If you have a local WalMart store, you can process right online. Go to www.walmart.com and click the photo tab. Then you upload right from your flash card, hard drive or CD. Then you have the option for 1 hour photo, send out or send home! I do it all the time now. That way I don't have to stand in line waiting on the machine at the store.

I recommend Van Dykes. I haven't bought their teeth, but I do use their eyes.

I've recently found that the accessory you put on your bear has a big influence. I've finished my first 2 silicone/fur bears. Upon sharing their pictures on another site, I was PMed by a collector. Though she complimented the bear, she also disliked that I put a collar on him. She explained it reminded her of a bear kept in a circus. My reply thanked her for the compliment and I assured her the collar is removable. Gosh, I didn't know what else to say!

Judi, you are one artist that always leaves me with my mouth gapping open! I can not even imagine needle sculpting that face. Your work is simply an inspiration!

Lom-Bear-di Cubs

Judi, your bear is just darling! Did you sculpt the face from clay as well?

Catherine, sculpting your own is very easy to do! If you'd like more information on clay and how to make claws, please let me know. I am also a doll artist/sculptor and I can help. One thing to remember if you try it on your own, be careful about leaving your finger prints in the clay! Ü

A job well done!

WARNING!

In the doll world, it has been an issue with the jelly pellets leaking and breaking down over time!
I don't know how it would react to the fur and handling.
But when the jelly pellets (baby fat as the artists called them) were used in the vinyl reborn dolls, they broke down inside the vinyl parts filled with the pellets!

There are other kinds of pellets.
I purchased my squishy pellets from CRs Crafts. They are not filled with the jelly/oils.
I don't care for how light they are,
but for a floppy cuddly bear, it would be nice.

Ummm . . . I think there is a UK artist whose company is called Something's Bruin.  Is that correct, UK ladies?

Wouldn't you know it! The good ones are always taken! ;)

How about Bear Hairs and Stitches?

Oh, is she pretty! Wonderful color!
I used to sew bears from upholstery fabric and quilts.
I dressed them with minks and antique jewelry.

My only concern about that would be phone calls at all hours.
It would be my luck my boys would be bickering in the background over a video game! LOL

Hi Shelli!

This is my game plan on doing the standing bear. I'm still waiting on his silicone face plate to arrive, so the pattern is still on the drawing table until I know it will work. I'm definately using a foam or cardboard insert in the foot. For leg support, here is my idea:

My husband went to ACE Hardware to buy me what's called terminal insulated eyelets. They are a ring with a tube on the end. I plan to use coated gauge wire and crimp it on. I will attach the ring to my cotter pin or plastic joint which ever I use and lastly add my lock (or hard board disk) and tighten it on to hold it in place. My husband took along my plastic joint to be sure the key hole would fit, and it surely does! The wire gauge will be my inner "bone" to give the leg support.

Could I ask where I might find BB's to purchase? I live in Ohio.

Awwwww, Rita! Your chimp is darling!

Judi, your work is absolutely breath taking! I enjoyed visiting your website.
I simply adore your tiger and rabbit, but Sherwood
melts my heart! The bear hair on your Muffy bears is gorgeous!

Ladies, you all do such beautiful work! I'm so happy I've discovered this forum!
Thank you for the warm welcomes!

Lom-Bear-di Cubs

Hi, I'm new to your forum. I was wondering if you create other fur babies besides bears?

Lom-Bear-di Cubs

Hi! My name is Linda. I haven't created a bear since 2001. I started sculpting infants over the last few years. Recently, I sculpted a baby chimp and tang. I realized how much I missed working with fur......hairballs and all! I've just finished my first bear and it felt good getting back to my old roots again! I've combined my sculpting with bear making. I'm still rusty with my proportions with bears, they're nothing like babies!  bear_ermm Luckily I found this site searching for "double jointed neck"! I look forward to chatting with all of you!
