I sat down the other night to test out my wing pattern. I am hand drawing out my pattern and it is taking way more time than any of my bear patterns did. I wanted to do a quick prototype of how it would look sitting on the body. Turned out better than I thought...I am always a bit fretful over my patterns and try to make them as perfect as I can.
Anyway...excuse the mess top stitching on the wing, this was done before I got my hands on an open toe machine foot. It's really more of a Wyvern than a 'true dragon', as the wings serve as the dragon's front legs. I wanted it this way as the little claw I am going to add into the pattern next will be fitted with a chenille stem so it can hook onto a person's collar. This is a neck dragon so I want many different anchor points to make sure it stays on the shoulder! Also, on the finished product, the lower wing and the upper wing will be two different colors.
The pins in the top of the wing aren't exactly right for the top stitching for the rest of the wing but it's a start. I think it turned out pretty good
If you guys have any advice to make it look more 'wing like' I'd love to hear it!
