Ahhhh Louise,
I think you misplaced your perspective, honey. :|
So I'll tell you a secret about slumps-this is from the psych nurse not the goof that posts on this site- ;)
Slumps really are important because BECAUSE (quiet all the rest of you, your slump will come)
Because your subconscious needs this time to rejuvenate. Rest. ( Being creative is hard work, even if you love it.) There isn't a true artist in the world-no matter the medium-that hasn't had slumps-many of them....really.....
Even though YOU don't perceive what is going on in that creative brain of yours, your brain does, it is taking in impressions, it is resting and it is preparing you for the next onslaught of artworkplay that is just around the corner.
All of Shelli's suggestions are wonderful. I encourage you to take them all of them=-hey why not!
Just look at how far you have come, look where you are, and you haven't peaked yet!
(I always keep that part in mind-because if we aren't continuinally improving our art/craft we really will stagnate. My dad, although not on purpose, taught me this, because he was never completely satisfied with his art and always felt that he could do better. He felt that if God gave him this talent then who was he to do a halfassed job? He had to do his very very very best, because, after all, it was for God!)
Look at this as a time of rest before you start again-and know that you will because you have so much left in you yet to give.!:D
Sending you the very best wishes and prayers

Winney
Does the name Lily Pons mean anything to you? :)
How about the BellSong from Lakeme?
Ohhhhh honey....if you can sing that I will die and go to musicalheaven
WonkydonkyDilyu
I always say if there are any other opportunities after this life I really really want to be a singer!
A real singer.
A Lily Pons singer
She is to coloratura that Arthur Rubinstien is to Chopin on the Piano, as Michelangelo is to chapel ceilings!!!
Be still my heart- If you sing for us I'll pay for your lunch!
Jane already knows how much I love her gollies-good for you Jane, sharing them here! I thought everyone woulld love to see them.
Laure did the fax come through the last time-let me know- I can always do it again
Sorry if the rings were disrupting-oops
My new little ones, they are about 3" Tall
Dilu
Huggies to all (and I don't mean adult diapers.....yet......)
Oh Danni-he is so cute your little Ratinee
so cute love the nose
Oh honestly I can not believe the bears I see here.....Sometimes it is just too much- you are all sooo incredibly talented
Dilu
Winney and Laure
There is a lot of pro and con stuff on the internet-and there were some reprints of the books-on ebay
Laure-your fax isn't picking up-I have tried 3 times-ill keep trying
Winney
What wonderful information- thank you I am going to save what you wrote and save it in my golly file
I can hardly wait to meet the 2 of you, I hope we are still on for June.
Dilu
If anyone is interested in the address to the International
Gollywog Collector's Club let me know and I will fax the info to you to
Dilu
Awww honey- except for a precious few beary people here, no one has ever seen my gollys. I have never been to a show even just to see stuff-let alone sell. So I have never had anyone complain.
The little guys have been for my delight-I would like to sell but am unsure if my style is saleable or good enough
I would do that tho- I would say say that teddy bears are really golly's best friend and that he is a wonderfully mischievious little guy that always saves the day.
PCness has gone too far and people have forgotten how to laugh- and too many people take offense where none was ever intended.....soooo.....:(
I will make copies of everything when I get off here, and fax away....hope you like it
a wonkily supportive Dilu :P
and I'm not even going to spell check!
Awwww Laure
I think you handled the situation wonderfully. My husband reminds me that if anyone complains I can honestly tel them I have 3 black stepsisters.....But I think the most important thing is that no offense is ment, and certainly that has been the history behind gollys, no one was trying to offend
As for the music, you betcha! I can fax it to you or copy it on the copier and mail it to you. Which ever way you like. I learned the piece as a child and it isn't difficult but when you play it you'll understand why it captured my 8 year old heart, and turned my life into a search for my golllywoddely soul mate...
I can also take a picture of it and try to post it for everyone else....
Let me know what you want- either way is easily done! :)
Today I designed 2 mini woggles- I want to try and make some pins-
Your little guys simply put me to shame- they are truely works of art, simply delightful-I would have bought one at the show, if I could have, thats for sure!
You are right about the politically correctness stuff-gets me in trouble all the time
Did you know there is an International Golliwog Collectors Club?
They send out a fun little newsletter and always have some great pictures-if you are interested I'll post the address
Gollyhugs to you (I still miss your face)
Dilu
Donna!!! for crying out loud-you really don't want the little fella to have a gender identity problem, do you? Quick change him, and then make him a girl friend for the fancy dancy outfit.
And then let us see before and after pictures-it'll be fun!
Di
Daphne=I thought your avatar was a surprised excited little guy - -I cant help it every time I see him he makes me giggle. He is just so darn cute!

My husband brought home a hamster for Peta Prince, one year for Christmas. I said 'she looks awfully fat-are you sure shes not?'
Oh no no no yeah right!
I made him take the babies back to the store where he got the hamster.....
I'm sorry the seahorse colts died. :(...I bet they would have been really special to see
Dilu
Yep! 100% agree......I can't sex 'em until they tell me. I end up with more boys than girls....we should get the kids together......:D
Dilu
What is the matter with you guys??? HAVE YOU ALL GONE WONKY???? :D
That's my job.
Your first babies are just precious and wonderful and have personality ( or as our Marie would say ) Bearsonality. :)
The are wonderful bears, and I wouldn't sell my first one or give him away for anything. It's kind of like your first quilt or your first child.
Wait a minute. First child...hmmmmm I did try to give him away, bout the time he was 15...no takers though, and now at 30 he's turned out to be a keeper.
But you get my point....
