Ruth    (ps you can't put your money in your pockets - think of all that sterling weight added to your bab's - anyway , I think you'll need a mini-safe !!!!  bear_laugh )

What about bum bags ? Money belts ? (not those market apron-y sort  bear_smile ) I shall only have a weeny space
behind the stand to rest things on ....  bear_original

Hi ladies ,
I was wondering how the majority of you like to "store" all that money you make during a show ? I'm assuming a metal cashbox is best ?
I know it's a dumb question really - but , well ... I like to get things right !!   bear_happy
Mini Hugs , Ruth

ruth

HeeHee , I sort of feel as though I have that problem - but coming from the other direction ; The June TBAE will be my first ever live show
and I've been squirreling bears since January (I'm afraid I'm pathetically slow  bear_wacko ) every one I finish has to stay "under wraps"
as I worry I won't have enough pieces .... so I think collectors might assume I'm not making anything - I have nothing new to show ; where did I go etc ??  bear_rolleyes
A shorter "run up" would leave me pieces to reveal each month . I wondered if I was "doing it wrong" !!
Ooooooooooh I can't wait !! I'm soo excited !
Ruth  bear_flower

Congratulations Clare !  :bday:  :bday:  Hello baby Zack !  bear_original  He's a gorgeous squidgy bundle , you must all be over the moon !
Oodles of TT kisses for both of you

Tina !!!   Can I be excited for you too ? Oww , I wish (hope) I can visit this time !  bear_thumb

Oh Sue !! That makes my £11.17 saga (customs  bear_angry ) look paltry !!!!
Of course cars have to be safe , so knowing it's money (well) spent I think you should get your new fabric
inhale deeply ... and stroke ; aahhh ! You'll feel better . Also cuddle it  bear_happy  bear_happy
Think bears...bears...bears...

Ruth

ruth

bear_smile  Thanks Di ! Yes , I'm definitely raring to go ; got steam coming off my needles !  bear_happy
Any case , most of us mini-girlies would crawl over broken glass for our Sassy fabby fabrics !!!
What I have learnt is : Money :- it's stoopid ; let's go back to beads and stones ....

  for all the currency-oppressed !!

Ruth

Well , I've been and collected the parcel - glad to say I'm more than happy with the fabric  bear_thumb
The man at the counter agreed with me that the p.o charges were daylight robbery !!!!
Plus , you know what made this all worse ? Yesterday when I checked the exchange rates I realised I had
in my fury read the amount as £18.31 .... but it was actually £18.031 , so I was only 3 pence over the import limit !  bear_angry  bear_angry  bear_angry
In fact , this morning it was 2 pence  bear_angry

The (UK) moral is ; always leave a good 2 dollars under the current limit . FYI , the parcel label also states the import "gift" limit (person to person)
as £36.00 GBP.
Remember girls ; Royal Mail is printing its own money - in Ransom charges !   bear_tongue

Ruth

ruth

Thanks for all your sympathies - I have found it most soothing !!  bear_smile
I will try to be diplomatic when I go on Monday (and not fling the parcel back across the counter in a bratty tantrum !!  )
No - - I shall "rise above it" !!  bear_whistle
Ruth

ruth

Oh Jane - I hope you do get to go , I'm sure it will be fantastic ! Sadly I won't be able to  bear_sad  but I'll be longing to hear a first hand report !  bear_original
Also , I'm a bit unsure about the having a representative thing ?? Although I don't really feel it will apply to me  bear_happy  bear_happy
Looking forward to the "low down" on the event  bear_smile
Ruth

ruth

Oooh Jodi , I must have posted when you did - Hi !! It's good to hear our postal services aren't the only
money-grabbers ! I'll find it hard to smile sweetly when I go and pay that's for sure !!  bear_laugh
Ruth

ruth

Thanks you two  bear_original  the red mists are starting to clear now ... I shall revert to "stiff upper lip" mode  bear_rolleyes
Yes , £18 GBP is the limit ; I for sure will check that future parcel amounts are well inside that !!
Who knew that 31 pence could cost you £11 plus !  bear_sad  bear_ermm
Hey Ho ,
Ruth

ruth

I just got back from shopping to find a Royal Mail card saying my parcel is not delivered because there's customs
charges to pay  bear_angry  bear_angry  I already got the first parcel ok last week , of mini-bear fabrics ; I always break down orders
so they don't go over the limit ..... so I thought  bear_shocked  ...
It would appear that as the package cost £18.31 it's gone over - ok there's a duty , but Royal Mail are charging £8.00
Yes , that's £8.00 for ????? On my £18.31 parcel I now must pay a total extra £11.17  bear_angry  bear_angry  bear_angry
If that's not being stung I don't know what is - I'm so MAD now , there's NO way I can think about sewing !!!!!

AHHHHHHH !!  bear_angry  bear_angry  Sorry , I just needed to vent somewhere !

Ruth (in a non-productive grump )

The first paragraph talks about how your parents bought you a great big ted , bigger than you (Chiltern)
when you were a small child ..... and I think that these have remained your inspiration ...
I didn't get out the dictionary , so like Maria , single words jump out . Actually I'm embarrassed that my O lev' german
is so .......rusted
