I created my own web site too and have used Microsoft Front Page from the beginning.  I think its wonderful and you can begin small and build as you learn.  I am slowly learning HTML through Front Page although it is not necessary to know a thing about it to build your site.
Happy to help if anyone needs.  It is such a simple program, its basically all there in front of you as you open it up and away you go!
I downloaded a FTP to transfer my site to the web and it works really well too.  I can't remember where I got it from but will let you know when I do.
I use the 5 mega bytes that my internet provider gives free of charge.

When I first began, I used Bravenet and then Yahoo...such a hassle...the way I work now is like childs play compared to those online systems.

Hope this helps some :)

I agree...I sew mine in lastly too.  Clare I'm with you...who is ted menten lol

Jellybelly Bears

I've heard that socks make a good practice piece, but I think that the texture wouldn't be the same as mohair.  Up until probably my 70th bear I was still re-doing my noses 3 times!  Right now I've made 130 odd and I usually get away with one or two tries at the most.
It is definately something that needed practice for me lol
Prehaps if you make one practice head, stuff it but only gather it so you can untie it later...then after the nose is worn from practicing you can open it up and restuff and make it firm again...does that make sense?  then at least you only have one practice head instead of many...

Hi Daphne
I've never sewn my heads like that before...I wonder if this would produce an exact center nose seam...sometimes mine is a little off and I need to re sew.  I will try it out next bear ;)

I collect bears and antique teacups, china.  I use to collect barbie and porcelain dolls.
The doll collection grew so much, most of it is packed away in the basement.
So I have slowed down on the dolls.

I love to check out antique stores for
handpainted china thats my favorite! It just looks so pretty displayed .

Oh yep, I forgot my barbie collection lol, I love anything fairy or story book and I have a collection of the dolls of the world, and even a Harley Davidson barbie  bear_tongue

I love Winnie the pooh instead and collect all things pooh, figures, books etc etc, wonder what that would mean to your professor kim lol

I collect books too, all sorts and love childrens picture books, especially fairy books by Shirley Barber.
I love toilken and have his books and movies etc etc, went overboard with that lol.   I love fantasy books and mystery and also have the whole agatha christie range that I share with my mother hehe

I love looking at all the photos!  Seems everyone here is the same as me, don't know the meaning of being bored lol.
Fran, my mum makes porcelain dolls.  She has around 30 I think, I dabbled in it and made 3 and a half (I got tired of it and mum finished the last one off for me lol)  It was nice seeing your work, they are beautiful

Sorry Roxanne.  I'm an expert in this area and I use ice, cool water to dip into and get some relief from any swelling, braces, magnets and also anti inflam gels and creams.  Do you have feldene there? It is wonderful.  Sometimes the cooling ice gels work well.  Other than that just rest and hopefully resting will get you back on track quicker than working through it.  Maybe your doc can prescribe you something?
Oh, also, work little bit by little bit and rest lots.  It is frustrating, but you can get more done by taking frequent rest breaks
Hope you feel better soon  bear_flower

I just thought this would be a fun topic and hope it hasn't been done before and I've missed it.  I am a huge collector and when I connected to the internet and discovered ebay, I was in heaven  bear_innocent

I have three of my favourite collections to show you all, one I started in the 80's as a child and have finished through ebay.  (I wanted to show you this in the 80's thread but thought I would begin a new thread instead)
anyway..don't laugh...I love my dollies and they are one of my prized possessions.  I am a really big little girl at heart and one day I will be brave enough to show you pictures of my room lol.  The best bedroom ever according to the kids who visit lol

okay here are my photos bear_original

One thing I wonder, when you see an Aussie putting on an American accent, do you know...like do you all think that is someone putting on our accent??  Like Julian Mcmahon, Nicole etc etc
For us it is really easy to pick an American or English using an Aussie accent. It iwll be interesting to find out.

Oh Steve Irwin, forgot him...when I first talked to some of my American friends from a health group I am part of, they were sure I would sound like Steve Irwin lol  bear_laugh   I did a 'crikey' just to please lol

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adelaide

This is a great link with photos of my home, Adelaide.  It is one of the quiet cities of Australia and it is said that people come here to retire lol.  I don't see any wildlife where I live in the suburbs (kangaroos, koalas)  but a short drive into the county and my sister has a koala living in her front yard lol.
It is really hot here at the moment, we are having a really big heat wave and the end is not in sight still (7 day forcast we look at every night)  It is terrible.  bear_sad
It is much harder to grow a garden because of this heat in the summer.  But our winters and springs are beautiful.  It rarely gets below around 0C or 30F on a winters night adn I think this is freeeezing lol
I think what I like most about aussies is that we love to laugh at ourselves.  I know we have had so many medical breakthroughs here etc etc, but we are more known for other things lol

Oh has anyone ever watched the aussie episode of the simpsons lol.  So hilarious, but totally steriotypical and not the way we live.  I watched an old murder she wrote the other day in australia, and it was located in the desert on a sheep ranch or something, and the pub was so old and dusty etc lol.

Another thing that amazes some of my US friends is that we only have 20 million i think people living here.   It is small, and we are a young country too with the first settlers only arriving in 1788.

Great cut and paste Shelli...yep, I did see me all over it lol.   bear_tongue

Kim, she is so precious!  I'm glad you have started again!  Your fearies are just so beautiful!  It is something that I would love to try eventually.
I love Cicely Mary Barker too!  Have a calender plastered on the back of my bedroom door lol.  I love fairys.  I also love Shirley Barber , her fairys are beautiful and I am so inspired by her work.

Denise your folk art is so lovely!  I want to do some dining room chairs.  Another project on my to do in my lifetime list lol
