I use a huge sketch pad abnd start drawing and erasing and erasing and drawing...

when I have her the way I want her then I draw out on typing paper the limbs the way they will have to be for ease of sewing and still getting the look I want- then from each limb I extrapolate the pattern and sometimes make a plastic template pattern, if I think I will make more than one....but I never do so why I bother is beyond me.

Are you lookiong for a better design method?

Take into concideration how your particular mind works....we are all so different that "following directions"  can frequently be beyond our control-because of how we reason and think....(2 intirely different things)

Since I have spent so many years with this monkeymind I have a pretty good idea how to get it to do what I want.....

well sometimes

oops, I  didn't intend  for my words to be  taken like this, so for this I apologise.  On re-reading what I wrote, OUCH!! I was terribly wrong.  I think it is sad, that another business devoted to
teddies has gone into closure.

I shouldn't have been in such a hurry and should have taken the time to phrase my words more sensitively.  And to reread.

so I apologize to the board and the editors of this magazine as well,  I was more excited for Bobbies good article and wasn't thinking about the pain the owner must be feeling as he or she closes the doors.....

Another example of unintended consequences of being in a hurry. Not thinking through what one is typing   and so on.  Nevertheless, I own my culpability and apologize.  As I am sorry and truly did not mean to cause any more pain.  It is sad to see such loss to the entire Teddy world.

Excellent choice, my dear!!!!  She is adorable and looks like a friend in need and you fit the bill!!

And you will find you feel so much better after you complete this adoption......

Of course I predict you will go through this traumatizing situtation again, however, we all know the cure....ok not a cure, a palliative treatment......

great big hugs, you dear thing..... You just keep on adopting whatever teddy grabs your heart and have fun!

Now what will she adopt next time?????

What?  Gemma are you still feeling guilty?  Tell you what, honey, so you don't feel greedy you just pick out your favorite bear and send it to someone deserving....hmmmmm....like ME!!!

OK  seriously, you really gotta get over the guilty thing.....best cure for something like this is to face your fears head on.  So???? whatcha gonna buy?

bear_grin

Dilu

2 Pfaffs workhorses and embroidery
bernina lovely machine
2 singers; treadle and featherweight; featherweight is wonderful
1970 Riccar-doesn't work yet.

Were I you, I would buy used and that way have a higher grade;  like the highest grade machine from 4 years ago

you can learn alot from watching the sales on e-bay and the googling the machines you see

also there are machine mechanics have written up what they like about different makes...you can google and find them; makes very interesting reading.

Have fun!

I think from the ether---I pour a doll and when I remove her from the mold I begin planning her future...My last doll came about because of a picture of Akermann's a designer in the 1800s....I loved the court dress he had done up so I tried to stick to his original design.

The ideas are from everywhere, they pop into my head and I start planning: how to do-is it possible, do I have the supplies?,whats her name, does she have s story....

commercials, book names, people I know, everything and anything can give you an idea.

You don't have to act on every idea, you can let it sit and perc along in your brain.

I figure when its time she will flow together.

I say go for it Lady....let the imagination roll!!!!

Oh Jane,  you will be missed as will your kritters, but I love that you are doing lampwork!
How fun and what a great challenge!

Best wishes on your new endevour- I understand that glass beads can be quite the trick to learn, but oh so beautiful....I like collecting them....but will stick to porcelain....

I am not sure what it is you think you need to learn camera wise, those beads are simply gorgeous-and who wouldn't be thrilled to ownb one of those peices!  You certainly have a talent for this!

Congrats to all our friends in Australia!  Love to hear the We-fought-bigbussiness-and-won!!!

would that we could do it here..

.

here you vote something in and if a judge doesn't like it he does away with it....hmmmm Judicial, legislative and executive.....hmmmmmwhere in the constitution does it say that judges make laws.

it doesn't  unless its the supream court!!!!!

we are so messed up right now

Dilu

Well as long as you have supplies to keep doing what you do, and food on the table then its never too soon....Perhaps saving up is good for the soul, I don't know, but when it comes to getting an artist bear from someone you really like, its probably better to go for it as soon as you can.....and remember, this is an investment!    sounds good, though, doncha think?

Well said Sue Ann.....

I can certainly understand your feeling wary.  The nature of the way boards like this function can seem  slow and cumbersome....even when everyone is moving as fast as possible..  As in any society there can be 1% of our members who are not nice. ( actually I think less than 1%)  When we started we believed, naively, that we were all adults.  We had no idea!  Admin. acted as quickly as humanly possible.  The posts were removed, the rules followed re: FB.  And there are new rules in place for something we never imagined we would see happen, the active baiting and cruelty we all witnessed.  But, in true TT fashion we have learned from this incident, and it will not be allowed again.

We are relatively new as a board, 2 years, and every time we experience a situation we learn from it and tighten up the loopholes, strengthening the rules, to protect people just like you, whom we truly want to be participating and enjoying this board.

None of the administrative people are on the board full time.  Everyone checks in frequently.  I would encourage anyone who receives a PM that is unkind, cruel or worse to contact one of the Help Advisors ASAP.

I am really glad that you are still with us, and reading and hopefully enjoying and learning, that's the whole point, its why we spend so much time here.  I will be even happier when I see you put your toe back in the water.  My belief is that we can't let people like FB and a few of her ilk, control the board and take the fun away from the rest of us.  So consider diving in, I am sure you know things we can learn from you just like you are learning from the others here....this place really cuts the learning curve down to practically nothing....pretty remarkable!

gollyhugs

++++

Dilu

Hey there Hi there Ho there

Welcome

I don't feel guilty, but I do miss the girls when they go wandering off to a new home.  I have quite honestly built up a whole persona for each one whilst working on them that I miss them when they are gone.

and add into the mix all the ones who haven't been adopted out and just sort of hang around and the interactions, well its quite a rowdy place, One would think the permanent members of the family would  want to get rid of some siblings.

ah  well...keep at it teddygirl, your needle work is absolutely superb, stunning, breath taking, pricking at my conscious as I have some needing finishing.

Dilu
