"Olivia & Oliver - Luv Bug Romance" has just received a Golden Teddy Award nomination in the Needle Felted category! This is my first GTA nomination. I am so excited!
These two Luv Bugs, Olivia and Oliver, are truly enjoying a wonderful romance. Olivia is seated on her favorite flower, giggling with flirtatious shyness, as Oliver lovingly caresses one of her sweet little feet. He is kneeling before the love of his little bug life, whispering sweet romantic comments to let her know how much he adores her. Olivia and Oliver are two very happy “Luv Bugs”.
Olivia and Oliver are very solidly needle felted with a Cherry Cordial color blend of pink and burgundy Corriedale wool. All twelve of their legs and feet are needle felted over wire to allow different posing possibilities. Their heads are string jointed to allow movement. Olivia and Oliver are 3.5 inches from the top of their heads to their little bug butts. The flower is six inches across. The entire piece with the Luv Bugs on their flower is 5.5” high.
Olivia and Oliver were created for the Luv Bug Challenge, presented by the Thread Artist Guild®. They were voted the membership favorite in a Guild poll that was offered at the end of the challenge.
Hugs,
Marge

Big Congratulations to all the nominees!

Manuela,
Your Basset Hound puppy is wonderful! You did a great job creating her!
Karen, you did a wonderful job with this polar bear! I love the expression, opened or closed!
Krista, he is absolutely beautiful!!! I love Vizulas! Not as much as Boxers, but I do love them!
Great little pug! So cute!
I have to comment on this subject as well. I totally agree with Gijzette. The price should reflect the artistry of the bear, no matter what the size is.
For me, I find that the crocheted miniatures are strongly desired by the collectors that I deal with. I can put an item on eBay and have a great sale, or have no bids, but eventually the right collector will find it. I feel that the time needed to create the detail I put into my bears is essential. If this raises the price and the bear does not sell, I would rather keep it, than sacrifice my work.
The issue here is finding the collectors that are the right match for your creations. I am certainly no expert on this. I am still learning.
One of the main things that I have heard often from artists and collectors is, “Does the bear (or friend) speak to me with its expression?” If it does, the bear (or friend) is desirable, regardless of the size. If you find the right collectors, the miniatures are very much in demand.
Hi Karen,
I don't have any tips, except that comfortable shoes are a must! Crocs work well. We are going to be in the upper 80's to 90's here in central Florida this weekend, so dress light! I look forward to seeing your wonderful creations when I visit the show on Saturday.
Congratulations Laura! What an honor! Great Bear!
Thank you Shelli & Quy!
I have just added this banner and link to my website Links page.
I started sending individual emails, but there are so many wonderful nominated artists. BIG CONGRATULATIONS to All who have their bear artistry nominated! The entries I have seen are stunning!
Congratulations Shelly! Walter is one very handsome rabbit!
