Thank you for the advice Jenny .. yes I think it's worth getting it checked , there is a good shop where I live that services machines . Fingers crossed that it survives .. hope so it's a lovely little machine .  bear_thumb

I wonder if there's anyone here who could give me some advice on why when my sewing machine was plugged in but not in use decided that the motor would start smoking and blow up , well maybe not quite but it's died on me now ! The motor has obviously gone so would anyone know if , a , it's possible to get a new motor or , b , is it worth it as this machine must be close to around 80 years old ?
However it was a brilliant little machine , very efficient , but it hasn't been in use for around 12 months as I haven't made any bears for that long , so could it be that ?

Angelmom,
I have nothing to add to the great advice already given here. , but I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear of the loss of your daughter. I too lost a child recently , a son , and really there aren't many words you can use to ease the pain , but I have to say that making my bears is a great comfort albeit very slowly at the moment . I do hope you also find some comfort when you make your bear and no doubt you'll sew lots of love into it too .

I'm not sure whether I have the right section here but anyway I was wondering if anyone had any advice on organising fundraising or charitable events ?
I don't know if I can even accomplish it but would be very glad of any tips or advice as last week we lost our Son , suddenly , aged 43 and he leaves a wife and 5 year old son behind with doubts over whether the insurance company will pay out .
Therefore i have to try to secure their future in some other way .
I realise this will probably be very difficult to accomplish but I can't sit back and do nothing .
I've had a quick look online , but my head isn't really in the right place to take anything in at the moment so if anyone knows of a site where things are explained simply I'd be so grateful or any other advice really , I'm in the Uk so dare say rules are different throughout the world .
By the way my real name is actually June it's just that my Grandson calls me little Nan that's why I registered as that !

Oh yes ! Done that a couple of times now , sweat blood undoing cotter pins altering , etc but normally there's an improvement if you stick at it .. If not face him to the wall and ignore him ! Aah

Little Nan

Yes Joanne I'm sure they have and that's what I'm worried about , a bit late now though !
However a lesson learned for next time , should there be one  ! Taken all the advice though so am prepared now !
Thank you !  bear_wub

Little Nan

Yes Francy that's exactly my fear too !
However they're all packed up now , so maybe I'll risk it ! Tremble !!
That's a thought for another time though , should I need it !
Thank you Francy !   bear_wub

Just looked on eBay and there's also a powder in various shades that you can use to colour it !

Little Nan

Oh thank you Joanne , that's very reassuring !  bear_wub

I wonder if anyone has any experience with posting to Singapore  ?
My worry is that on going through customs as it has steel shot in will it be picked up by scanners and such  ?
I have horrific visions of the bear being ripped open etc  !!   I'd be grateful of anyone's input  !
