Thank you so much I will go check him out right now. If I am able to find anything on my new friends story I will let you know
Ok so I still have not figured out how to upload my own pics, but here is a copy of the bear that i could find that was most similar to mine. However, mine is MUCH darker and a bit bigger.
Ok so I have inherited a very old bear that I am now pretty darn sure is an Ideal googly eyed bear. However, my bear is so much darker than any of the examples I can find on the Internet. My bear is about 13-14ish inches (depending on how he is layed out and measured), he definitely has painted wooden button eyes, and he is very dark brown in color (but not from being dirty). His hair is so dark that in some places the mohair seems to be almost tipped in black. My primary reason for the inquiry is to date the bear to a year as closely as I can. The bear was passed down to me through the family. I have a picture of my Great Great "Uncle Duck" holding him when he was a very small boy, so I know for a fact that this is a VERY early 1900s bear. My family has lived in St. Louis pretty much since they immigrated over from Germany. I know that my family attended the 1904 Worlds Fair here. I would love to know if it is possible that my bear was purchased at the Worlds Fair, or does his attributes place him being manufactured at a later date. Please help me learn my new friend's story.
PS I can provide pics of my little friend, if you can tell me how
