Karen and SueAnn ... good to see a couple of "oldies" pushing the boundaries and setting the bar!!
The Russian girls seemed to pickup on this genre pretty quickly.
This link might help with a little more info : http://theblytheghost.blogspot.com/p/steampunk.html
Hope you all have fun!!
Thanks Natascha, Ruth and Jan.
Taking a break for five days R & R and shopping (2 days at the Gold Coast International Teddy Bear Show...woo hooo!).
She looks like she's been up to mischief...you gotta watch these bunnies, you know how quickly they multiply!
Been ages since I have seen your work Ann-Marie and it's good to see you're still producing these whimsical pieces.
Hi Bobbie,
I have made slide show but not from Photobucket. I did find this link that may help.
They may be well made (in your opinion) but they are still mass produced and whether they are made in the UK, Hong Kong or Australia...to me, all mass produced bears are yuk.
I like, collect and appreciate the work that goes into individually hand made bears that are designed by the artist and made solely by the artist from beginning to end. AND I WILL PROBABLY DIE, STILL SUPPORTING THOSE WHO MAKE BEARS PURELY FOR THE LOVE OF BEARS AND THEIR ART!!
Thank you Linda, Lisa, Vero, Louise, Pat and Katy. I do appreciate you all for taking time to comment on Fatima.
There are a lot of camels in the Tanimi Desert of Australia, so there will probably be more Princesses to come in this series yet!
What a face!! Could launch a thousand ships this one!!
What a jolly little fellow Irma...you obviously have a wonderful sense of humour.
Susanna these were both wonderful entries and I am so surprised they didn't get snapped up! I hope they find a home soon, they deserve to be loved.
You have certainly mastered the AWWWW factor...gorgeous face!
Joanne he is simply delightful, I love him!
Every now and then I like to look at the different eBay sites like eBay.UK to see if I can find a unique one of a kind artist bear up for adoption.
Today I did a search and saw 394 results found for Artist Bears, One of a Kind, Mohairs, New but when I began to browse, I was appalled to find that this section was full of those mass produced CHARLIE BEARS!!! UGH YUK!!!
How can they possibly be listed as ONE OF A KIND when they are LIMITED EDITIONS of 1000!!! It makes me sick to my stomach!!
No wonder most of the talented artists are giving eBay a complete miss thesedays.
Now I feel much better that I got that off my chest!
Thanks Melisa...my hubby thinks I've gone quite mad!!
Having seen Linda's work in person, I can assure you she deserves every bit of this award! Congratulations Linda and to Ruth Bowman, Robyn Roe and Ina Smirnova for their wins also.
I might add that because our competition is growing, we have added a new member to our selection panel, who should already be known to many of you for her contributions to the teddy bear scene. We recently had much pleasure in welcoming Nancy Tilberg onboard (EbearZ University and author of "101 Bears to Make").
She is currently available here: http://bao-teddybearshows.blogspot.com/ … ddies.html
Oh you are all so sweet and generous with your comments...thank you all!
I am so pleased you like Suleiman, he really is cheeky and I think he may just give his new owner a devil of a time.
P.S. I am working on Jeanie of the Lamp's sister at present.
She was also called Jeanie, but had a darker complexion and dressed in aqua.
One of my latest creations ~ only put him on my website a little while ago, and he's already been adopted!
Needle felted, Ultrasuede, wool felt are all okay, but liquid paper? NEVER in a million years!!
Don't you know that liquid paper discolours in avery short time ... if you are making bears to sell PLEASE give some consideration to those who are purchasing your bears thinking they will stand the test of time.
As a collector, I would NEVER purchase a bear from anyone who takes short cuts with glue or liquid paper when it could be beautifully done with thread and textiles!!
I'm all for being innovative and creative, but OMG where are we headed??
Thanks Laura...that worked for me too.
Yes me too Raewyn.
I don't think anyone would laugh at you...I certainly wouldn't...and if you wrote your blog in Russian there is always Google translator to help out.
Everyone has to start somewhere...perhaps you can begin by sharing some photos of where you live in Canada.
Hello,
just have a question:I just created my blog and I have no idea how can you get followers and traffic to your blog?
is it good idea to make "Bear give-away"
or it just needs time?
Thanks, and any comment will be appreciated!!!
Tatyana
