For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store

 Hi everyone!
I'm so excited to show you my new baby owl! His new mom picked his name ~ Bubo. He is made from recycled muskrat fur and has open/shut eyes, wire armature, jointed head and hand carved antler beak & claws... tons of work went into this little guy!
If you'd like to see more pics, I made him a special web page with all his details.

Thanks for taking a peek at him!
Hi Sandra,
Thank you for tackling this issue!
My main problem with the 5 star rating system on ebay is that a few collectors rate me on the postal systems's shipping speed rather than on how fast I ship a soft sculpture out. I typically send a bear within a couple days of receiving payment (depending on if there is a weekend or holidays at the time of payment). I would love to send all my packages by air mail, but to overseas destinations, that can mean an additional $60 to $80 on top of the free surface shipping I offer. I do offer to upgrade to air if the buyer is willing to pay for that.
Most collectors are patient with the postal system (which can take weeks to overseas destinations), but there have been one or two who have given me 4 stars based on the post's delivery time which I have no control over. I'm sure they didn't know how that could affect an artist, but unfortunately, with this new system, one or two more could be all it takes to make it so I can't sell on ebay!
It'll be great if more collectors could know about this issue!
Wow! It's amazing that they are so small! Beautiful job on such cute little bears!

So sweet! A gift she'll enjoy all her life!

I love squirrels too! Great job on the needlefelting... he's very cute!

Wow Birgitta! You are learning fast! And you'll enjoy needle felting when you try... just hold some wool on and start poking the needle through the wool into the muzzle... it felts into the stuffing so stays in place. There's lots of great info on TT about needle felting! ![]()
That is beautiful. We had our first snow too... but it didn't stay - much to the disappointment of our children! I love the first snows & anytime it snows heavily - it's so serenely beautiful!
Congrats! He's a cutie!

He is so captivating!

I sew everything by hand... I enjoy it and it's easy for me to start & stop that way. I don't have a big enough house to have a set up for my sewing machine, so I have to drag it out every time I want to use it. With three kids & homeschooling, I'd end up spending most of my time moving my sewing machine around instead of actually sewing!
That said, I do have to watch how long I sew at a time as I've noticed that since I've been doing more handsewing, I developed a pinched nerve in my shoulder and have bumps on the knuckles of my little fingers... I'm not sure why the little ones, maybe the way I hold them while sewing? So I usually break up my sewing with other parts of bear making throughout the day. Works for me so far....
Exciting! Exciting! Exciting!  Sounds like you'll have too much going on to care about whether you're sane or not!!
Congrats on your engagement & I hope you have tons of fun on your travels! And I'm looking forward to seeing your bears for sale!

Joey is beautiful Tracy! Such a sweetheart!

He is a little sweetie!
Wonderful looking fabric!
They are superb! Very creative!

Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful!

They are adorable!
I'm sure she will treasure them always!
What a cutie!
You did a great job of capturing the koala look!
Mycine is wonderful, Birgitta!
His feet are very well done & you've captured a style all your own. I like the picture with your cat too... they look like great friends!
I agree! Poor you... I had a root canal a couple months ago so I can sympathise with you. They are absolutely no fun! I hope you feel better soon... and thanks for sharing the picture of the baby raccoon! Soooo sweet!
Elaine... you are so funny!   I was serious about the visit though... come anytime. I actually had a collector come from England on a trip and she picked up her commission bears when she came. It was neat visiting with someone from another country! I'd love to meet you... it would be nice to talk bears with someone else who makes them! And you'd love the scenery... it's gorgeous up here. You may even see a bear if you came when they aren't hibernating.
Thank you Elaine & Catherine!
Elaine...
you make me laugh about the cats... my cats looked very interested in this little one, but she was very quiet and they left her alone. You can come and watch anytime... just make sure you bring your snowshoes....
I am just kidding. The snow is coming down the mountains, but we may have a couple weeks without snow still.
Thanks Lisa! I'm definitely going to have to make another... she's headed to her new home in Australia & I miss her...
But I'm happy she gets to enjoy summer over there instead of having to experience our cold weather!
She has the perfect name for her! She is a honey of a bunny! Adorably huggable!
