Hello Teddy Bear Friends: I am making a bear where I want to put rosy cheeks. I know using blush wears off. So my question is, other than air brushing, how do I get rosy cheeks and it not wear off? Would using a pink Prisma color pencil work and if so do I heat set it? In other words, what product (give brand please) would you use to get rosy cheeks? Also is there a pictular way to smudge it in so it it is softened at the edges ie: fingers, Q-Tips....

Jesse is a darling dog. the world needs more people like you in it.  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub

Wow. That must be a great site to see in person.

Thanks Peter for sharing your favorite sites! I'll be busy looking through them for sure!!

Is garnet like gound up glass? Does it have the same effect as using glass? Last where to buy the garnet?

Michelle Helen

Dear Ellen: What a nice surprise to see baby bunnies. Life does go on. I have to say, when I was young, my dad helped me plant a vegetable garden. I was thrilled with I saw sprouts popping out of the ground. But as they grew I noticed several of them missing. I did not know what to make of it. Well one day we saw a rabbit in my garden eating the carrots! My dad said, "you know Michelle, if you are going to loose your garden, at least the rabbits got it...they have to eat too..," So I surrendered my garden to the rabbits!

I wrap the BBs in plastice wrap and put them in a pouch made of scrap material. I did this not because of them turning green (for I did not know that), I did it so they were not loose in the belly and fall out from the seams or when trying to sew the seam.

Now do tell Teddy Bear Friends what about buying the BBs in steal? See link below. Will they be o.k.?

Awww. I just love baby animals... bear_wub

Dear Ellen: Try "Copperhead" steel BB's. I use to buy them at Walmart. They are for air guns.  If you can't find them there, you can get them on Amazon.com:

http://www.amazon.com/Crosman-6000-Copp … 230&sr=1-2

I also read in Teddy Bear and Friends that an artist uses gravel to weight her bears. I don't know if that is heavier than the BBs or not.

Dear Sophie: What a cutie pie! What a lucky little fella he is to have found a good home!  bear_wub

Dear Emma: As suggested by several people, keep all e-mails and records of the tasks she is asking of you. E-mail her back with your understanding of what she wants done and save her responses. SAVE all e-mails like this.

By what you are describing it sounds like she is all over the place with things for you to do and changes her mind in the middle. She changes the rules Right? If so, I have to wonder if the problem is with her and her communication style.  If you feel like you have to walk on eggs shells around her it is really more evidence she has issues beyond her relationship with you.  How she treats you is also how she treats others, especially her family.  So look at it this way, it must be miserable for her to live in her own skin.

If you need this job, you may have to endure until the market opens up for you to find other employment. It really is too bad you can't report her to somebody like human resources. In most companies, this would  not be tolerated.

With that said, my advice to you is to turn the tables on her. Kill her with kindness. Compliment her knowledge. Tell her you are a sponge wanting to soak up all she can teach you. This will take her off guard and defocus off of you on to others.  There is nothing she does that you are not in aw over. Make sure she knows how much you appreciate "everything" she is doing and love her ideas. Profusely thank her all the time whenever you get a chance! Make a game of it Emma. It will break up the stress for you and I can say, if you do this right, she will move on to harassing others. It gets you off the hot seat. Never show her how much she is hurting you. Address all interactions with a cheery "thank you" and "good idea boss lady" but with the utmost sincerity. It will confuse the heck out of her and when she is not getting the response from you that she is hoping for. She will move on to make others miserable. Now caution, once you start this new behavior, she will increase her criticism of you before she backs off. It is human nature. Monkeys in experiments get food from a machine. When the machine runs dry, they hits  the dispenser. When nothing happens, they increase the tapping of the button before giving up. So too will Boss-Lady do the same. Make a game of it. Have fun with her. Go home smiling, not crying.

Well the good news is the bear is alright! Thank goodness. He must have been very scared -- poor little (or big) fella....

I made a beautiful bear out of a vintage chanel bedspread. You have to line them with a good quality muslin which makes it easier to handle. Trends come and go. I bet down the road people will want something different and you will have your cloth bears in vogue again.

Michelle Helen

Hmmmm.....You know, it makes me wonder if this man did not get what he wanted from our group. Meaning he may have had a different expectation of what our group does thus making him disappointed in his interactions with us.  None-the-less, people who want to be here will stay and will enjoy each other.  Nobody is hog-tied to the forum. As for “cage of wild beasts† comment, I am chuckling at his melodramatic flare. I wonder if he sees us frothing at the mouth ready to devour everybody and everything. He’s got an imagination for sure. So I wish this man well and hope he found a group he can enjoy.

Michelle Helen

that is amazing!!!  bear_wub  Elephants are very smart. It makes me so mad when scientist say animals don't have feelings. It is obvious they have feelings of concern, compassion and clear communication! Thanks for sharing this video.

I love Teddy Bear and Friends magazine.  Here is the link:

http://www.teddybearandfriends.com/

There are some good books written on miniature bear making. These are great to have to learn the basics:

http://www.amazon.com/Making-Dressing-M … 473&sr=1-2

http://www.amazon.com/Make-Enchanting-M … pd_sim_b_1

Though this next books are not for miniatures, it is a good book for designing your own teddy bears and for general making  tips:

I have made an anime style bear and I jointed it normally and it did not fall over. So I think you will be o.k. But if you are making the head super big with a tiny body than I think putting weights or pellets inside the body to weigh it down should do the trick.

Michelle Helen

That is such good news!!!    bear_wub  bear_wub

Michelle Helen

That is very sad. Poor little thing.  Is there another way to protect your blueberrys?

Michelle Helen

What a kind and loving person you are to take in the little birdies. The world needs more people like you in it! Perhaps calling your local Audubon Society to see if they can give you advice. Meaning how  to integrate them back into the wild so they know how to hunt and feed themselves since they don't have a  mother to teach them. Or the local ASPCA or Humane society may have ideas....

What a lovely video!