Wonkily confused Dilyu
Great topic Sue Ann
We have a very small house-and share it with one doberman, Duncan,
one blue and gold Macaw- Kirah
two Burmese cats; Kwatzu
the boy, and Sukisan, after my college roomate who was one of the sweetest gals I have ever known in my life.
We also have a ROOMBA- that gets used in the kitchen and bathroom and bedroom every day, while I vacuume the livingroom every day.
I would like to be able to say that I vacuume the sewing room too, however there is literlly no floor space in there cuz of the boxes. ( My honey says by the end of June we will have the storage in there that I need )
We also have the Orek air purifier- an absolute necessity in case the dog....well you know.....and I use Febreeze rather liberally on the carpet and furniture. The dog isn't allowed on the furniture-I have SOME standards.
I didn't use to be persnikity about house work, but I am now. Its the only way to keep from drowning in this house. So a little every day keeps me from having to a massive amount once a week.
Currently in this living room there are 20 stuffed bears, 5 gollykidikins, and a camel
Why a camel? I don't know-I just wanted to see if I could make one-so I drew a pattern. He sits on top of the piano with the gollys and I think they take turns riding him during the night
Outside there is a bunny that I am doing battle with-cuz he wants into the garden so badly he can taste it....and of course there are tons of deer-I love watching the deer-
They want into the garden too-they see all the roses and they really really love roses...but fortunetly the fence is toooooo high for them.
Penny, my sister used to raise food animals- she would name them! TBONE or LambChop- It was easy to not eat meat for me....
At least my mom never named the chikens-I wouldnt have been able to eat eggs
See ya
WonkyDonkyDilu
Hi Darlene
how strong is the linen thread-hmmmm
Let's say (for comparrison) that Mastex upholstery thread is a 10- won't break
on a scale of 1-10 where would you put the linen thread?
Di
I am still jazzed about your suggestion using calipers----my honeybunny just left and I am on a seek and seizure mission to find the perfect set to add to my instrument box.
Youre a gem.
Most of you know that my father was an artist-because of him I love all color. I used to say in quilting that there was no such thing as a bad fabric, you just had to find the right application. Well I feel the same way about color-no such thing as a bad color.
They are all fabulous.
I appreciate the support- the folks here give us all the courage to try something new..' re: website-I don't like the way the text came out so I will be going in this weekend to change that. It's mine for a year so I might as well work through the problems- I surely am learning alot.
Aww Laure you silly bearikins you, she always smelled like roses and lavender. Now she doesn't smell at all
Old man Moses
He smells roses
under the rose bush
Moses nose is :D
Penny One of the things about bearing that I like is coloring my mohair-I've used koolade-with fun results, Cushing's dye- (can't go wrong) and
for the PETA PRINCESS- who can't handle any real wool or fur I used the synthetic dye from Beary Cheap
Now there's a dye! The instructions said to boilcfor an hour-I boiled for 15 min. and the synthetic came out looking like Mogan David concord grape wine.
I love that there are so many aspects to this obsession to keep me entertained.
Great Big Gollywogelly Hugs to Everyone
The Wonks-Dilu
Hey there Darleen! Welcome! So glad you came.
My honey was a quality assurance engineer in the aerospace field in Santa Barbara for years and has this stuff coming out his ears.
DUH!
I never ever ever thought of using them like you suggest.
Thank you , You sweetie pie you, I always struggle with the eyes.
Huggies back at ya
Dilu
Ah Hah! Marie is only pretending she doesn't have an excellant grasp of English----"bearsonality" too cute Marie 'great word-we'll have to adopt it into our vocabulary along with wonky and hooting drains!
I'm so glad you joined us- you bring a delicate whimsy that is charming.
The wonks Dily Dilu
oh Penultimate Penny
Claude Debussey wrote a series of pieces for his daughter. One of them he named the Golliwogs Cakewalk. I learned it when I was a little kid. It is fast and fun and syncopated and, well, just gollywoggely. The music had a picture on the front, an elephant holding a balloon in his trunk and the balloon face was a Gollywog face.
I am working on an elephant so that I can change my avatar and use my golly's face as the balloon. I don't know...
but then I never thought I could get a website up, and I did, not professional, but hey it's up and running.....
And I never thought I would get a picture up here...boy did I have a headache this am but Quy, bless him forever, gave me an instruction, that wasn't intuitive to me, but I did it and voila.....oops sorry Marie; I don't have accent marks!
I think the Siegfeld Follies go on when I'm asleep-I swear everyone is in a different position in the morning.
You just can't trust the little guys and gals, but you can enjoy them.:D
Dilu
Hey you guys....
it was long ago and far away, though I do continue to play for pleasure and entertainment......and since I have gollywoggels dancing across the top of the piano I do have to play their song.....
This really is all their fault you know-but what can I say-been in love with them for
YIKES 47years :D
Gotta love life-we are all so multi-faceted and have so many layers to us. I guess that's one of the joys of growing a little older- that and more patience.
Feeling delightfully dillydally wonky Dilu
Oh you guys! You truly did lift my spirits-and I really needed that today. Thank you. Penny when you wrote old lady pink-I knew, just knew exactly the color you meant-Gosh I could almost smell my dear ol grannie, long dead these 40 years! It is a nice pale pink. I love the idea of lilac too. But it's impossible to find fault at all with a little guy made up in the wonderful array of browns and naturals we have. It's like a painters pallat. hmmm......I wonder if I could use that as an excuse to buy more mohair? Can't paint without paint, gotta have every color right?
Wonky Dilu, feeling better
So there are some fun fanciful colors of mohair out there and then all the shades of brown mohair you can imagine. Who likes the fun and fanciful colors and which colors do you like the best, and who likes alll the shades of brown you can imagine?
Why did this just pop into my mind-hmmmm-good question and I haven't an answer-I guess I am just a curiouser type of gal
Dilu:)
