I think this could go either way - some of my bears done in scenes I would not want to separate but wait for the right buyer who wants the whole thing. Others, it might not matter - really depends on what the scene is. If it is something you wouldn't mind separating then I think that is a great idea to offer it both ways. I think it is nice to do bears both ways and then you have more to offer to collectors - some like just the plain bears and some appreciate all the extra work that goes into a vignette.

Hi Helen,
Not sure about the signing up problems you're having but wanted to say that Bear Pile has been very good for me. I like the fact that just pay your monthly fee and you can then sell as many bears as you want. Even if they don't sell right away I see it as good advertising for not much money.

Another gorgeous little bear, Pauline!

I have just listed this little guy on Bear Pile. He has a vintage look, made of sparse mohair, fully jointed (loosely), and wearing a tattered vintage rayon ribbon with an old key.

Thanks, Thelma!
She's off to France! Wish I could hide away in the package with her! I just realized that a LOT of my bears have gone to places that I will like never get to myself!

Just finished another little mohair bear - 5 1/2" Camilla. She is made to look vintage with loose limb joints and staining on her paws and foot pads and ears. Her attached dress is made of antique fabrics and she has a vintage bow by her ear.1343783356_camilla_1.jpg1343783384_camilla_2.jpg

Thanks everyone! I am pleased that he sold very quickly - in fact had two people who wanted him!

Does anyone know what happened to the TBAAF web site? I was on there a day or so ago and now today it seems to have disappeared and the voting on their latest contest was to start to today. I tried emailing Lanie and Darren and the email was returned!
One more teddy venue bites the dust?????

I love bear fairs but haven't been to one in a long time now - none a reasonable distance from me anymore. What I really liked was going to one that was a FULL convention not just a sale as then there were so many other things going on that selling bears was just a small part of it and not your total focus, and therefore totally justifiable even if you didn't sell a lot!
I have so often seen sellers that are SO unapproachable - although not as often at bear shows as at antique shows. Really makes you wonder what they are thinking!  I should have to work so hard to find out if they will sell me something from their table/booth???
This discussion reminds me of a teddy bear show back in the early days. I had seen some bears, entered in the competitions, by an artist I wasn't familiar with and just fell in love with them so when the sales room was setting up looked for her intending to buy one of her bears. Well, she just totally put me off by her pushy, "I'm the best", manner and my desire for a bear died on the spot! Throughout the events of the convention, I got to know said artist a little better and realized she was a very nice person - just very shy and overcompensating for that and not at all like what my first impression was! I did end up buying a bear from her - which I still have and still love, but if I had been a collector there for one day, and not a seller there for the whole weekend, I would likely not have ended up with one of her bears!

Becky, I think you are talking about Ken Yenke. He has a column in Teddy Bear and Friends and his email is:

The brown bear in your first post is a Berg bear from Austria. He is absolutely wonderful! What a great find!
