thanks for the tips! I didn't realize until just today that this post was brought up again I would love to get some of the beaver or muskrat a way lighter color. I'll check to see if the closest city to me has a Furrier
you are very welcome! it should work well and you probably don't even have to blend it much
hello It looks like she may have used a felt marker like prismacolor which is waterproof. That's what I use or I do the shading with a diluted paint. when using the marker right after I put it on I rub it with my finger for a more shaded effect or they come in a colorless blender, just make sure to heat set it with a blow dryer on a hot setting for a minute after, hope that helps

This is soo true for all animals just the other day I sprained my ankle and the only one out 8 animals that came running to me for comfort was Little Kitty
I am definately going to look into a raw diet. On one dog forum though there was this lady that feeds her dog raw and a bone punctured his intestine I do give her knuckle bones, soup bones etc.. from the butcher for treats and she sure loves those! I'm not used to having a puppy with problems already, my first dog could eat whatever and was healthy until about 10 yrs.old arthritis set in but she lived to be almost 13 and she was just the cutest shepard x farm pup
beautiful picture and your drawings are superb!!!!
When she was first with us of course she was ALWAYS peeing in the house and now that she's potty trained I never really noticed much, eccept that she wants in and out all the time, but that could be just her, and what I seen of her urine was normal and never any blood. She's always acted healthy and very active. I brought her home today thinking maybe she would be a little mellow from being sore...... no way! She walks around with the cone on her head still rolling in the snow and her feet get sore from the dew claw removal and she don't care I think the cone bothers her the most. She cost us $488.00 today!!
I hope after this she stays healthy for quite awhile! I think I may have to look into pet insurance
AWW she does looks so sweet Linda! How inventive of you to make her little oilskin booties! and Sarah, i've seen Jack russels and how hyper I thought they where! and border collies! okay, now I'm thinking it's all puppies in general, just the bigger ones make bigger jumps etc...
Thanks sarah She's on an adolescent formula for big puppies to slow down her growth so it's easier on the joints, won't affect her full growth at the end. They said she's too young yet for a dog food that balances the ph in the urine so she's on another antibiotic for the third time. They took a culture? and sent it away to the "experts" to see what the best treatment would be for her since her body is resisting the other meds so far. when we brought her home we found out she had bladder infection and has never been free of it and we have had her almost 5 months already!
hi, I just talked to a lady at the vet about Dakota's spaying and everything went well however they found crystals in her urine. I have read that spaying can contribute to the problem and yet that's how they found them oh no! will it make it worse now? She'll be on antibiotics again for it, and if any of you remember me saying when I first got her that she had bladder infection, could that of been the cause of all the bladder infections? Anyway, I won't know more until I can talk to the vet later this afternoon.
Does anyone here have a dog with this problem of crystals? Sorry, i don't mean TT to become a dog site
I will post more pics soon Cyndee I usually have the camera on hand cause she's always doing something silly and even just watching her stand outside on the snow drifts with her head held high and oh so confident makes a beautiful picture
everything you gals are telling me is wonderful yes I love how Cesar Milan trains! He's so calm and cool and I envy anyone that can be a dog trainer, it must be so rewarding. Dakota has known the sit command since we brought her home so someone must have taught her that and she sits on command very well
Before we give her any bone or treat she has to sit and then she automatically shakes each paw and lays down
so I know she's a smart pup and does love to please. I was quite proud of her this afternoon when I came back from the store and before I was at the gate she was jumping and I said DOWN before I entered and NO JUMPING and she actually listened! so I told her what a good girl   just like a proud mama
Thanks Melanie I think I might look into finding someone if I can in Lethbridge which is 40 min. away from where I live and see if a trainer would be willing to come here into my home. I imagine it would be quite expensive but so worth as I want to start earlier rather than later. I just dropped her off tonight for her spaying in the morning and hope everything goes ok  The vet tech said that bigger puppies when their so full of energy and jumpy that their more prone to hernias. I'll have to try my best to keep her calmer after.
Thank you ladies Actually she'a quite aware that i'm Alpha but... the other 2 in the household don't correct her ALWAYS like I tell them to and she thinks their her litter mates. My partner likes to lay on the floor and let her play with him and I absolutely do not do that and I keep telling him not to and that she thinks of him as her equal or beneath her but no listen!! It's very frustrating when I'm the only one that corrects the unwanted behaviour at all times and they aren't on the same page as me
Maybe I should kick them both out and train her all by myself
She's never a mean pup but gets very jumpy happy. Sometimes she forgets herself with me in her hoppy happy moods and I correct her right away
I should add that her behaviour is NEVER aggressive but playful and annoying more than anything. She listens to me the most but I have 2 other people living here and they don't enforce my rules and I think she get confused.
It's really hard to find a good trainer where I live and they only come to my town at certain times of the year and in the beginning of having her she was a very young pup so alot of it was just being a puppy but is it still at 7 months old? As far as I know I have to wait til Spring for any trainers are available in my specific area so in the meantime I figure asking tips and reading as much as I can will help.
Thank you to all of you who have given me good advice I am determined to make her a great canine citizen
Thank you all for your input
Cyndee - She is a Bernese and she'll be 7 months old tomorrow
She has been socialized alot and loves people and and other dogs [eccept the little dogs don't seem to like her, I think it's because she's too big and overwhelming when she wants to play] She's extremely happy when she pleases me but sometimes when I want her to do something she looks at me totally confused so I have to find a way for her to understand. Classes will be great for her, she loves socializing and doing things I have seen Dog Whisperer and LOVE his techniques! What good book does he have to learn?
Thanks Daphne Her being a ham is fine
It's the jumping that drives me nuts! and everytime she does it I tie her up for a time out for a few minutes. She's a little better after that for a bit......... and she still nips our hands and she's 7 months already, all I have to say is NO BITING or I'll tie you up, and then she stops but the jumping!!! and a 73 lbs puppy jump is no fun
hello
Dakota is getting spayed on Monday along with dew claws removed and hip/joints xrays [just to make sure she's in top shape] Does anyone that has a female notice any difference in their behaviour after? Maybe more calm??
Here's a pic of her day before yesterday. She's such a ham
that's fantastic Kerry and she looks super sweet!!
I don't have a Mac but I have heard numerous times that alot of people have problems with them and that they aren't compatible with alot of things. I have an HP laptop which I have had ALOT of problems with and yet I've heard their so great! My DELL desk top is FANTASTIC and I've had nothing but great use on that one and Dell always has someone to go step by step through if you have problems and will have it picked up for you if any problems are found and deliver a new part or whole computer, no hassles with warranty. I LOVE DELL Sorry can't help you with your Mac someone here has one I'm sure
plus I'm terrible when it comes to figuring out something new, I prefer the familiar
