Oh Louise, you are a kindred spirit. When I get hot flashes I'll go outside in the snow. It is heaven....I look like a nut outside in 20 degree weather but hey who cares? Picture a a women in a pink bathrobe (only for the neighbors sake- decency issue) fuzzy slippers with a diet Pepsi in one hand, fanning myself with the other. My Michael, who has lived with me 21 years, keeps complaining he is freezing, since he goes to bed at 9:00 pm and I don't saunter into bed until 2-3 am, I get the last say on the thermostat....Lucky me....
I have stood in front of the freezer too....oh the creative things one must do to stay cool.
But dear Louise, my wonderful doctor placed me on a nonestrogen based medication to help with the hot flashes. I can't take hormone replacement because of being a cancer survivor and it is not recommended for me. But, I can say that medication cut down on hot flashes by about 90%. I can sleep through the night and not wake up soaked to the bone. Nor do I break out in a pouring sweat in the middle of a business meeting (that is awful). Ask your doctor about what, if any, would be good for you. There is no need to suffer. Now I still get them but not as bad or as often. I still go outside in winter weather for I find that is the quickest way to cool down. In the summer, the freezer is my best friend.

If you are looking for books in your country and can't find them, go to a large well known book store and ask them to order it for you. I did that once with Barnes and Noble. They had to order the book for me from the UK. It is worth a try.
For sculpting, I understand Nancy Tillberg has an online course where you can print out the course for reference. I hear it is very good. I might take it in the future. Here is the link to look at the courses she offers:

Jane: That is a great website on 24. Boy can't wait for January to see a new season. Does you son know if there are contracts out for 2008 and 2009 for 24 to continue? I hope this is not the last season.....Do let me know if there will be more after 2007....

Oh Sandi: what a nightmare for you and your little girl. I worry about my parents in that God forsaken state called Florida. It is the hurricanes I worry about. I wonder what would happen if they too lost power. They are elderly and the heat and oh I can't imagine, the unspeakable --looting....But at least for you and your family, you are back with power. Thank goodness your neighbor was kind to you.

Lena wrote: Horse hair is great and comes in many colors. I love it. Use only the tail hair.
Lena: Do people sell horse hair for crafts? If so where can one buy it? My friend gave me some years ago but I don't live near any horse people (well I do, I just don't know them).

Dear Sandra: I am so sorry about your dog passing away. There is nothing I can say that can ease your pain. We are all here for you. I will say a prayer to Saint Francis of Assisi (Patron Saint for animals) to take care of your dog for you.

Renae wrote:Yes, Michelle, I know a lady in wombat rescue over there, impossible to move a wombat burrow. It missed them, but badly burned the area right around them and they are flooded with injured animals. It really hits the wallabies, simply because they can't stand much stress.
Renea: Animal rescue groups are such a blessing really for those animals that are injured. thank goodness thedh wombat burrow was missed. Is she able to make sure they will be o.k. given the area is burned? Oh It is heartbreaking isn't it.....Any news on the wallabies? The picture looks so horriable!

Oh Bronwen: That is good that people and vets help. It breaks my heart when I hear about things like this. So many people and animial suffer so....Nobody talks about the animals though. I would love to hear about a success stories or news on rescues.

Oh Jane, I just bought season five of 24. I love to watch it all together without commercials. Have all five seasons!
If you have not seen Boston Legal, please get the DVD. William Shatner was once a brilliant attorney and has the best law firm in the country but he now has Alzheimer’s disease. He does weird things that send the partners scurrying around to fix them. They need him there as a figure head. James Spader who plays Allan Shore. He is just shy of doing things illegal to do the right thing for his clients. Oh it is too good not to watch.....I think you can buy season one right now. Really fun to watch.
For the Unit. Boy that is good. This unit is highly secret and only answers to the President of the United States. The do missions and so forth.
Now you mention Prison Break. I have yet to watch it but I bought Season One. I have to find time to begin this series....
Michelle
awww....too cute
Oh Susan: what a terrible thing to be happening. It is very sad to hear about your friend and neighbor.
I often wonder (afraid to ask) but what about the wildlife. Are there animal groups to help those hurt in the fire? I almost don't know if I can read the answer....The news never talks about the animals even in the USA when we have fires like that.
Do keep safe and let us know about the updates
