I haven't been on here in FOREVER!  So happy to see that Teddy Talk is still active and thriving.  Here is my newest teddy bear, available on my website. www.eTeddys.net

Lisa,
I am going the opposite direction.  Instead of the modern teddy bears I usually create, I have been making more classic teddies.  I have always adored old fashioned bears but have never made them.  I have to say, my collectors are probably confused, but I am having a lot of fun with it!

Hugs,
Alison

Here is my latest creation, a sweet little witch bear.  Whendi is available on my website, http://www.eteddys.net!

Well, it was either a pumpkin or an unfinished bear head.  I opted for the pumpkin!

I have switched to Coats (aka Coats & Clark) "Ultra Dee."  I bought it at a local upholstery shop.  It is nearly identical to the Mastex and I like it.  I am not a fan of other Coats and Clark sewing threads, I find them to be crap, but the Ultra Dee is a nice substitute to our missing Mastex.

A wonderful tribute!  Beautiful as always.

So cute!   Love the expression.

Lulu,
He does resemble the Einco, but I don't think they ever put these type of eyes in.  I'm pretty sure the eyes are original to the piece.  He's still quite a mystery!

The pictures are on there now.  I had to resize them to get them to upload.  It's quite a mystery so I hope someone can help!

smpup4.jpegsmpup3.jpegsmpup2.jpegsmpup1.jpegI found this cute mohair pup at an estate sale.  I can't find anything like it on the internet.  Anyone out there know anything about it.  It has eyes housed in a metal box that move back and forth.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Daphne's right, you have to make your work grab everyone's attention!  I've noticed that animal caps are really in right now, the cute ones with the bear ears, etc.  And, it's not just kids wearing them!  How about scarves along the same line?  I've not seen anything like that around here.  And, if you want year round income, you'll have to think of other things to make, scarves and blankets are usually only purchased in the winter time.  Definitely try ETSY!

Big hugs and congratulations to all of my friends who won the industry choice awards.  Good luck to you as the voting moves to the public.   Based on the few pictures posted here, it will be hard to decide who to vote for.

Thanks everyone.  Joanne hooked me up with some felt to get me by for a while.  That will give me time to research and find a supplier.  Or, perhaps Intercal will get it back in stock!

Did anyone at the San Diego show get the TOBY nominee list yesterday?  I'm sure I'm not the only one curious!

I have heard that Mastex is no longer manufacturing this thread.    bear_sad  I have had to switch to Coats Ultra Dee bonded polyester.  It is very similar.  I bought it locally at an upholstery shop.  I'm sure you can find it online somewhere.

Where can I get off white wool felt?  Intercal NEVER has is int stock anymore.  I do not like the "natural white" from Edinburgh.  Anyone have a supplier with good quality 100% wool felt?

Here is my latest teddy, another traditional style bear.  No worries, I'll still be making the normal bright eyed teddies that I have become known for.  Just having some fun, getting back to the basics and using some little treasures that I have found.  Gidget is available on my website.

Thanks everyone!  I have to admit that I was worried that no one would like my more traditional design but got many positive comments.  I really enjoyed making this bear and will definitely be making more designs along this line.  Edda will be going to live in Florida with her new bear mom soon!

I have completed my 7th Annual New Years teddy.  Edda is available on Ebay with a 1 day auction, ending on Jan 2.  She is very different for me, as she is more traditional than I usually design.  I decided to try my hand at a traditional teddy after spending a lot of time making gifts from vintage sheet music.  Edda's hat is made from sheet music to Auld Lang Syne from the 1930's.  She was a lot of fun to make and I definitely plan to do more bears in this style in 2011.

Happy New Year to you all!
