Thank you all for your lovely support, I'm so glad you like my Tiddlers!
I'm so glad you like them - I enjoyed making them!
Making little bears has been a completely new direction for me this year ... as you know, I usually make big 'uns!
So I was very flattered to be asked to create these little 8" Tiddlers for the One More Bear shop here in the UK and I am happy to say they will be arriving at the shop tomorrow, just in time for the Christmas rush! :)
Nola, Marvin, Harriet and Dickie
What a great start for this competition! Such super winners - congratulations!!!
I've been considering pledging GMB, but I have that little voice of nagging doubt inside me that tells me I'll just look like a hack and embarrass myself. How difficult is it to get voted in? do you think I'd have a decent chance of it?
You won't embarrass yourself, don't worry, lol! We do have a membership criteria - you must have been designing and selling your own range of bears for at least one year. You also need to have an online gallery featuring at least ten of your recent designs before you are approved for membership ... a website, blog, or a Bearpile gallery, is great for this, for example ... Ebay auction pages are not suitable. All the details for membership application can be found on the front page of the Guild website, so if you'd like to join, please read them carefully and then if you meet the criteria, simply click the 'join up' link and your application will be reviewed.
I am delighted to tell you, it is time for our eleventh 'Special Showcase' presentation of 2012! We have an amazing array of talent on the Guild and this week's slideshow is a wonderful representation of the best of our art, so please visit Guild of Master Bearcrafters to enjoy some of our member's most recent inspiring creations!
Thank you Joanne! I found that as the bears became more of a business and less of a hobby, it became important to allow myself time to play still!
Thank you Sue Ann!
We have a lovely Wintery showcase for you this week, please visit www.masterbearcrafters.ning.com to watch our 'Brrrr, in the bleak mid Winter' slideshow presentation of members' work ... it'll have you reaching for your winter woolies!
That's really kind of you Katy, thank you! I just heard from Susan though and the Bouncifil should be with me by the end of the week, so hopefully my panic will soon be over
Hoping someone might be able to tell me of an alternative supplier of 'bouncifil' as sold by Bear Basics in the UK - they don't have any in stock currently and I've run out ... eeeks!
Not quite sure how to put this delicately, but you may need to consider the weight of the ashes ... I'm sure he wouldn't mind me saying, but my dad was quite a large fellow and when we scattered his ashes my sister and I were both quite surprised by how heavy the box was! (It was quite a large box too!)
I have also been asked to do this before, but have never been comfortable with the idea of handling a loved one's ashes for a collector, it seems to me, too much responsibility to keep them safe. I think I'd prefer to incorporate a personal item such as a watch or ring etc into the bear, rather than ashes.
'Of mice and elephants' is the title of our special Guild slideshow presentation this week!

I love to see what other talents our bear artists have at their fingertips - there really is so much hidden talent here on the Guild!
Bears take up most of my time, but I have also been known to make cloth dolls in my 'spare' time (!) ...
Octavia Orangewitch
Valentina
The occasional softie owl ...
Twink the Pink
... and am often to be found with my knitting needles clacking on a cosy evening ...
Oh, and I love to go out walking and take photographs too!
Leeds Castle, Maidstone, Kent.
I've made big bears for almost twenty years and am happy to say, there is and always has been, a place in collector's hearts for the big 'uns! That said, I think it's wise to be versatile, but the most important aspect of creating bears is to create from the heart, rather than from the spreadsheet, if you want to remain fulfilled in what you do.
Thank you Peter, I'm glad you like him! He found a new home very quickly ... it seems large bears are still very popular!
Glad you enjoyed it Sue Ann, thank you for visiting!
I've just returned from a holiday in wonderful Polperro, Cornwall and of course, couldn't resist naming my latest big bear after this magical ancient smuggling village!
Introducing 'Polperro', a significant 22" of glorious growling teddy bear! He's has just been made available for adoption from www.allbear.co.uk
This week the Guild of Master Bearcrafters invites you to enjoy a spot of Halloween fun! How lovely! Katy, you lucky girl, you do get around! We have a Katy connection in common now Joanne, as I've had the pleasure of meeting Katy in London too!
I love putting the slideshows together, so I'm delighted you like this one! It was so much fun to draw everyone's more unusual work together in a single album ... I think as Karen says, it highlights a fresh, innovative take on bear-making and it is very exciting! Thank you all for checking it out!
Thanks everyone, delighted to hear you like this tipple of teddy bears!
I have been working on a lovely set of three big teddy bears lately, they are exclusives for 'The Bear Shop' in Norwich, UK. I thought you might like to see them before they set off on their way to the shop ...
Introducing, Applejack, Hennessy and Champers - cheers!
