Thank you everyone, so much ! ! ! I wouldn't be doing this if it weren't for all the encouragement and support from everyone here on TT.
Amelia, how lucky you are to live in such a beautiful part of the country. I envy you. We will make a trip up that way, maybe next year. Thanks for the invite. I'll be sure to look you up when we do. Shoot, a bear making party would be a blast.
That's a great story. So many twists and turns, I'm dizzy.
Jodi, the answer to your question is . . . . . . . . no, you stuff your turkey from the rear end. You don't have to make a hole in his back then ladder stitch it together.
I want one.
Thank you Tami and Debbie. Oh, I forgot to put that on my website. I meant to, I'll go fix that right now. Debbie, that's a tough decision to make. Hmmm . . . I decided it was ok to change my name because I haven't sold my bears before. It would have been a tough decision if I had been in business for a while.
Tami, thanks for the compliment on my snowman . . . and my website.
I decided a few months ago that my goal for 2007 would be to "go into the business". I haven't sold my bears in the past but have decided to take the plunge and I'm quite excited about it. I'm right on schedule.
I've changed my business name to Swan Valley Bears and have a freewebs website up and going www.freewebs.com/swanvalleybears . Check it out if you have a minute and let me know if it's OK. Do the pictures take too long to download? I'm working on a www.swanvalleybears website as well, but it's not up yet. I hope to have my son-in-law the IT guy help me with it during my visit this month to their home in Nashville. It's not as easy as freewebs.
Swan Valley, Montana has the largest population of grizzly bears in the lower 48 states. The bears and other wildlife are studied and protected there. When I read about this, I thought, hmm . . . I like that name and it's all about the bears.
I'll change my avatar as soon as I have my new logo that Penny is working on for me. In the meantime, it will still be the BaroneBear avatar. I'm pretty excited to get my logo too. I can't wait to see what Penny comes up with.
My first show will be the Nevada City International Teddy Bear Convention in April. I'm sure I'll be asking tons of questions to get ready for it.
Here's Finn. He's the first bear I have finished under the new name.
They have that brush at our local craft store but it's $18. It looks interesting, but I don't want to pay that much for it. I wonder if you could use another type of brush, like a stippling brush. That might cost as much though.
Christine, they are beautiful ! ! ! I've put one on my "want" list already. Can't wait to see what else you come up with.
I'll jump on board here too. Ditto, ditto. I love all the new creations. Holidays have taken time away from the computer (oh no ! ! ! )
Ditto what Sophie said. Mozilla Foxfire is much more secure than using Microsoft Internet Explorer too. I use Yahoo for my mail, though. The nice thing about it is that all your mail is stored on their server, not your hard drive and if you change ISP's, you don't ever have to change your email address. Also, you can get your email from any computer. Same would go for Thunderbird. I'll have to check that out, except that I've had my email address with Yahoo for years.
Thank you so much, girls. I appreciate your kind comments, they are very encouraging.
You and your daughter will be in my prayers.
Sandi, your web site looks great. What program do you use to create it?
Tina, I think they are all prescious. Emily-Rose is my favorite, though. Such a sweet girl. I like the long fur on Cupcake too. All adorable ! ! !
Oh yes . . . I love them ! ! !
Especially the pink one. All that hair, and those little faces - irrisistible. This is NOT willy-nilly spending. This was a most important purchase, if you ask me.
I don't know of Nicky, I'll have to check out her work.
Pics? Pics? I don't see 'em. I wanna see 'em.
Thank you all ! ! ! I'm really lovin' this needlefelting.
Tina, I only made this one. I hadn't thought to make more to sell. But I am going to sell at the Nevada City show in April. Maybe I'll make more to sell there. Do you think they would sell? I wouldn't have any idea what to price him. Hmmm, I'll have to think about that.
I installed the MSIE7 update to hubby's computer and couldn't get online at all. I had to do a restore to a week prior to get rid of it. After that, I didn't install it to my computer.
SueAnn, MSIE is Microsoft Internet Explorer. Orange . . . don't know either.
OMG, that is soooooo funny. I just passed it on to my loved ones. I might just have to look around the house for those things I haven't finished too.
Tooooooooo cute. I love that the duck is watching TV.
Have fun, relax. Housework will wait.
Shelli, the other day I was reading a post in the needlefelting section with a link to a hair felting tutorial. It was pretty good and probably just what you're looking for. I'll see if I can find it.
OK, I found it in another forum. Here it is.
I would have to leave the room for a few minutes to gather my composure. Not sure how I would react then. Argh.
When I was an insurance agent, I had a client whose grandsons had a water fight in her home with water squirters that they thought had water in them. They had bleach in them. You know what the furniture, curtains and carpet looked like when they were through? White polka dots and stripes. Her insurance paid for the damage, by the way.
Oh Jodi, I know you must be tired to the bones with all that retail work. Christmas was pretty quiet for us so I'm not too drained. I did all my Christmas shopping in two trips to the stores. We're helping daughter Paige move from SF bay area to Sacramento this week. Then I might be tired. Then off to Nashville to visit daughter Tracy for two weeks. I plan on packing as much bear & NFing stuff as I can so I'll have something to do while they're at work during the day. We'll see what I can come up with.
