Thanks Daphne for the encouragement..Okay, I'll try a purple, no promises anyone will be able to see him LOL.....how can I go past a brown bear though?? LOL It's worth a try, I'll give it a go. It's a nice purple Ratinee - I loveeee Ratinee.
Any other Ratinee fans here?
Danni
Ooh Millie, what you have done for the horse is amazing! She (he?) looks like a different horse now!! Amazing.

Hi Darleen,
Welcome to the group, again I'm sure you'll love it here.
I just checked out your webpage - it's really well done! what adorable bears your make! You'll fit in really well here, I can tell!
Hrmmm don't get me started on this subject. I have made quite a few bears now, and not one, I repeat, not one has been a girl. I guess I like my bears sorta dorky looking with big noses, so that's probably why.............
Hrmmmm see what happens when I open my mouth and go to bed LOL Daphne, you've hit the nail on the head.. Chuffed means.. ummm happy, not really in shock, just really happy with yourself LOL....
You girls are too funny :P
Danni
Oooh Marion, what a horrible story about your Grandfather, like you said I'm sure he didn't mean to offend you. Still would have been terribly upsetting.... At least you have a story you can tell your children LOL
Ooooh another good topic, you guys are on a roll!!!!
I'm pretty boring, I LOVE browns. I think there's nothing better than a brown bear! LOL But then I have made bears out of whites (of course), golds, oranges. My fav bears are browns!! I was flipping through my sample pack and I spotted some lovely purple ratinee. Am I going to be game and purchase it ?? I think so, because I know it's far fetched, butttttt it does look rather natural - not too bright!!! I have to say, I love a natural looking bear, but I have something for orange bears at the same time!
Dilu - went to your webpage - is it new? Love the Igloo house - soo cute! i had fun looking at your bears and gollies.
Oooh this one is totally up my ally!!!!! I loved reading all your posts about animals... great stories, especially Sue Ann. I ran away when I was three with my sister, but that's another story!
Let me see, at the moment we have 4 indoor cats, 3 cockatiels, a dog, and my sister has a very annoying (but cute) Ringneck Parrot. Outside we have bunnies. Lots. We've been keeping rabbits since I was about 9 or 10 - showing and breeding them, a long time. So, yeah, you could say I'm an animal person. You would think that growing up having heaps of animals around the house would mean you would be satisified with what you have? Not so.. I want more, always want more LOL
Ooh Laure, did you make them both? Makes me want to try my hand at Gollying. I adore those two. My fav would have to be Holmes. Just adorable!
(Do you mind if I snag the name Holmes for one of my bears?)
I'll show my first ever bear that I made, but not the first bear that I designed. LOL He's too ugly, but my very first bear is alright! I'm kinda proud of him now (I deserted him when I made him because he looked nothing like the original!)
Daphne, your first designed bear is adorable. He doesn't look very unlike what you are making now!!!!!! My Avatar bear is "Hector" Just new, he is one of the ones that I sold to a local bear shop (I'm so chuffed about that!)
Danni
Ahhh okay thanks Girls :D
Laure, thanks for your comments on my new Avatar bear. He is a cutie, and I LOVE the collar!!
I'm just wondering about rusty keys. Can the rust someone come off onto the mohair?? Anyone had any problems with that?
Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows of a site that offers old/antique keys for sale? I know of the lady who offers keys that Angie wrote about on the "other" board, I was just wondering if anyone know of any good suppliers that I can actually see the keys before purchasing?
Many thanks,
Danni
Ooh she's sweet, don't call her "poor girl" I have a few bears that I designed that is my progression to a basic pattern that I'm happy with. They aint goin' no-where!
Ooh Gee Shelli, I wasn't hinting.. Honest... Thankyou SO much for the very sweet offer.
I don't want to be a burden on your time... but thanks for the offer chicky babe!
Hi Louise,
They're done in a graphics program. I think Shelli made them for the lucky people who have them... I might give it a try one day!!! (I have heaps of things i want to do..!!)
Danni
People like revlon etc put them out. They used to be everywhere. Used to buy them for painting dominoes for rubber stamping. It's funny how crafts cross over and use things for different crafts...
Hi Sue Ann,
I have chucked all my little bits of scraps (the bigger peices left over from the mohair I'm keeping in case I order that mohair again of course) into a plastic bag. I have always planned on getting a cheap carpet mat, and gluing the mohair scraps ontop of that. It will be a big job, but I think my cats will adore it. I have a cat that's crazy for our Maltese dog, he loves anything soft and fluffy and goes ape when he sees any mohair LOL But then I have more than one cat, so they'll fight over it, so I'm trying to plan three matts LOL That's the plan anyhow - not sure if it'll eventuate or not!
Oooh but Judi, I'm sure I felt the pain while trying to make my own pattern! LOL Not the easiest thing for me to do (not a sketcher) but I got there in the end, and got the look I so wanted (which keeps evolving as my skills get better)
What an amazing story!!!!!!! Nearly as entertaining as I had imagined LOL I guess I have a wild imagination, but I'm not nearly as quick thinking as you must be Dilu!!!
Hi Everyone,
What an interesting topic. My very own new from scratch pattern was my fourth bear. Like Daph, no-one will see him. Pretty similar to the ones I do now, but I thought his tummy was huge, but he ended up like a stick figure LOL
Danni
Gee Shelli - you are sooo nosey!
I am kind of wondering tooooo...LOL.... I just wouldn't have been game enough to ask us to fill us in
Thanks Shelli!! LOL I'm still laughing here.
Hi Everyone :D
I have Been really enjoying the talk on how you got into bears. For me, it's a rather boring, uninspired story but rather like a lot of you here.
When I was 16 (8 years ago now) I got sick. So, I had to stop school, and to keep myself busy I got into crafts. I have tried lots of things, not really clicking with anything apart from Cake Decorating and rubber stamping (sorta) Anyhow, I had always wanted to try bearing, but I really wasn't confident enough. I thought the bear would turn out ugly and wonky and I would just never take the step to order supplies or a kit. I guess it was because I have never had any sewing or needlework experience.
So, last year, I finally took the plunge, and gave it a go. I figured, at least I'd be able to get it out of my system if I'm not able to do it! Much to my suprise, I could actually do it, and I think my very first bear is - not - too - bad. He's not wonky, or ugly (in my eyes anyhow) and was a huge thrill. The rest as they say is history!
I am just so pleased that I gave it a try, because I would still be bored, looking for something to do!
Oh Judi,
I haven't replied until now, because I had no idea what to say, (I still don't) Just know that you and your family are in many people's thoughts (including mine) all around the world.
YOu are a beautiful strong woman, and your sister would be so proud of you.
Danni
Oooh that would have to be my Pink Panther. Apprently I was about 3, and I was at a second hand sale, fell inlove with this already dead looking thing LOL My father apprently didn't want me to buy it because it was already so old and tired looking, but I fell in love with it. I bought it, and apprently would carry it around like it was a baby. I still have it... scruffy old looking thing it is, but I couldn't part with it... no way!
oooh Yay!! How exciting, you MUST show us a photo, or two
