I would be very grateful for any tips and advice on joint placement markings on body patterns, either how to mark accurately while drafting patterns or checking joint placements for arms and legs on both two and four piece body patterns which are either bought or freely available to download. Thanks in advance.Mary.
Here is a photo of Millie, a bear I made for my daughter. She is made from Stieff Schulte Mohair, 27mm long windswept in antique pink.
I read your post edmondnutmeg ( what a lovely name! ) and agree with you so much as even though I am a hobby bearmaker, I do strive to get that perfect finished look on noses mouths and ears etc as it is, after all, what gives the bear character.
Try tacking the edges together first before machine sewing. I found that even with pinning edges very closely together, sometimes only a quarter inch between pins that somehow one edge slipped out of place as I sewed over the pins carefully.
Hi everyone, I would be grateful if someone out there could give me some advice or instructions on how to calculate measurements to make my own teddy patterns, for example if I wanted to make a pattern for a 16in bear how would I do that? I have tried to find tutorials on this but have been unable to find any. I would like to make my pattern freehand rather than computer aided as I am hopeless on computers, any advice would be much appreciated, thank you in advance!Mary.
Hi to all bear lovers! Can anyone advise on keeping mohair edges together while machine sewing? One seam edge always seems to slip, this is despite the fact that I pin very closely and horizontally together and use the longest stitch on the machine, any tips would be appreciated, thank you in advance.
