Sheryl

Sheryl:  what a great idea you gave me for recycling!  I buy kitty litter in 7lb containers that look just like that with the flip open lid.  Also some dry cat food come in the same kind of container.  I've used them for storing birdseed, and rags, etc...never thought about stuffing material... good for you!!!   Love to keep stuff out of the ladfill..

Wow, I never thought of looking at a pet store for storage containers. Recycling is always the best! Everyone here has such wonderful ideas! bear_flower

Sheryl, where do you get your twenty-five-pound boxes of stuffing?

CR Crafts has it for $54.12, here is the link

Sheryl,
Picture????  bear_happy  Sounds like a great solution!  bear_thumb  I love to walk through building supply stores and find things most definitely NOT made for bear making and adapt them to my needs. Hubby loves it that I'm perfectly happy to go along with him (most of the time!) when he needs something. In fact he's started thinking like a bear maker when he goes there too and sometimes brings home the craziest things for me!

I have a big wicker hamper with a hinged lid that I made a cloth liner for.... it holds LOTS of stuffing and it so handy. It's also light weight so I can carry it to the basement where the BIG box of stuffing is for a refill.

I like your idea. You could have it sit out and it would look nice in the house!

Sheryl

Hi all I just thought I would share this tip with you. While shopping at Lowes I came across a Kingsford Charcoal Kaddy. I looked at it and knew it was the perfect storage container for my 25 pound box of stuffing... No it does not hold all 25 pounds, but it is perfect for inside the house. A top section opens up, lid stays on, and it is the perfect for reaching your hand inside and getting what you need. It is an 18 pound container and I stuffed a ton of stuffing inside it! bear_grin The container was $12 here in CO, I thought it was well worth it! :teddybear:

For those of you that have bravenet.... At this time I have the free web but I was thinking about stepping up and paying. What I was wondering is, do you get more choices of layouts, or just no ads? I see everyone web pages and they are all so pretty and professional and mine is pretty boring! Please let me know if the upgrades are worth it. Thanks

bear_sad My heart just dropped and I cried when I read your story. Both sad and happy tears. How can anyone do that to a living creature. That poor dog now has a loving a safe place to live. I am sure she/he is forever grateful for your saving its life. Way to go! bear_wub

Hi Sheryl

I buy mine at Walmart, though it comes in a 5 pound box instead of a big 25 pounder.  I think it's about $14 for the box.......it's Morning Glory brand, which I love........adds up to a little less than CR Crafts, plus no shipping if you just pick one up. bear_thumb I find that the 5 pound box lasts quite a while, but then I'm slow with my bears.  You might want something bigger........

Hi Tracy, I cannot shop at Walmart or Sams. It is a long story but I will not give them my business. I do like the idea of a smaller 5 lb box!

I buy mine at CRsCrafts also because I like their stuffing best of any around. I used to be able to get it locally but the store I bought it from stopped carrying it.

Daphne, do you get the cheaper or more expensive one?

I buy the economy fiberfill in the 25 lb. box at CRs . . . it costs $54.12.  I like the way it stuffs better than the premium.

Thank you as that was my first choice but I thought maybe it was not as good. Can I ask what makes it better then the premium? I really appreciate all of your help. bear_wub

Hi All, I found bulk stuffing at CR Crafts 25 lb for $83. Does anyone know where I can find it cheaper? Thank you

Sheryl

At least some of you have studios... My "studio" is my living room.. It is soooo hard to get anything done. I have to really focus and there are very few days I can do that. This is the main reason no one sees my work.... BECAUSE I HAVE NOTHING ORIGINAL bear_sad . Someday I hope to have a room of my own so I can shut off the world and create! bear_ermm  Someday it will happen bear_wub

Sheryl

Hi all, I know I saw a link somewhere to make reservations at the San Diego hotel for the 2009 show. Could someone point me to that link? Thanks a bunch!

Sheryl

Wow.... I cried my eye out when I watched that. To see him HUG like that... wow, that is true love bear_wub

Sheryl

I just tried mine and cannot get on. Maybe they are working on it... if it last too long then I will get upset, otherwise I will just hang in there.

Sheryl

bear_wub  bear_wub  I want to THANK YOU ALL for all your helpful information.  bear_wub  bear_wub

After reading all the posts I went to our local thrift store this morning and got a few outfits to create with. I had planned on "celebrating the living" and remembering the "dearly departed" I just did not know how to go about dealing with "death" part. The outfits (and a table cloth) that I bought will be my demos. I took pictures of the outfits and will take pictures of the finished bears. Then come up with a brochure. I already have the business cards.

You ladies have given me much food for thought.   I am off to a great start!

If anyone has any more ideas, keep them coming  bear_flower

I thought of a couple more ideas.  Advertise on your website and leave cards/brochures at funeral homes.  My memory bear is for a baby that will be born by c-section in a couple of weeks.  The daddy died unexpectedly a few months ago and the mom wanted a bear made out of some of his favorite items for the baby to hug and cuddle . . . so, of course, it is child-friendly.  I'll email you some photos when it's finished.

My heart just sank when I read that story. What a wonderful thing the mother is doing. I know I will hear many sad stories in this business, but if I can bring happiness in the end it will be all worth it. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to seeing the finished bear
