Hi everyone,
I am trying to catch up on my bussiness stuff. I entered the TED Worldwide award 2007.
I did a follow up to check on whether they recieved my entry or not and I have heard nothing back. I have snet a few emails.
Being new to these awards. I guess I am a little concerned. My questions. Have any of you entered this award or know of it at all? I am pretty sure I saw a post here somewhere a while back on this event. I hope it was this one. I also looked for it in the show area here on TT and could not find it.
thanks kassie

opps reload your page if you just looked - made an error on cockatoo -
ok this is really not a challenge, Just thought this would be fun and a change to share what we all love so much - our animals and everyone else’s. I have always love it when my animals make me laugh, so this is simple challenge. Post a picture of one your animals or if you don't have any. Try to get a picture of friends - families pet. Then find a joke that fits the picture or just simply make one up, I am not that good so I got mine off the internet.
hugs all

here mine. This Marshel my bear-eyed cockatoo.
this one is not so clear - he would not stand still for me.
my joke choice
Don't Mess with the Cockatoo
One Late Evening, a burglar broke into a house he thought was empty. Tiptoeing through the living room he suddenly froze when he heard a loud voice say: "Jesus is watching you!"
Silence returned to the house, so the burglar crept forward again
"Jesus is watching you," the voice boomed again.
The burglar stopped dead again. He was frightened. Frantically, he looked all around. In a dark corner, he spotted a bird cage and in the cage was a cockatoo.
He asked the cockatoo: "Was that you who said Jesus is watching me?"
"Yes", said the cockatoo.
The burglar breathed a sigh of relief, and asked the cockatoo, "What's your name?"
"Clarence," said the bird.
"That's a dumb name for a cockatoo," sneered the burglar. "What idiot named you Clarence?"
The cockatoo said, "Same idiot who named the Rottweiller Jesus."
and now just some information on Marshel's breed
Bare Eyed Cockatoo. Called the Bare-eyed or Little Corella in their native Australia.
He will live for over 40-60 years and up. There have been some reported cases of cockatoos living to be over 100, but most of these are unsubstantiated. Marshel is five years old. Yes he will out live me, so I have it set up to past him to one of my Grandchildren.
Species: There are 17 species of cockatoos, most of which are in the genus Cacatua. Most are colored mainly in white, but others come in grays and pinks, blacks, and in the Palm's case, deep blue.
Size: Ranging from the Goffin's, at about 12"-13", to the huge Goliath Palm cockatoo, at 27" long.
Diet: Cockatoos are not usually picky eaters, although there are more than enough exceptions. A varied diet based on pellets is best. The larger sized pellets are usually prefered; even Goffin's often will eat macaw-sized chunks. Fruits, veggies, and pretty much everything else should be added to the diet daily.
Grooming: Most cockatoos LOVE baths... Spray-baths being the usual preferred method. The spray bottle should be set so it sprays a fine mist; start out by spraying *over* the bird, so the mist falls down like rain, but many 'toos will want you to spray directly on them after a while. Cockatoo bathing usually involves much positioning and posing so that the water falls on every area of the body. Most will want you to spray and spray until they're absolutely soaking wet, and this is fine (well, your hand my not be fine after all that spraying, but otherwise!).
Personality: Cockatoos are well-known for their personalities, which can pretty much be summed up in one word - "Cuddly"! They love to be held and loved and touched all over. They'll sit for hours cuddling next to you while you just scratch away. They're very loving, affectionate birds. They're also very playful, and destructive. A well-raised cockatoo is an absolute doll; a hog for attention, a socialite (cockatoos are not usually one-person birds), and just a pleasure to have around. On the other hand, a badly-raised in the wrong hands is a nightmare! Make sure you know what you're getting into before you bring that utra-cuddly, perfectly sweet bird home!
Noise Leval: Cockatoos are LOUD. In fact, they are arguably the loudest of the parrots. Cockatoos WILL scream - don't think you can train them out of it. Cockatoos love screaming and will scream for the sheer joy of screaming, usually in periods once or twice a day (usually morning and evening) Many people who have come to my home will ask about the werid alarm I have. I will tell them that is my bird Marshel. He is a geat guard dog "birdie"
Talking Ability: Cockatoos aren't top talkers. Most individuals say a few words, but many do not. A few become very good. Their voices don't have the tone and quality of an African grey's or Amazon's, but they're usually understandable enough. Marshel has about 50 words in his Vocabulary at this time.

