smaller012.jpgsmaller3.jpgsmaller01.jpgsmaller5.jpgsmaller.jpgsmaller2.jpgsO MY NEW ROOM IS COMPLETED----still a 9x9 triangular shape and small by most of todays standards.....but thanks to Lowes, ( a 4 hour drive to and fro for my honey) I can breathe and to my surprise

I do have carpet.  There is even room for more......now Where is that Visa card?

It might seem like a lot of stuff.....but remember I am 53, have sewn since I was 8, practised couture sewing and seamstressing - so a third is from that part of my life, and a third is from all those years as a quilter and then I took up with the fur crowd and a third is all the stuff needed for teddybear and goodgolly making.  Also because I live  so far away from real stores I try to anticipate future needs.....
ergo there is a lot of stuff....hmmmmmm well I hope live long enough to use it!

I better get busy.....:D:D

Dilu

PS the Cupboards from lowes are fabulous- they are like 25" deep and 4 feet wide....so there is litterly oodles of space to store stuff and not be a complete disaster!

I am very grateful to have this room now.:)

Wow,that's awesome. You have a wonderful room,I love all the storage.Mine is a little dark hole in the basement and not nearly as well organized. In fact I have spent all day looking for a lost ear for my bear .he is all done but for his ears, nose and a few accessories.I can't even find the left over scrapes and fear they were thrown out in my last cleaning jag:( He is made of tapestry that I cannot replace.Well back to the search,

Oh Shari!  I know the feeling.  I once made a knitted hat to sew on a bears head because I could never find the ears!  ( this is our little secret.....right?)

I hope you find the ear....maybe a beret sort of cocked off to one side?  Hmm....you'l come up with something.

I am very happy to have such a room....I am humbly grateful, because it is certainly better than I ever expected and better than I deserve.  However ladies, remember the premade yu-put-it-up- shelving and components at places like Lowes aren't terribly expensive, especailly if you take into consideration how much time we spend looking for lost things.....arms.....legs........oh how well  I know.  I have a golly head and don't know where the body is.....

leave it alone, and it'll come home, dragging it's tail behind him?

Hooray..after a full days search and a prayer to St.Jude I have finally found...... a scrap of tapestry just big enough for an ear yeaaaah!! I do like the beret suggestion though as the tapestry has kind of a traveling /postage stamp theme and I am making him a passport a baggage tag and have already printed a small map of Europe that I aged for him.I don't usually work in tapestry and have put him away many times(probably how the ear went missing:rolleyes: ) I still may not like him in the end but ,he's almost done and my husband thinks I should finish.Off I go to make a beret,I mean ear:lol: Hugs,Shari.

Dilu, your room is wonderful!

Two things:

1)  If you need to make excuses for having that much stuff collected over the course of decades of crafting and life, I feel utterly abashed about the enormous amount of crap I've managed to accumulate in less than two years' time.  Don't be so hard on yourself; your studio LOOKS like a studio, and isn't that the point?

2)  I love, love, LOVE the texture of your walls.  Are they plastered?

Thanks for sharing your pics and your life with us... bear_original

Dilu Posts: 8,574

Shelli, honey, I wish  I wish they were just plaster!:lol::lol:

Our house is concrete and rebar.....which is great from an energy point of view, but heaven help you if you bump your head!!!

The walls are truely harder than the head.....as my hunny would say;
"how is that possible?"

Hmmmmm

It is rather a studio now isn't it....and since I have retired so-to-speak from nursing I can relish in it.

The past 2 days I just sit in there.  I don't want to mess it up  :D

Maybe tomorrow.....

Today is a do nothing and enjoy it day!

OK I'll confess- I have a couple of bearing friends here, who saw the work room in all its glory and then they saw the new one- they were convinced I got rid of stuff.

Got rid of stuff?!  ::mad:

Is this like a moral horns-of-dillema debate?  Which child do you let drown if you can only save one?

(I was not fond of my Logic classes....and it showed, only got a B sigh) :(

Could you decide what to get rid of?

If you could only keep so much what would you cut loose?

No, but because of my husbands good planning, and blessing the Sterilite and Rubbermade plastics company for all their different sized boxes with snap on lids, I didn't have to.

Well I did put a few sewing books in the family bookcase.  I'm family....move over Louis Lamoore-in goes Claire Schaffer (a couture specialist

Dilu, Dilu :D

It's wonderful! Of course you don't have too much stuff! How can you have too much stuff? I've only been at if a few months, and I'm catching up fast in the stuff department.

And you've even got a cubby for the cat--what incredible planning. Tell your hubby we're all jealous.

Shari, I'm glad you found a bit of fabric for the ear. A lesson to us all--don't clean up. I'm working in the basement too, and I find that if I need more space, I can always pile the "other" stored stuff a little higher.

Super pictures Dilu!  Maybe I'll show mine...sometime...AFTER I clean it up!!!!  My work room used to be our old living room.  We converted it into my studio after we added an addition to our house.  My husband put all of our old kitched cabinets in here.  It's full in here...but I get to look out onto one of our hay feilds through a bay window.  It's very inspiring.

Now, if I could only remember where I put my................oh the list goes on.

Dilu, I love your little gollies peeking off your shelves.

Well ladies, I have a date with Mickey Mouse....we're off to Disney World.  See ya after next week!!!!

Well Dilu,
What can I say, It is truly wonderful, and I may add your beloved husband must take credit where credit is due,he has done a great job.  I know the feeling about not wanting to spoil things, my workroom was done 2 years ago  and I used to just go and sit in it for hours at a time , now once more I have time to sit and ponder ,but needless to say it does need a bit of organisation and nothing beats the first time it was done.  You enjoy it , and all your bits and pieces too.You know the old saying about  One mans Junk being another mans Treasure....... I will think about you sitting in your lovely Studio and making beautiful Gollies and other critters too.   All my Love Rita xxxxxxx

We created haning space in the closet to hang all the mohair-  It was the first time I realized just how much mohair I really do have....SHOCK!  Fortuently I got it hung up before he-who-keeps-track-of-such-things had a chance to do the caluculations in his head.

That was a close one said she who ordered a yard from Edinbourough only because it is 3" long and 40%off......A yard will make a lot of gollygeewilllikins i do believe.

I am positivr i will find something to put in that one cubicle besides the cat who was quiet pleased to be there.

Hugs

Dily
