Teddy Talk: Creating, Collecting, Connecting

Penny please explain how collectors start and maintain collecting with out a retail componet to the colectiable concept..and how does that store stay open without a profit margin ..spell it out to me because this is how many bear artists think..we are at the bottom of the collecting world right now with little or NO exposer  no stores as 95% have closed ..bear mags are the smallest we have EVER sean and shows are down or have gone away..how does your marketing collectable concept benafit anyone but yourself AND only on the short run..shows and retail HAVE to be apart of a collectable market OR YOU DO NOT HAVE A collectable you have a craft item!!

now that I have used up my braketime I need to go back to getting the 6 bears I need to finnish for the Nevada City teddy show as this being the 24year I would like to make the best showing I can so the collectors have som excitement over with some new designs as many only get to a few shows and it's their time to injoy time and people that love bears as much as they do...

EBAY is tough even for bearmakers that have been working at it for many many years !!! I am like you ebay has been a rough testy expencive place to connect with collectors..I think ebay takes a bit of manipulating that i just cant seam to figuar out how to do or if i even want to ..BUT if i am going to keep living on my bearmaking im gonna HAVE TO start to get it right lol...As to your bears I took a look at your web page,and i dont see anythink glairingy scary about them at all so but down the baseball bat and stop hitting yourself with it ...Im my opinion the one thing i might try to move to is trying to use hipper funkyer trims and finnishing  stuff...Your designs are very cool and kinda young and HIP yes HIP !! the big feet are great and the non tradtional head and bigish eyes are just that cool and funky BUT some of the trims are very traditional ...I would suggest that you use your greaat skills of crochaing and make some cool trims IE felted hats.collors (with fuzzy stuff sticking out allover ) stuff like that. I just think that you are useing a nontradtional bear design(a darn good one by the way) and defalting to tradtional trims and the two dont allways go hand in hand...Its not your skills we can see that and dont spend any time on thoughts like that !!!..

PS pick up your tool's and start to play when we play we allways find a solutions.

Split the difference and do both !! Use a trick that I like to do BUY a longer pile MATTE mohair that will give you the ratty wellloved trad look and then if you want fluffy mod guy ..Take a FORK(yes a fork) and firmly place it into the matte at the backing and PULL thru the mohair..Do not use a brush of any type or you will get a very scary fuzzy afro..now buy a product called "SHOW SHEEN" at PetCO (JUDY will know this product very well from showing animals) ..use this prosses and you will get one of the softest silky curly mohair you have ever touched !!! 
Ok I have now given away one of my most guarded secrets....collectors have said my bears that i have used this on say the bear is the sofest and most touchable bears in there bear den ..use it and tell me what you all think  esp judy as i know she must have a can in her barn!!!! I know about it because I showed horses for many years ...

Shading is so scary to me because I get so few done and need then to live off I am afraid to commit (such a man) to shading I NEED YOU TO TELL ME WHAT YOU WOULD DO AT THIS POINT JUDI !!! WHAT color how much and the like LOL... Need to have hand held for a change

Hi folks new design for me smaller 9 inchs  and neddle felting into mohair ..been blue as of late and thought I needed to start to get excited about somthing new and diifferant..I got a few others done for this weekends show hear in cali so I will show ya what i have been up to ...Be very Honest as I need to make changes or stop working on others...lol

So sorry about your loss ..This year for me is about loss and change and I know that good friends and bear buddys are the key to moving foward so stick around the board and make a few bears ..It helps trust me..
I cant help but feel angry about that product "greanie" how do we as a group pass on the word about the dangers ..Because lets face it a room full of p***ed of bearmakers can be very scary AND affective !!! can we put something together?

OK OK OK I am on board with this challenge as i need to learn how to use my coral program to make images for my sublimation system for coffee cups tees and other stuff ,as the other scott was the computer person so when he left all the basics of how to do this went with him(grrr) so i have thousands of dollars in equiptment and supplys that are going to waste and bill are coming due again(need a few good sales on ebay) ANYWAY blablabla boohoo boohoo I need to do this and I want to so
My mane problem is I can't understand how to make a element stand on it own with a transparcy to then be able to combine/stitch them into a new project i have played and can do most of the other stuff(Ithink) but i JUST CANNOT get this to work at all

What  do you folks think ? donnas over to the house and we got to try a few new designs of a Idea we had to use all the old bear mags we have.. Well I searched the web for a story on them and see that thay skated well and kissed and made up but the fall left them so far behind they could not get to the podeium.... Rita your curlers are great and VERY goodlooking !!! HELP my dish was blocked out just when the italy team was just about to skate !!!! she was in total diva mode and cold shouldering him to the max !!(Italian woman are tough) and then my cable/blacked out   WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED!!!!! What a sweet li"l guy !!! I have been house and pet sitting for a bear artist and she was very slow internet connection (very slow ) so I have not abanded this thread I just cant post with my normal speed and long winded self ...I have been watching every sec of the olympic's and for the first time in years and years I have only found the one you talked about !! what is going on with bears? we need to fix this for the next one in BC CN in 4 years ! we need to design one for the game and get it to the comity to be the Mascot !!! ok you CN artists start working!!!

What are your child labor laws in the UK ? Use the duck tape on his bottom and put them li"l hands to work Pre making your screws and nuts for your joints !!! LOL