hi Tracy & Lisa
Thank you so much.
(Plus I think the hormones of pregnancy just made her a bit more loving anyway
I think that too Tracy. She waits for me at night to come out and rub her. Poor baby.
I also wanted to tell you all we are still waiting. I am starting to wonder if she will every have this baby . She is just getting bigger and bigger. I think what has happened here is is we got the three mares breed dates mixed up. We breed in July and Aug last year, so my Dawn may have another few weeks to go. Poor girl.
I will be here posting pictures when the little one is born.
So, as we all wait to meet this new baby - hugs to you all.
kassie
Hi Tami - that is so beautiful! What a wonder-us example of love.

Judi hon I liked them all - but I must say #11 -- wherever you go there you are. made me only imagine all the possibilities in life- Kindness - consideration "for others" - Understanding "for others" compassion ""for others " and so on. Maybe it was just because it is the most "un-explained" in the quote, but I like it when I can use my own heart to guide me in an interruption, I don't know. I just think it - opens my mind to all the possibilities. If that make s any sense?
Thank you dear friend - you always have something wonderful to say or do for others. Hugs

Shantell -
Can you just drop one off at my house say in the middle of my living room and I'll pretend I found it.

Have you seen those longhorns in Stayton? They are coming through here any second now!
Well - hon I know how that is about fence mending - that is why a married a strong America cowboy. I got tired of doing all that work myself.
I've always wanted to go to Australia and Africa too, when do we leave?
Let me get the wagon hitched and I will be right over. Maybe we can get a few of those longhorns on the way by. I can see the headlines now - "Middle aged women - wagon riding - cattle rustlers hit Stayton" Yeehaw! ok my silliness is getting way out of hand - time to go check on my mare girl.
hugs sweety
Sandi - Holes - horses - you are right that does not mix., but it is a beautiful place. Rocks are not a big deal. There must be places to ride there - yes?
rabbit holes...they're everywhere...gone down a few myself from time to time when I wasn't looking where I was going.
do you mean you fell into it - I mean like fell into or stepped into. I was thinking when I read that - those are pretty big rabbits - "Alice in Wonderland has nothing on you”
the stream is gorgeous. Thanks for share Sandi

Hey Renae,
Milkface is smaller, but I think Pocket boy and milkface are petty close to size. Purr boy is pretty small too, but the Hidie girl is pretty tiny too...... Oh I don't know they are all so cute.... I can't see past that, but they are pretty small. The only really big one is Big Sis - hense her name. She out sizes them all.
hugs kassie
Hi Patsy,
It has been awhile since I have seen a post from you. Now, only take that as I have not posted much in awhile.
Anyway - it is nice to see you. Thank you they are really cute.

Hi everyone,
I have been too busy to be part of much these days - but this is one I really would like to try.
This is going to be very injoyable.  I have no idea what I am getting myself into.
Well, life just is not any fun unless you jump in with both feet so - I am game. Hey, this is one I can take this outside at night and work on when I am keeping an eye on my mare. hmmmm
hugs all kassie
ok - I have no idea what this means but I got them all right - 10/10
It says " you'd spot a Hannibal lector in seconds at an open source conference. Your liver's safe." Ok?
I knew more of the computer nerds than the serial killers, so I think my "liver is still not so save" as it says.
too funny!!!! that just tells me I spend way to much time on nerds sites in programing fields.
thanks for the laugh shelli

