For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
It is a total mess, after hours on the phone to the US last night they agreed it was all wrong but it was a UK thing and the best form of attack was for us to go on mass and email them with our complaints. It is totally to pot...I checked out other items on ebay and they have done it across the board, but as ebay.com mentioned to me as our section for artist bears and one of a kind is specialised our needs have been overlooked. I was fuming last night as I have an ebay store and could not find any of my listings...I said I am paying to be seen like everybody else....I thought I would alter all my titles to accomodate the search words...but guess what..you can't alter a title!! just have to wait to re-list again..what a waste of money.
If this causes me any more problems I am going onto bearpile and opening up a catagory there to accomodate my supplies. Which will cost less and still give me all the features of Paypal and credit card payment.
Off to sulk in a corner.

Hi Kay and Pauline
Just to let you know I have phoned ebay and basically this test will go on for as long as it takes, they admitted it was not right as you have to find the opt out button first, they will not put it on the top of the page. They also agree the new system by .co.uk is not right as it does not find specifics i.e. when there were 300+ artist bears there are only 39 now, in One of a Kind, its not the usual artist bears you would expect to find, we can only hope that eventually people will find the opt out button and go back to the old way, but that is going to take time. Ebay said if we on co.uk emailled ebay with enough complaints they have to do something about it. I have also noticed that when you pay for featured on .com you normally get a listing in .co.uk well thats not happening today, just picking out random ones very hit and miss. Also you have to be more specific with your tiltle to be found in ebay searches with this new system, just like you would with your website if you want google and the likes to find you.
Lets hope ebay testing this does not effect our sales.

Hi Again
Well what can I say to all of this!! nearly sorted the only thing is if we all press the opt out button then we are back to normal and then they might get the hint...They should have told us they were testing this out before just doing it. What about all the other people out there who just browse for bears and don't see the button, surely we are still going to be lost among all those items like mohair wool and artist jarsLOL Its not funny really.
So press the button everyone, everyones vote counts!
Good Luck

Hi Pauline
Thanks for that, its just I have had numerous complaints that people cannot find my items anymore, so obviously like me they did not see that message. Ebay chat live was a waste of time, they did not understand what I was going on about and was it one item I was looking for ...I said No! 60 of them in my store that I have paid to be listed under bear making supplies..they replied that I should ring them to resolve...so guess what I am doing next...why do they have to mess????
Be back again...I am like a bad smell!!!!!

I'm back, just to say I have had an interesting chat with Chloe from Dusty Attic and it appears all 123Reg users are off they have a problem, which they are dealing with. Now I know...thank goodness for that...I thought I had done something wrong.
I would like to send a very big thank you to you all, and say what a marvelous forum TT is.

Thanks for keep checking my site......can't sort this out! But as I have been surfing the net, there are alot of bear websites not available, so its looks like not just me. Mine and 4 others have been down since 4pm yesterday..I would just check your websites through a link to see if its ok...it appears to be UK ones....I am with Host Europe/Pipex but checked them out and no problems just a little slow. Just will have to wait and see.
Hugs and best wishes

Hi Chloe
As you know, I have had the same email, but wanting to give me his credit card details and wanting shipping to USA, but he wanted to know if I had a store to purchase from...this rang alarm bells as he contacted me through Bearpile, and that clearly states my website. Just seems fishy, I get a lot of scams but they are trying different ploys now for us to fall into their traps.

What a relief for us all, I hate being beaten by the system.

Hi Jenny
Tried listing a featured item, no problems, no zip code, but my boxes are checked flat rate of shipping to all, as I state only in listing the cost of shipping, also state I ship worldwide.
Best off luck.

Hi Jenny
I hope it works out or we are both back to the drawing board....I will be so upset if I can't list as usual on .com.
Good Luck
Jacqui
Hi Jenny
I listed a bear as featured late Thursday night and no zip code was asked for, and listed another as normal listing on .com on Saturday night no code asked.....has it just changed on Sunday? I am worried now as I only list on .com. When I registered with Ebay it was on the .com site not UK, I remember then having problems with my post code, but got round it, so I wonder if it depends on which site you originally registered with as a member.

