here is one of my prized paper toles, it is huge and took ages to complete, next is my chess set which also took me ages to complete lol, and then I have some porcelain dolls
oooh I love this thread!! My family are into every craft imaginable, The first proper thing I remember making was a soft toy elephant for my little sis. I would have only been 6 lol. So it has always been in me to craft. We are a funny lot, my sisters, mum and I, if we like something, we rarely buy it, we figure out how to make it and do it ourselves lol. Not for money or anything, we just like to do learn and know how its done and that we can do it etc. We have basically every craft covered lol
I have so many crafts that I love, I will show you some photos of my favourite pieces in the next post. The sad thing is that now bears takes up all my time! I suppose we have all had that happen lol. In the future I would love to try my hand at sculpting, only for myself as it seems really hard, but I just love the fairies that the two Kims and the others have shown off on the wings post, and Heather and Terrie, I love your little fellows and would love love love to give it a go one day.
Roxanne, your cookies are too nice to eat! I used to love to cook and bake things all the time, I even began my own wedding cake bus for around a year lol. Loved it, but not as much as Bears so gave it up.
Charlotte, lovely basket..never tried that hehe, looks likt fun!
Sabine, your quiting is beautiful! My mother quilts and it looks very time consuming, but I love the results!
Judi, I've seen your tiger before, but that horse is amazing! I can't draw and it is something that always amazes me. Beautiful!
Brenda, your drawings are beautiful. I've made porcelain dolls and know that first little girl lol
Kimberly, your dogs are so cute. I have collected little dogs since I was 12. And I've seen your Fairies and such before, stunning!
I am so sorry Julia...such a tragedy. Sending you a comforting hug
Sarah
I was born in 1976 too.
Yay to the 76'ers. Seem to be a lot of us! Oh an Bon Jovi rule hehe My room was covered...and I mean covered in their posters lol
Hugs Sarah
A-Ha's "Take On Me" is, and always will be, my favorite song of all time. I have no idea why. I can't sing it (too many octaves), I can't understand the words to it, and those I can understand, make zero sense. Those are usually prerequisites to me, loving a song. But that one is on EVERY playlist -- casette, CD, iPod, workout tape -- I've ever made, and ever will. It's always the FIRST song, too.
haha Shelli I could have written this lol. My sis and I used to sit by the speakers, rewinding and playing take on me again and again trying to figure out the words lol. Need I say we never did lol.
Okay, don't laugh, but that is the song I have as my ring on my mobile phone lol. told you not to laugh lol
Hugs Sarah
Shantell, I know just what you mean! Never good enough lol. I do exactly the same thing and when I sell a bear am sure I will receive an email saying how disappointed they are! Seriously I worry that much. I never have and in fact get the opposite. And if you are like me, no matter how much praise you get, you always doubt yourself..arghh. lol. I wonder where it stems from...perfectionism, mothers lol. I have favourite bears, but always pick and could change something.
One tip that I have learnt that makes it a little easier for people like us is if there is ever something I am unhappy with as I am creating, I go back and fix it...no matter how difficult...I have a box full of heads from fixing lol. If I don't it always sticks out and it is all I see and wish I would have changed it.
Big hugs
Sarah
Oh Nancy, tiffani is adorable. You still have 4 days to go so I hope the bids keep coming and I'm so sure they will! You are so talented and I'm not just saying that!
Ebay is so difficult...it is all a luck thing a lot of the time...right time, people etc etc. I haven't been on ebay for a few months, but last year found that it opened me up to collectors and orders. I think its a great avenue for that and for being recognised.
It's also just after Christmas...I wonder if sales go down because of that?
Chin up and please don't ever give up. Your work is too lovely. I've seen some artists like you have mentioned, always get high prices, and then one or two don't even get a bid...ebay is a weird world.
big hugs
Sarah
PS, I would be interested to see the results of your study lol. Although I think name plays a big role I think the work still has something to do with it. It would be interesting.....
I'm so sorry Judi...this is such a hard thing to go through. I hope your girls will be okay soon and hope you make it to the shelter, that will cheer them up. We were always given the old 'they ran away, or given away to a farm' story. Only the oldest child always knew the truth and had to cry in private. I think honesty is the best in these situations. I'm sending you lots of    and hope you find another friend to love.
Sarah

I love teddy bear and friends and teddy bear review the best. In australia we have Bear Creations and they have recently updated with a new editor. Lots of really nice new features so it isn't so much of just a pattern book only...I suppose it is a little more americanised, which is great...it needed a change and more photos of other bear artists to inspire I don't know if you can get that internationally. My first little picture of my fairy bear was in in this month
very proud hehe

I've read this topic with great interest...I'm so happy you've decided to enter Kim. I've only entered the bear show competitions, When I first started my business in 2002 and then again last year where I won...but both times were so much fun and so exciting regardless of the outcome.
I wish you all the very best
hugs Sarah
