Sheila,
I just sent a "mock-up" ad to Kellie so she could check and see if my digital quality is good enough - you could always try that or else just email Kellie and maybe she can tell you - it doesn't sound to me like 60-70 kb would be big enough though. Your other option would be to get a photo printed and send hard copy and let them make up the ad for you.
I am really hoping that lots of TT'ers are going to do this. It will be my first ad with TB&F if I do go ahead with this - can't wait to hear back from Kellie! I would really like to do my own ad so I am hoping what I sent her will work - otherwise I will have to send a photo and let them do it but I am a little worried about the time factor if I have to start snail mailing things *grin*

Well, in addition to a number of things already mentioned,(like the alligator clips - couldn't be without them!), I use bamboo skewers for stuffing my mini bears. (Mini chopsticks! - I snip off the pointy end to make one thinner end and one thicker)  I also use some with the pointy ends too as they come in handy if I need to poke a hole to put in an eye. And I use these sticks to do most of my turning of tiny pieces - works like a charm!

Great job, Shantell! She really was cute before but the changes have given her a whole new look and a little more pizzaz! The standing photo is really a great pose!

Way to go Diane! What a great bear! And a great price for her too! No need to justify - call it an investment! (and so much cuddlier and more inspiring than stocks and bonds! - also more likely to go up in value)

Laura, I have had Spybot on my computer for some time but still had some problems. Our local computer repair guys recommended Ad-aware (in addition to Spybot) as they said it will catch some things that Spybot won't. It is also a free download. I try to run them both regularily and do catch more things with Ad-aware than Spybot. I was ready to junk my computer because of all the problems I was having but it is much better now - still have some problems but I know some of them are due to our internet provider and we don't have any other choice where I live so that I just have to put up with.

P.S. Forgot to say, I have the AVG free download antivirus and the free Zone Alarm Firewall as well and everything works fine together!

Now that would be a REALLY fun class to take - just seeing what everyone else did to "recreate" their bear and the ideas everyone could share! It would be a barrel of laughs I'm sure - can just imagine some of the comments!

3pandassized.JPGPanda-sized.JPGJust finished this wee panda and am quite excited about him! I made him with wired arms - no joints, just the wiring -  but I did do jointed legs. He is only 1 7/8" tall. Now I have to decide if I want to sell him or keep him - plus I still haven't got a name for him - sometimes it seems like thinking up the name takes more effort than making the bear! Anyway, thought I'd post him here while I decide!

Bear hugs, Edie

I've got two more done - basically from the same pattern, but different fabrics and finishing touches and they all look so different! I'm adding a photo showing all three - none have names yet, must get out the baby name book and see what I can come up with!

edie

Great name, Heather! I can just picture the "fur flying" and finished bears emerging at record pace!! *grin*

Check the bears for sale on this site, or check on ebay - you can find whatever you want there! You don't say what size of bear you want???

As long as you remember that both PayPal and ebay will address you personally using your name - rather than with "dear member" you will know instantly that the message is bogus. Never click on a link in such a message if you are unsure - go to the PayPal or ebay site and check it out there.
I know it can be unnerving to get these messages - especially the first time - I remember just being in a panic the first time I got one saying my PayPal account was being shut down unless I clicked on the link and responded even though I was about 99% certain it was bogus!

Hi Tammy,
I went and looked at the auction and I think I may have figured it out. I wonder if that auction had a reserve on it - then he might have kept bidding in higher increments to try to get to the reserve??? (I know it used to show in an ended auction that the reserve had been met but don't know if it still does or not as they have made some changes and you can't even see what the start price was any more - just how much the first bid was). If there wasn't a reserve then I don't think any of his further bids would have showed until someone bid higher than he had - but it wouldn't really make sense for him to bid that way unless he was trying to get over a reserve. I noticed it shows him with the 2 last bids but they are the same amount so that would mean he had the top bid and then bid again to protect it in case someone else bid higher than him but it doesn't show the amount of that bid as he didn't need it to win the auction.
Does this make sense to you???

This sounds like a good opportunity - I have emailed you Kellie and am thinking about taking the plunge and doing an ad! I like the idea of being a part of the TT group in this. (Don't suppose we can pay by PayPal ????)

Oh I love to read! I've also read a lot of the books mentioned here - probably like mystery/suspense the best but read a wide variety of others as well. Several authors not mentioned yet that I really like are Lee Childs, Nelson DeMille, Linda Fairstein, Greg Iles, Elizabeth George, Iris Johansen (although not her earliest books), Mary Higgins Clark (not so much her later books!), Barbara Parker, Stuart Woods.

Also LOVE Maeve Binchy, Diana Gabaldin (Outlander series), and Amy Tan (Joy Luck Club), and Harry Potter (I know it was mentioned but they are SO good I just had to mention it again!). Another author we have just discovered and think is great is Alexander McCall Smith - #1 Ladies Detective Agency series, Sunday Philosphy Club, 2 1/2 Pillars of Wisdom - great stories and so well written. I would highly recommend them to anyone who hasn't tried them.

I mostly read for escape so really like fiction but also do read a fair bit of non fiction - as in self help books (oh no, another TT'er who is less than prefect, Deborah!) and Sylvia Brown which I find fascinating, as well other books on psychic and paranormal. Also enjoy books on true stories, like "Paddling to the Amazon", and "Walking across the Sahara Desert" - sorry I can't remember the authors right now and this is long enough anyway!

just that his bidding methods seemed odd.  He keeps bidding against himself and really jacks the price up .

Tammy, I am a little puzzled about what you said - how can he jack the price up bidding against himself?? Or is he using more than one ebay identity (which would really make me uneasy, but how would you know?)?? No matter how many times he puts a bid in, the price won't increase unless someone else is bidding against him will it?

I can certainly understand you being cautious - sounds like good advice from the others on here.

Oh yes, Shantell, I have done makeovers on bears several times when I haven't been happy or gotten a good response to them - repositioning ears and/or eyes, more facial sculting, turning them into distressed bears, sex changes (okay that one is mostly just accessories lol!) and I think the results have been a big improvement almost every time! I remember one bear that I kept doing changes on until I was almost ready to throw him out but I finally got it right and sold him!
Good luck and just keep trying!

So sorry to hear your sad news, Aleta. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

REAL LIVE MICE!!! And your holding them in your hand!!!!

Sorry, I just can't share everyone's enthusiasm. Living in the country where mice get into everything they can has given me a different perspective on them - not that I had any great liking for them to begin with, lol! When we first moved here they got into my car and built a big nest in the trunk using the insulation from the hood of my husband's car. They also got right down into the air conditioner and built nests in there and it cost us hundreds to have that all fixed. Turned on the barbecue one day and within minutes, 2 little half singed looking mice came crawling down the base from a nest they obviously had right under the burners. Started the clothes dryer one day and heard the most awful rattling - kept checking inside and found nothing - turned out that mice were storing seeds, etc. in the exhaust hose and the fan from the dryer blew them all out into a little pile outside the house. Fortunately they haven't managed to get into the house yet and we have put wire mesh everywhere we can think of to keep the little rascals at bay!
Well, okay, I do have to admit they look kind of cute - but I still don't like mice! At least not real ones - the stuffed toy type are adorable!

Oh, he is SOOOO adorable - it would be just like having a little pet bear!!!