Hi Chrissi
I agree with you, security is a touchy subject. I would not put my loggin details onto someone's laptop, even though they perhaps turn away, sometimes your details come up on the next loggin if you are not careful. I found out last Feb at Hugglets that my chip and pin card machine would not receive satelite signal as I was in the basement and the signal strength was no good, so had to keep running upstairs to take a card payment, kept us fit so wireless would be a good option in those circumstances, but still too risky..to be fair its the customers security we have to look out for, not just the fact of taking a payment. I really do think there is no way around it that credit card transactions are best at shows for both parties. If it is a problem to accept card payments, apparently in this country the Market Traders Association offer really good deals to people wanting to take credit cards, plus the have other deals available like public liability.

Hi Everyone
I don't feel its right OUTING this lady - she know's who she is and she has tried to justify her actions to me, but I am sorry I don't not agree with her selling tactics - lifting email addresses of Guestbooks is just taking liberties and not as she says "Free Game", I have contacted ebay as she states she does not contact bidders direct but ebay do it for her on her behalf, they select people who are bidders and are matching criteria to her and send them a newsletter on her behalf, I don't get this as I have a store and I have to have people subscribe to my Ebay Newsletter first. I have asked them to explain this to me, also she states she goes onto ebay and sends out a message to members via ask member a question, which you can get from the feedback page if they are a buyer and emails them asking them to join her Teddy Bear Group for newsletters, when they sign up she has there email address and then contacts them directly as the copy of the email she sent to the lady I know about does not mention directing you to ebay but to her website with a list of bears available and there prices. I would like to point out to TT members that if you have a bravenet guestbook you have to register it to the Hall Of Fame to gain a list of all the bravent guestbooks, funnily enough I never registered mine so its not in their listing, so can only guess she has gone onto my website found my Bravenet Guestbook and lifted my vistors and customers email addresses. She is a TT member and as previously mentioned I cannot pressume I am the only one she has targeted, if she has gone to all the trouble of wading through bravenet guestbooks like she has admitted then whats to stop her coming onto here checking out every artists website (she has said its very time consuming and hard work but well worth it) to see if they have a bravenet guestbook. I can't say anymore on this subject I am just so glad I was informed by my customer about this and now take measures to minimize this breach of privacy for my collectors.
Good Luck to You All and Thank you for your support and Personal messages.

Hi Chrissi
I agree, I would like something positive to come out of this, at least a few ideas have come forward on how to protect your subscribers today, but next time can it be someone else and not meLOL
Hugs to you all

Hi Jenny
It is sneaky, this lady says Bravenet allows this to go on - well NO it does not, I have just logged into my Bravenet account and there is a section for reporting Bravenet Abuse - SPAMMING!!! they do not allow it at all so I have emailled them my complaint on how this lady is going onto all Bravenet Guest Books doing a search on teddy bear guest books specifically and going onto them, clicking on the envelope and getting the person who has written a comment email address (I did not know anything about this until she told me this is one of the ways she gets email address, not off auctions, talk about real cheek!)She says it take her ages but it is well worth it - YEP!!! FREE as well, let us do all the paying out and listing and get our customers (sorry apparently I can't call them MY customers they are everyones - but I thought if they bought from me an not her they were one of my customers - WRONG AGAIN) to sign our guestbooks for her to come along and get the info just like that.
I have told Bravenet that I will be removing my guestbook as this is not good enough, we go to the trouble of keeping the subscribers email address private on the emails we send out notifying of our new bears etc, but this makes it all a waste of time if you can get some information off there. I do delete advertising signings, but this is getting beyond a joke.
So my next advice is check out your guestbooks!

Jacqui
think I better go back into my holeLOL
Hi again
I agree Debbie it is not free for the taking, this lady says that if you put your email address onto the worldwide web you are free game, desperate rings out here, apparently the member is using bravenet guestbooks as a way of obtaining email addresses, as she says bravenet allow this, to me this is not right as when I sign a guestbook it is me saying I like this persons work, not as an open invitation for all and sundry to put me on their mailing list.
As you can imagine this person has totally turned it around and is saying I cannot claim sole entitlement to my customers, well I think I will leave it at that point and ignore anymore communication with her as I would be hitting my head against a brick wall. I have brought it to peoples attention of what is going on, perhaps not just by one person only, so the lesson to be learnt is be careful.
Hugs
