bears!

I can see that you like "huggable" teddies, just like I do: I just want to pick them up and give them a great big cuddle...

Aww thanks! You can hug them anytime bear_original

I love them!  Do look all look so huggable.  My eyes are drawn right away to the panda, he is so sweet.

Thanks! He is a Fur Real Panda. He is mechanical and talks and moves. bear_original

bear_cry I had a Humphrey B Bear teddy - he became real just like the Velveteen Rabbit.  I loved him soooo much that everything just dropped off - ears, nose, hat, clothes.  Then my Mum threw him away  bear_cry

I have been trying to find one which is exactly the same - No luck yet!!

Aww! I hope one day you do fine one. I've seen a few of those Humphreys on ebay. I love their big cartoon eyes lol! Humphrey B looks like a lovable kind of bear, so I can see why he fell apart.  bear_original

Could be a carnival Teddy, one you win on a carnival or amusement park midway.

There were and still are hundreds of companies that pop in and out of business, making prizes for carnivals.

As such, his provenance is more related to where and when he was won.  What amusement park?  What game did you win?  Who did you give the Bear to when you won it?  For instance, if a guy and his girlfriend was on the boardwalk at Atlantic City when he threw a baseball to knock over the milk bottles then gave the Bear to his girl and they were married shortly thereafter, this would be a very important Teddy Bear!  Wouldn't he?  :)

For a Bear like this, his story is key.  What can you tell us about him?

A date when he was received or some other estimate of his age would help, too.

I wish I knew more about him. I bought him at a thrift store for five bucks! I named him Harold  bear_tongue

Hey!  That's a Georgio of Beverly Hills Bear!  One of his brothers lives here!  bear_original

Sitting down, our Georgio is about 10 inches tall.  How tall is yours?  He looks a little smaller but that could just be the photo.

No matter what the size he's still a cutie!  Nice find!  Probably not easy to come by since he's from 1996.

Our Georgio sits in a custom made Bear condo in the living room where he and his other Bear pals can always see the TV.  ;)

Awesome! He's 11 inches tall and he's hunched over a bit. I have to go get him in a few weeks bear_original Tell your Georgio his brother says hi bear_grin

Thanks Becky! I haven't got him yet. I have to wait patiently for a few weeks. He was hiding at an antique store among many many bears so I have a good chance of getting him.  bear_thumb

I had a cute teddy bear that I got rid of and wish I wouldn't have. I really regret it. But I found another one like him and will be reunited soon  Isn't he just the cutest thing!

He was found in an antique store with no tags. Any info on what year he was possibly made and what type of bear would help. Thanks!
