Here is Winston the Bulldog---another dog in my Remembrance Pup line. Remembrance pups are made to commemorate your own dog. Each remembrance pup carries a small locket or photo frame to put photos of your own dog in. They also have glass vials for putting keepsakes in such as a lock of fur, a scrap from a favorite toy or even ashes.
Winston is now on Bear Pile. Here is the link to his page if your would like to see more of him.

This is a fun topic.  I toyed with the idea of putting my name in my business name but learned of other Beth's Bears and then again it sounded too mundane for me.
so I knew I had to come up with something more fun. I have frequently called my dog Wookie a pirate. I took a photo of him when he was just a pup wearing a pirate hat and eye patch next to a treasue chest so he is forever more my sweet puppy pirate. Anyway the pirate theme comes into my bear making as I have always had the desire to make my Wookie Pirate pup in mohair.  And wanting to use a piratey theme in my name I thought of  scaliwags. Taking it one step further I decided my creations were scaliwagers. Then after thinking even more I figured I could enhance it more by breaking the word down, capitolized each part of the word and added another r for ScaliWagGrrs. Thus we have Scali which can be for scaley creatures such as dragons even though it isn't pronounced the same, Wag for wagging tails and Grrs for growlers such as bears.

I have recorded my time on sheets before as well. Though I am not usually totally accurate as I always forget to write some of the time down or I get up to go let the dogs out and up going with them and playing for awhile. But 20-30 hours seems to be the average for a 12" bear/animal. I did do a smaller one at just around 9 hours once though. He didn't have a lot of detailing so that made a big difference.

Me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I absolutly hate sewing---except for sewing bears and critters that is. I always figured it must be that they have a face that looks back at you. I always feel the love come back at me. I never had that feeling either when sewing on a button, mending clothes or even making a quilt.
If you could go back in time and tell my earlier self that I would be sewing bears in the future I am sure I would have just laughed and said "HA! You must be kidding! I HATE sewing"
Funny thing is I really do enjoy the actual sewing part of making bears now. (Apart from sewing in footpads and sometimes sewing on ears) I even enjoy closing seams by hand. And since I learned another way of sewing in head gussets I don't mind doing that now. It is much easier to sew the head gusset to the side heads first then sew the chin to nose seam last. At least it is easier for me. I don't have to hand sew this anymore and I get a much more even look to the nose. If you haven't tried this I suggest you do.

Sunset is wonderful! You did a fab job airbrushing! Isn't it  fun? I love to airbrush. Though I hate cleaning the darn thing out. Seems to be clogged every time I start to use it no matter how much I clean it after using it.

IMG_0133_1.JPGHi! This is my latest offering on Bear Pile. He is the first in my new line that I am calling Remembrance Pups. They are intended as memorials to a beloved pet---be it living or deceased.
This fellow has a locket  for a photo and a glass vial for a keepsake such as a lock of fur.
If you would like to find out more about him you can visit him here:

I tried clicking on all your different pages but nothing was showing up for me.  There was a sentence at the bottom of your about me page but I could not scroll down anymore to read the rest. All the other pages were totally blank.

I recently did an 17" Saint Bernard with a wobble neck joint (using two cotter pins) and he has quite a big head. He turned out great. It actually enhances him as it gives him the ability to tilt his head without a much more complicated double neck joint.  Here are a few pics of him.

You can also see a picture of this fellow in the June issue of Teddy Bear & friends.
So I don't think you are limited in size. I think it is always a good idea to experiment anyway as you never know what great ideas and accomplishments you might come up with.
