I'm using heavy duty thread and just doing whatever stitch they taught me at the fabric store. I don't know what the heck kind of stitch it is. I just stick the needle in the bear and pull it through. I'm a sewing idiot. If you live in the States, I can give you my number if you can send me a PM. I do better talking to people than I do communicating over the web.
Holy lightning, my side is hurting from reading this thread. Y'all are hillarious. I'm too much of a newby to understand a lot of what you guys are saying, but your stories are absolutely cracking me up.
Hi, guys. I have a really basic, duh sewing question from a complete newby. I know this site is for bear artists who know what they're doing, but I really need some help. When I try to sew the bears up, for some reason my thread likes to get into loops and I don't realize it until I've made several stitches and I wind up wasting thread. How do I get this not to happen? Thanks.
Thanks, guys. The second bear is finished. She is from the same cloth and uses the same pattern, but I knew what I was doing a little bit more this time. I'll post her picture tomorrow.
Lenora, you are my hero. Thanks for uploading it for me. I don't know why it didn't work, but I definitely can't edit photos or I'll make a hot messe. I'm sure you remember what happened when I tried resizing Prot's picture. Major-league disaster.
If you go to the showcase section, my bear is there, I hope.
It said that it uploaded it, but as I can't see it, I'll have to get someone to tell me if it worked.
I'm on a couple of message boards about commercials and the people there love that pSA, so I think they would get a kick out of that. I've heard a lot of them say they want a house hippo.
House hippo, lol. Is that like those little guys from the old PSA?
I would like to introduce you to B.G.B. His name stands for Bluegrass Bear. I actually didn't know how to sew until I made this little bear. Lovenshire gave me this pattern and the lady at the fabric store got me started sewing. I do not have vision, so I don't know how visually appealing he will be, but I love him. He is made out of a fleece throw blanket someone gave me. I liked the texture, so I decided to turn it into bears. I like bears that are very soft and have unusual textures. Sorry, guys, but he's definitely not perfect.
He's basic with a capital B. If I copy and paste before I delete, will the picture also be there or do I need to redo it?
Teddybearsforum.com is my favorite bear forum. They have sections for all types of bears from artist bears to antiques. They even like to hear about my beloved manufactured bears. There's also teddybearfair.com. They have a forum, but they seem to be mostly geared to artists who want to show their bears. The section for collectors doesn't get a lot of traffic.
Thanks. I can't believe I did that.
I just posted my first bear that I have made in the wrong section. I was trying to find the forum where you can show pictures of your bears, but instead I accidentally posted in the sales forum. Is it okay to re-post it where it is supposed to go? Sorry about that.
Aw, I bet he is very cool.
Sorry for the stupid question, but can you really see the backing under the fur? I'm trying to picture how that would work.
