Mass produced bears.  You mean like my beloved bears???

wubbiebear

What do you mean by "the quality has gone down"?

wubbiebear

I'm so envious of all of you.  I would love to go to Huglets at least once in my life.

wubbiebear

Why would you want them just for display?  What they love is to be squuzzed and cuddled.  I love on my artist bears the same as I do the manufactured ones and I believe they know they're very loved.  It makes me cry when I hear about a bear or critter that is only displayed and never cuddled with *cry, cry, cry*.

wubbiebear

Are all teddies soft sculptures?  I think the bears I make would probably laugh if they were called that, lol.

wubbiebear

I keep hearing this term "soft sculpture" used a lot since I've started getting into artist bears.  Can someone please explain to me what exactly this term is?

wubbiebear

I found out that Rochester, the bear I think is from the 80s, was made by the company Cuddle Wit Creations, the same company that made the awesomeness that was Baby Wurble Bear in the early 80s.  I had one of those as a kid and I have no idea what happened to him.

This is not the bear I have.  My bear doesn't talk, but I was excited to realize I have one of Wurble's brothers.

As soon as I get something to take pictures with, I'll take it.  There are a few bears I suspect may be from the 80s and two that I know are.  One of them has 1986 on his tag and the other is Corduroy, my bear that repeats what you say after you say it.  He's kind of obvious because he looks like Teddy Ruxpin.  I've already loaded his pic here.

I will post a pic of my Boyd's Bear Retro.  They said he was from the 70s, but the tag said copyright 1988 to 2001.  He could be an 80s bear, which will make my life.

Oops, I have to post a link because you can't post pics from the quick reply area.

This is going to be weird for this forum, but I'm obsessed with bears from the 80s for some reason.  Does anybody know how I can spot one of these when I see one?  I was given a huge bunch of bears that were in my grandma's cellar in boxes that were a lot of our childhood bears.  They had been in a box for years, but she gave them to me because she knows I love bears.

I found one today while looking through the pile and his shape really reminds me of some of the bears I have from the 80s and I'm not sure whether he is or not.  Is there any way for me to know for sure?  Usually they don't have dates on them unless they're collector bears, which this dude definitely is not.  It doesn't change how I feel about my bears when they were made, but I'm just really looking for bears from the 80s and I'd be really excited to know I had one here.

What's so wrong with wanting to cuddle a teddy bear?  I don't know why people think teddies are childish or for wimps.  Just because you're a guy, you still need love too.  What better way to receive love than from a sweet, loving, precious teddy bear *hugs Freddie the artist bear*?

wubbiebear

Actually, Bobbie, it was Arcto that I threw at you, not a little bear to you, and you can't have him!!!!!!  Lol, I only pick on people I like *throws a little bitty bear , about three inches tall at Bobbi*.

wubbiebear

Aw, Bobbie, no fair.  It's visual *throws a little bear at Bobbie*.

wubbiebear

Frankly, I love the fact that Hubbie shares my love of bears, although he thinks I carry it too far.

wubbiebear

I need audio in order to know what to do, but if I am able to come see you, do you think you could cut out a couple for me to take home?  Is that okay, Nancy???

wubbiebear

I'm glad y'all told me it wasn't legit.  I got excited at first because I'm always looking for patterns, but I'm glad I found out it was a copyright violation before I got someone to download it for me.  Hopefully, by the time I'm financially able to buy the book, it'll be available as a hard copy from your web site instead of a stinkin' PDF file.  You won't put it on audio, will you.  Oh I guess that might be kind of hard.  Are there any bearmaking books available as audiobooks so I can read them?

wubbiebear

It's so sad.  I used to hide my love of bears and only show them to close family and friends because of people's stupid remarks that bears are childish and all that bunch of hockey, but now I always have at least one bear on me at all times.  I don't think there's a person that knows me well that doesn't know Arcto and if they don't accept him, they don't accept me.  I was teasing one of the ladies at my physical therapist's and I told her that Arcto should be the mascot of the office because I've always got him every time I'm in therapy, lol.  Of course I'm a girl, but if I saw a guy like that, I'd probably write a song for him.

wubbiebear

Actually, TT is for all bear people, but it's so big and there's so much here that sometimes people may not see your posts or if they're like me, they just don't know what to say.  I know I have trouble in some threads because of not having eyesight.  If the thread is all about looking at a picture of a bear, which most of the threads seem to be about, I can't really comment on that because I can't touch the bear through the screen.  Also I can't really give a lot of answers to people as I'm just starting out.  I feel bad that I can't comment about people's bears.

wubbiebear

Oh I so want to go off right now after reading this.  I'm actually shaking.  I think I want to go find the arctophobic straightie (I can't say the whole thing because I don't use words like that) and let Arcto have a blast with him.  Hubbie has three bears he sleeps with and sometimes he sleeps with my bear Gaither also.  Men who sleep with bears are not wimps, stupid blog guy.  They're called ARCTOPHILES!!!  Whoa, I guess I better get off my soapbox before I mess up the bear I'm working on.

wubbiebear

Thanks for putting her here.  I can't see details, but I can see shapes and I saw her shape on the screen and wanted to squuz her.  The cool thing is that the little girl sometimes has her bear with her when I see her, and she always lets me give Becky a hug.

wubbiebear

Bearlove to you all.  Can someone please help me get it to where there's a pic in the bear showcase with all the annoying html for people to click?  I don't know how to get it to do that.  On the showcase and the other areas where they show pics, before my screen reader reads the thread title, it reads a link and a graphic and a bunch of numbers that I assume is a picture, but mine doesn't have this.

wubbiebear

That's what I want is for my bears to be loved.  I think I like giving them away as much as I like selling them, lol.  That's why I started making bears in the first place, to give them to people I love.  Becky, the lady, not the bear, you do know what fabric that is, don't you, and why I named her Becky?  She was named after you.
