Hi,

There’s probably a simple answer to my problem. I recently made a bear using traditional gold viscose. I marked out the pattern with pencil then sewed on the line. The pencil is visible in the seams especially where I have closed up at the back.
My next bear is white and I’m racking my brains to figure out what I can use to mark out that won’t show.
Do people sew on the line? Or what do you use or would use?

Hi Everyone!

Do you have a rule for pile length to size of bear?

I can’t seem to get the look I’m going for and I’m sure it’s because I’m not brave enough with my pile length.

I’ve bought some gorgeous 15mm fushia pink mohair which is the longest pile I’ve purchased so far.  Now I’m erming and arghing over the scale of my next bear.

I’ve scoured my books and can’t find anything regarding pile length to scale of bear.

Any advice or secrets much appreciated! X

Yes I have a doll needle I’ve never attempted it before, not sure how to go about it.

Hi,

I’m currently working on bear #6. This is my first bear that’s completely my own design. My past two bears have had the same problem as this one ... a wonky face. It’s driving me mad, making it impossible to place eyes and ears.
I’ve tried re-stuffing but I still have the same issue, the gusset seams aren’t level. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Any thoughts or solutions please?! X

Lyra

Thank you! This is my third bear and I’m new to sewing so I greatly appreciate the advice.

I’m making a panda bear. I plan to join to pieces of fur cross the top third of the body but I’m concerned the seam will interfere with the joints for the arms. Does anyone have experience or tips for making a panda bear? I only just have enough of each piece of mohair so I don’t want to make any mistakes.

Hi,
I have a pattern for a 10” bear. I’m struggling to choose which mohair I’d like. Firstly, I’m not sure what length pile I should use. I’ve been looking at 12 - 15mm?
Secondly, I’m in the UK and finding it difficult to find suppliers. I was hoping to make a two tone bear, white/cream head and body and then a bold colour for limbs. I just can’t seem to find matching types of mohair for the colours and pile I want.

Is there somewhere I can find a list of suppliers?
Are there parameters in pile length depending on the size of the bear?

Many thanks,

Claire
