Thank you Erin for the great tutorial. I have been meaning to try this technique for some time now....I normally sculpt my paw pads with Apoxie clay, but I like the idea of the soft feel. I'll give it a try!  bear_thumb  bear_thumb
Do you think I could make the cast out of Apoxie clay instead of wax? Or would maybe the silicone stick to it?

Francesca

I sculpt paw pads and claws using Apoxie clay. I used to use Fimo, but Apoxie is more resistant. I paint the paw pads, and attach them very firmly using instant glue. You just need to be careful to expose the fabric where you want to attach the tiny piece, trimming the fur. I find it a good solution. The pads are very firmly attached, and don't break that easily (I don't design my pieces for children, so I guess they wouldn't be child proof....collectors should be more delicate I think!  bear_original )This is a picture of fox feet I did using that technique.

Thelma, I am now working on a French bulldog puppy. I wanted to give myself a real challenge, what with the extra short fur and the detailing in the muzzle area, I will really test my boundaries!  bear_original

Michelle, I have never done monkeys. I have 'monkey with Apoxie sculpted face' in my 'to do' list. Don't know when I'll get to it though!!  bear_grin

Thelma, I have never tried lock line. I use plastic covered wire in multiple shafts, and bind them together then cover them with felt cloth. It is sufficiently flexible but holds the shape very well, and can be bent at angles which can't be done with lock line (I have been told). I am quite happy with how it works. bear_original

Thank you so much Anthony and Connie!  bear_flower  bear_flower
