Cheryl
OH...oh my!!
I had a friend send me a card once that she had seen in an adult store of a rather well endowed and 'excited' teddy. EWWWWWW!
To each his own I guess. I'm curious to see how the bear sells.
Cheryl
I'm online and no coffee yet....how true!
AHHHHH, That looks better!!
I don't have my own merchant acct.'s because as previously mentioned, the costs were too high for the amount I used them. I have done several shows that offered the service but some have been good and some I thought were really high.
The BearFair in Calgary, charged a flat fee (I think about $20) to use the service and then whatever the Credit Card fee was. Other shows I have been to have charged 10% of the sale price of the bear. That's OK for the convenience of selling one or two bears but one show I paid the promoter almost $350 in fees
(it was a GOOD show !! ) on top of a large entrance fee. I might as well have given bears away! I understand that there are additional costs (like people to work the machine, etc) but I think 10% is too much! It is something that is a convenience for your sellers and the buyers that come to the show...I personally don't think it should be a big revenue generator for the promoter. Again, just my opinion.
I'm also in the 1 or 2 cheques a year category!

Thinking of you at this challenging and sad time.
Cheryl
Hi Jane
Have you tried asking the staff at our beloved Value Village if they have any damaged coats in the back?
I do this for leather all the time. Sometimes its just a torn sleeve or the hem is ratty but lots of usable yardage and they don't put them out. I befriended a staffer there and he always put the damaged stuff away for me to go thru. I'm sure we caught a few stares as this guy and I chatted - a chubby 40 something square with a bored kid in tow and a 20 yr. old with 6 colours of hair and Betty Paige tatoos!
I can keep an eye out for you if there is something special you're after.
Cheryl
Jane, I am so sorry for your bad news. I spent time in prayer for you and your family today. Although the results were not what you hoped, how proud you must be to know you raised such a strong, confident and empowered young woman who is proactive in her treatment.
Bless you,
Cheryl
I don't see how you can't be happy for your friends...I almost get as excited for my friends good fortune as my own...isn't that the way it should be?
I hope that this is a year full of good things for you Wanda! Really hard times make the victories even sweeter don't they?
Cheryl
SIGN UP FOR THIS FUN SWAP IS STILL OPEN UNTIL THE 28TH!
Gemma,
Is there going to be a gallery for all the floppy entries? I love 'distressed' bears!
Cheryl
Oh crap, there's some in every crowd!
You are a much nicer person than I would have been Mindy!
Was that wine, chocolate and flowers..... I won't have to enter and I'll still win!
Cheryl
I would send her back the whole amount (because something tells me that she would hound you for it all anyway) and cut your losses.
Make sure next time, if you didn't this time, to get it all in writing and have them sign off on it so there's no 'changies'.
I think Luann's reply was spot on and don't worry about it anymore! You are an amazing artist and 5 years from now when you are very very famous and your waiting list is 2 years long, she will be kicking herself!! Success is the best revenge!
have a great day
Cheryl
I thnk we'll have to rename the awards to the Teddy Talk Awards.
This was my entri - silly to think it could compete with all those really great entries:
Well I for one (and I know I'm not the only one!) think Petunia is just grand! Don't be discouraged, your turn is coming Tina!!
