Some times I think my head will explode with ideas. Ideas seen to come from everywhere. I am a childminder and one of my mindees came the other day with cute pigtails I was studying her thinking you would make a lovely bear . Hannah
Hi Pauline, I love this little bear have seen her on Ebay she is beautiful. Hope to see you at Pudsey again in October. Hannah
This is Lucy a Westie commission Make. Hope you like her I am dreading the having to give her away part. Hannah
Good glad I could help, just to clarify I insert one eye bringing ends out inder neck then the other and I then pull both eyes in at same time to give you even depth. When I do my eye sockets i insert strong thread up though neck to eye position back through eye position through nose bridge to other eye position out and back in eye position and finally come out at neck and pull the ends in as tight as possible and tie off. This makes your nose shape more defined. Hannah
Your eye placement is the same as my method, but I always do my eye sockets first in the same way as you insert the eyes, this takes pressure off your eye loops, I wonder if your problem maybe that the backing fabric is so much looser than what your used to, I would try making the gap between your ends that you tighten and tie off a bit bigger as close to neck as possible so as it is hidden. I hope this helps and I have understood your problem properly. Hannah
Thanks Katy, that explains it perfectly. Hannah
This is my latest WI member Violet. Hannah

Would love to have a go at felting footpads for a bear but not sure what base I would need etc etc.
If you are making a normal bear you can needle felt footpads into your ultrasuade, you just role a ball up and needle felt it in, you can do this on the face aswell, I have never learn't how to needle felt properly just tought my self rightly or wrongly, I use it like a clay and just mold it to how I want it, another thing I have done is use the sparkley angelina fibre you can get to make fairy wings and needle felt that in to get a shimmery look, if you are flat felting you can iron to get rid of the whispy bits but I quite like them. Hannah
I to finish the head completly first to hide any threads, I sew the nose first, then needle sculpt the head then attach the eyes, ears I leave till very last. Good question by the was its facinating to see how other people do it.Hannah
So beautiful. Hannah
That sounds a fantasic project, when I was at art colledge I made a massive tuder building hanging for a competition, we had to make a hanging that represented are idea of Shropshire england where I am originally from. I made a big Tuder house with thatched roof and the front of the house opened up to reveil a shropshire landscape the roof lifted up to reveil a gold threaded spider web, looking back making that hanging was just the same feeling as when I make bears now, a constant flow of artistic ideas and a constant delief that it would work out. I think that hanging is in my mum and dads attic somewere though if I ever found it it would probably not be as good as I remembered. Hannah
He's lovely for your first go, I love needle felting not made many figures mainly mini hats. Hannah

Thanks for all your wonderful replies, someone made a comment that they looked like WI ladies and it would be funny to do a WI calander with bare bears, that made me giggle. Loved making these ladies and will definatly be making more Ladies do lunch, it was lovely making the coats as I have some beautiful vintage fabrics and I found a fab web page showing 1920 style hats to inspire me.
