YES! That's a big one for me too "NO SHOES ON THE TABLE" (slippers, pullons etc....) and no opening an umbrella in the house is another one. I think i've infected my kids with so many... as i got most of mine from my mom. We're German and German's have a superstition for everything.
You can't gift shoes either, that's bad luck.

I love Bearpile! I sold most of my bears through bearpile or they've been routed to my hp. I don't list my prices and get a lot of inquiries as well.
I find it a very good advertising tool and well worth it.

I haven't posted many bears here in the last while because i'm frantically getting ready for Schaumburg, Il. I'm so excited, not just about the show also because we are going to do some sightseeing... But I wanted to show off one bear. He has a double neck joint, made from blue tipped curly mohair and his tummy is made with white dense alpaca/mohair blend (really nice). I wanted to make his blue ears bigger but i ran out of material
so he's stuck with these ones right now.
Oh Tracey, i'm so jealous, would love to join you with my best friend my 20 year old daughter My husband doesn't travel well either. Here is one site to shows around the world http://www.creativedreams.de/news.htm. It is called Creative Dreams in case you can't get through on the link. It also has english.

Carola & Paula:
This Challenge excludes NO ONE!!! Please go to the top of page 1 to reread my first post stating the guidelines for this challenge!
To sum it up..... if you've worked with synthetics before... no problem... perhaps there is a pattern or fabric or technique you've been entertaining but haven't actually tried yet.... now is the time! The idea is to "CHALLENGE" yourself in SOME way. That's all.
Sorry Daphne, I should have mentioned why I REALLY excluded myself from the Synthetic Challenge. I decided at the last minute to go to Octobearfaire in Schaumburg, IL so the lack of time has hindered me.
I am looking forward to all lovely bears everyone is working on...

I won't be entering the synthetic challenge either as I work with synthetic as well. I wanted to show one of my synthetic bears that i've done though.
This is Quincy and Caspar both made from a really soft synthetic fabric. Both are 10" and have bent legs for sitting.

She is so adorable...i love animals and all the funny things they do.

Sorry i probably missed something, but who is the crazy picture lady? Now you've got me interested.
carola
Hi Carola! This has nothing to do with a bear club, but when I saw your post, I instantly recognized your name! I met you about 2 years ago up in Kansas when we set up our bears in the mansions. I bought two of your pieces, and had set them out just yesterday, as I'm re-doing one of the bedrooms. One of them was a little burlap bear with yellow/orange pads and a matching hat, and the other was a blue bear - laying down. I also bought a chick from the lady next to you. Ah, travelling down memory lane. Ha! What a small world.
Luann
Hi Luann,
Yes i remember you! What a small world...well i guess the bear world is a small community. Yes, i don't know if i make bears because i love making bears or so i have an excuse to travel to other cities.... Great to see you here.
Sorry everyone for popping something else into this thread.

Hey this would be a wonderful idea. We are a small group, i think 6 if we are all there and we've put our heads together and formed a bear club in Manitoba, Canada. We are so far away from other bear enthusiasts that we started our own annual bear show. Our second show is coming up on November 4th. Last year was a great success. I think i'm the only one who travels out of town to bear shows.
We are supposed to have a meeting this weekend and we do potluck and show 'n tell and talk bears. It is a great way to get the creativity going and just get going if you think you are in a rut.
Let me know if you would be interested. I can bounce this off of the group on Sunday.

You've all done such wonderful, beautiful things. I'm amazed. What a beautiful fairy baby and the quilts A couple of us want to get together from my bear group here and try a rag quilt.
I used to do my own paintings on ceramics (sorry no pics), I knit and crochet, mainly for my bears now. The only other thing i do now is make bears and i have 2 beagles that demand my time as well. They get walked daily otherwise Benny gets a little bored and tries to pull things off the counter. Oh ya and a husband too. The kids are mostly grown up so other than bailing them out from time to time i only started going back to school in the evenings to update my skills. So i'm booked.

Even with hesitation i say "How exciting!" I'll be feeling the same way when my daughter gets to that point, she's 20 now. I'm just amazed at how independent she is and yes wasn't i just changing her diaper the other day... time goes so fast.
