Thank you Maryls, looks like loads of fun. Just got to work out the time differences here so that I can see what is happening. Have fun all
Hi, I'm new to the whole online thing, please can someone tell me where to look and what an online show is???
absolutely amazing, not quite the thing to watch on a "blue" day though. Sobbed my heart out. Wouldnt it be nice if everyone had someone that loved them THAT much. have seen lions in South Africa that were hand raised and the keeper could still interact with them but really didnt expect a lion that was released to react like that.
ooohhh, 2 of my favorite things. Cooking and bears. They are really wonderful. How big are they Janet? I see on your site you make quite a range of sizes. Beautiful bears.
I made a 2" bear. I am not sure I would ever do it again, although when I look at her I am sometimes quite keen. The tail idea is brilliant. I didnt use mohair though I used Ultra suede. I just find the mohair falls apart if the bear is too little or is that just me? The smallest I have made in mohair was 3" and even that needed lots of trimming and inventing seams. If I used the South African liquid to stop it fraying it became too stiff to work with.
But your little bear is too cute.
you all sound so professional. I use a diningroom chair, on its side, with white fabric draped over it and bedside lights on either side
really ouch. Havnt dont it myself yet but a matter of time. But had a weird thought the other day. You punture your self 100's of times while sewining so why get worried about an injection???? I always cringe when I see an injection needle but keep on sewing after sticking a doll needle into my finger. Make any sense?
Another thing to think of (and this did happen). A friend of my Mom's put the pedal onto the sewing table to get it out of her son's way and the cat jumped up and got itself injured by landing on it and starting the machine, really not nice. I am so guilty of leaving the sewing machine on when not using it. And yes, the dogs lying at your feet....
Edie, comes from loads of touring on a bike. you get really inventive. also figured if you can do 3 days you can do 3 weeks. a scarf can double as a skirt. Wear you "biggest" things on the plane. Made some lovely chiffon tops and they scrunch into tiny places and really jax up an outfit. Leaves lots of space for tiny bear stuff.
thanks, it really is annoying. Can carry an umbrella,,,, could do worse with that than blunt scissors... I dont really do much on the aircraft but when getting to the destination "need" to do things. I am really trying to get down to carry on only. This time my luggage spent 2 days in Nairobi, 2 in Bankok and one in Manila. Clothing wise I am ususlly fine, most of my stuff is light weight and scrunches up small. You can also wash as you go. Toiletries not a problem. Just the bear stuff. I like going away like this becuase it is usually linked to a conference so I get to spend most of the week at the hotel which is great, no house work etc, can just sew. Oh well, maybe another hobby for traveling.
Thank you both, feel much better now. I am also impatient and it was bugging me. Sue, biker bob is Very special. My Fiance could never understand why I made tiny bears until I made him the biker. He is now as hooked as I am. In fact he found this site for me. Now there is a huge amount of respect for the little people.
I am home and finally have my washing and housework up to date. Don't need to pack again till tommorrow so had some time to add my finally finished web page. I am very proud of it although the pictures seem to take ages to open. Next time I have a bit of time to sit at the computer will try and sort that out. If anyone does go into it I would love constructive critisism. I played very nicely with the photos and eventually made a light box out of a diningroom chair and some fabric to get the lighting right.
Amazing how much you have to do and know to get into this hobby.
Very good. I have started a collection on "instructions" in things like face creams etc. One was very funny. Told you in fluent "translation" that if the cream wasnt working for you then you were eating rubish! Some of the appliance instructions have been very funny too. I used to just throw away instructions now I read them avidly.
Hi all
Been on a weird but interesting travel around the world. All loads of fun EXCEPT my blunt nose 2 inch scissors were confiscated at Bangkok airport.... These have travelled with me all over the world. Now need to replace my carry on scissors in kinda a hurry because I fly again on Friday. Any advice. I see all the folding ones but not sure I can get in the Philippines. Has anyone tried traveling with cotter pins/ heomostats/ pliers etc? Our luggage "travelled without us" twice on this trip and I am keen to get down to hand luggage only. Just the bear stuff an issue. Ok in fairness everytime our luggage got lost my poor man was more worried about the bears than our clothing. Have to love him
Look forward to your experiences
