Thanks about the purse!

Thanks Mary,
It really is a long process, and when you take into consideration, that we live off the grid, and I have to heat water & use a hand crank washer to do the wet felting part, & spend quite a while doing that part...but I do love making them...

It's that crazy herb lady again.....
There are 2 products I know about that are made by Herbs Etc. For this kind of problem. One is Mullein/ Garlic Ear Drops & the other is Congest Free. Here is some info about them from the Herbs Etc web site. http://www.herbsetc.com

Mullein/Garlic Ear Drops FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY. Specific to prevent or reduce middle ear infection (Otitis media). Acts as a gentle bacteriostatic, helps to reduce pain and assists in establishing the proper acidity/alkalinity ratio of the ear area.
Ingredients: Mullein flower, Garlic (fresh cloves and oil), in a base of Olive oil and Vitamin E.
Dose and usage directions: Warm the oil to body temperature, put 1-4 drops in each ear, insert sterile cotton in each ear to prevent dripping. Repeat every six to eight hours.
Contraindications: Not in perforated eardrums.
Warning: FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY. Do not use in ears with perforated eardrums.
Congest Free™ (Ephedra Free). For sinus congestion with hot dry membranes, headache, pain, pressure and heaviness in the sinuses, low fever, blocked ears, earache and even bleeding nose from dryness. Take if mucus is thick, if it is difficult to blow your nose and if it feels like your head is in a vice-like grip. Good to use when you are congested and must travel by plane.
Ingredients: Xanthium fruit, Cassia twig, Magnolia and fresh Grindelia flowers, Chinese Mint leaf, Cubeb berry, Eyebright herb, Chinese Lovage root, Osha root, Cayenne fruit.
Dose: Take 30 - 40 drops in water up to four times a day.
Contraindications: Do not use in pregnancy or while breast-feeding.

I have used both these products in the past & they really can help. I used to work for them years ago, but not in many years...but I still swear by what they make.
Disclaimer: This is just what I have done in the past for a similar problem.

Charlotte,
Your ears must be twitching, as you have been in my thoughts. Firstly that bag is great !!!!!!!!!!!!!
secondly on the thread about the drop handle- what have you got me into !!!!!!!!!!!! My drop handle arrived- and never mind it producing wool- it produced a lot of giggles. Yikes I must go back to the post where you demonstrated it.

Lynette

Dilu,
I have seen the attachments you can add to an old sewing machine..but the machine has to have some major changes made to it...up to fancy specialty felting machines...and none are inexpensive. The idea for Needle Felting came from someone seeing the big industrial felting machines with tons of those needles in them, thinking that by taking single needles, they could do sculpting...thats the story as I know it...

Shelli,
You know I do custom orders...you just let me know size, color, pattern etc...and we can certainly work something out just special for your needs...I am really loving doing these purses...would be a great pleasure to coordinate a special purse just for you.

Hugs &

Hey Dilu,
The needle felting machines are basically for flat embellishing... not dimensional work. I don't have one, but I have studied them, and I know folks who have the machines...they do flat stuff with them.
Hope this helps.

IMG_2349b.jpgI finished another purse today, and since it is for inventory in a local Art Studio Tour this coming weekend, figured I would put it here.
This is a purse I started by spinning merino roving into yarn. Then I knitted an oversized purse. Next I wet felted it in hot soapy water til it was well felted. After it dried, I made 3 calla lily flowers by needle felting them, then needle felted them onto the purse & needle felted the stems on. I made a beaded button for the closure. I am really enjoying making these purses, however it is a long process.