Hi everyone,
Hi Shelli, we are about 9 hours away from each other. My hubby goes to Red bluff for hats shows and he says it is about 4 hours to the border. I know it is a lot to adopt another little one, but if you are able just let me know. I for one would be happy to know she is going to wonderful home. hugs to you for even concidering it.
hey ya Renae - isn't she so sweet. I cal her Hidie because she likes to climb into to things. When she is sitting on me she will look for a place to cruel up into. She is so sweet - she has the most expressive eyes.
Hi SueAnn & Shantell - thank you , they sure are cute. I just could not leave out in the wild to become more unwanted wild cats. I can only hope to find them homes. And soon too, because I am aready getting attached and it will be hard to let them go. My husband laughs because they can be all quite , but when we are talking they will start meowing right after I say something. I was washing dishes and they were in the room in their play pen and he would say something - no meowing. I would reply and they all meow. It is really funny but hard to have a conversation when you are laughing so much. then I stop and it gets quite and he says ok do it again - they start meowing, but I could not stand to hear them cry so I go and pick them up.
oh I did forget to tell you all something. I took the pictures of them on my chair because that is really the color of these cats eyes. The black/white cats really have that color. they are the most amazing color on cats that I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot of cats. I really do fell that they will be close to that color and not change because most baby kittens do have blue eyes.
hugs kassie
Hi Sandi & Renae,
Yup me too - country girl. Were I came from, we call it "The bush". You may know that temp Sandi. I have heard some of my Australian friends call it that too. I am from Canada. I lived in the Yukon in the North West Territories, I even went to the north Pole. For many years I also traveled in all the northern parts of Alberta, British Columbia were I lived in tents and spent many, months wandering around. Sometimes on horse back, sometimes in boats and sometimes on 4 wheelers, depending on were I was going. Well, I have settled down now, but I do miss it a lot.
Your home is beauitful. I love the trees. That would so nice for horseback riding. I have always dreamed about going to Australia and Africa, thoses are two countries I would love to see -someday maybe I will do that. I would also love to see more pictures. Your new home sounds like it going to wonderful. thank you for sharing your home Sandi.
Koalas do eat the eucalypt leaves...and get high on them that's why they sleep all the time!
must be nice.
Yep, a country girl right down to my shit kickers.
Renae - you are just too funny. Well, I still have my boots - don't go out anyway with out them - I have my barn cowboy boots and my dancing cowboy boots. You handy girl you!!! Well, you better get over here and help me with - fence mending - stall cleaning - chicken coop fixing and anything else I can find that needs done.
with that laugh I am going outside to do just that.
hugs you too and thanks for sharing.

Hi everyone here are some more pictures of the wild kittens. I have nick named them only so I know who is who when talking to people about them. There names remind me of their personalities.
If you know of any one who is looking for a really nice kitty, please let me know. I am unable to find a place for them at any of the shelters. They all have no room for these little guys. There are five. Three girls and two boys.
hugs all kassie

 Hi everyone,
Thank you for the compliments on my ponys. I am very proud of them and yes Lanie I am very lucky indeed. Lucky to have them in my life they are a wonderful joy. Excited! oh boy - way too excited. I think I am like a expecting father. Thank you for the well wishes hon. I will give Dawn a hugs for you.
Karen - you are welcome my pleasure. I well for-sure be posting when the little one comes. :photo: I want to share the little one with all my friends here on TT.
Eileen - I also remember that feeling. I think that is why I am out there rubbing her legs and rump and not my husband. He just has no idea how that feels, but then what man does.
We girls just got to stick together at times like these. My husband just breed one of his mares and I told him, he will be here next year rubbing her legs and rump. He just gave me a look. No clue.
Jeannie - I will the minute he/she is born. Well not the minute, but right after.
Renae - we are just the jungle girls of TT. Between my wild pet skunk - wild horses and all my others animals and all your wonderful critters we are defiantly TT jungle girls.
thank you Deborah - she is doing well. I worry about her weight, but the vet says it is mostly baby fat. your horse - "no baby though just plan ole fat" too funny. He is loved I am sure. I have three geldings who try getting big bellies too, by trying to out eat the girls. I can't wait to see the little one too. This will be our first baby from my stallion and I am so exited to see what the baby looks likes. If she would just have it already.
Hey ya Judi - thank you hon- she is really pretty, I love her color very chocolate brown. I am too excited Judi - we need a jumping smily so I can visual show you all just how excited I am. This will be me when the baby is finally here.
hugs all - I will give Dawn a hug for everyone.
