Oh my!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Is she stunning or what? - Boy can you create bears  I envy the prospective owner.

Technology - don't you just love it!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just noticed my message appears twice - what am I doing

I'm a complete novice at making bears, and I'm trying to improve my technical skills by reading the advice all you Ladies give so generously. I'm paranoid however in not using someone else's style or signature features that they have worked so hard to perfect. The result is that I'm totally paralysed in trying to design my own bears. I feel everything's been done already - ear placement, eyes, limbs, nose, face trimming etc. Perhaps its just my lack of imagination. I'll still keep trying to do something original but there are only so many ways to rearrange the pattern pieces, and its difficult to ignore a feature that you find particularly attractive or expressive. This is in no way a complaint or meant to give offence - Its just a point of view.

Hello Sylvia. I understand its a momentous day today -
:cake: :cake: HAVE A REALLY BRILLIANT BIRTHDAY :cake: :cake: from the U.K.

Oh good lord - yet another thing I can't do .........................

Fame again Ladies - Pictures of Grace and Oliver by Malanie Jayne, and, a charming squirrel by Jenny (sorry I don't know his name) - all in this months edition of Teddy Bear Scene.
Beautiful work - I still can't figure out how you do it.

The nearest thing I can think of are stencils for decorating a nursery.
Sandra
I agree - the stuff is brilliant.
Another suggestion is to embroider a lot using pure silk thread. Nothing like it for creating smooth hands. If there is one iota of rough skin on your hands - your silk thread plucks and is ruined - but it pays you back with personal hand care.

The important thing is that she was meant to come to you to be cared for. Lots of animals aren't so lucky to have such a caring owner. You are doing the very best that you can for her and at the end of the day that's all you can do - support the Professionals.
I lost two of my dogs in 2005 so I know how you feel. Other people think your stupid but if they haven't had a dog in their life they don't know what they're talking about.
If her quality of life is good - then she's happy.
I would appreciate a progress report if its possible - I'm sure others would as well.

I know I do.
I'm glad it looks worse than it was, in terms of stealing lives. But I'm just heartsick that yet another place in the world faces such devastation and stress and rebuilding.
:(
Am I the only person who is secretly and superstitiously afraid that all this weirdo, tragic, weather-related stuff of the last year or so (tsunami, Katrina, now this) MEANS something?
I'm not one into forecasting the future or declaring DOOM or THE APOCALYPSE or anything like that. But WOW... I can't remember a time in my 40 years of life that there have been so many significant weather-related events, of such massive devastation, so close together in time and space.
Then again, maybe I was just too young or self-involved to notice before!
Anyway... I'm relieved to hear that, as bad as things got, things could have been SIGNIFICANTLY worse down under. Whew!
I'm not sure things haven't always been this way in a sense - but with communications being so much more immediate we hear about everything sooooooooo quickly. Pretty soon we'll actually see and hear the 'butterfly flapping its wings in the forest'. Perhaps the planet needs these periodic destructions to regerate and remain so beautiful!

I used to 'eavesdrop' on this site before I 'Jumped in' and two thing struck me -
a) How friendly everyone was and appeared very willing to share their expertise.
b) How- magically - someone would always have a solution to a technical problem.
Despite the fact I'm not personally up to that level of technical skill - it is interesting to see everyones approach and solution.
I havn't changed my opinion.

If I put my photo on the site the ENTIRE INTERNET would blow up in a hissyfit.
I'm trying to master software to create an avatar - then I've got to figure out how to follow the instruction to load it up. Please be patient with me - I will get there in the end.

I'm afraid I'm an animal person as well - when I was in hospital they had to arrange to bring my dogs in because I was 'failing to thrive'. With some of the things I come across I sometimes prefer animals to people. (Oh I bet that sounds awful)
I have a thing for Seahorses. and I put tiny seahorse charms in the ears of my Bears as my signature. I used to include them in the signatures of my embroidery pieces as well. (Hey if its good enough for Steiff!).
Listen to me - anyone would think I was a professional artist - Well one can dream right?

Penny - You know what they say - If you want something doing - give it to a busy person . Besides - a Lady can always do at least six things at once - its been genetically proven.
I used to tell my students to priorise things in terms of deadlines, then within that - deal with the one you like the least. That way you won't keep avaoiding it by doing other things first - rather the things you like doing more, become a reward for completing the less desirable things. - does that make sense?.
You can only do what you can do - what doesn't get done - gets left.
Sandra
I must have been on Mars - I've only just seen the newsfootage - I sincerely hope it looks worse than it is if you see what I mean. I hope everyone (including the wildlife) is O.K. Don't you feel sooooo helpless being so far away?
