Jane, are you OK?
I, hubby and Paige (daughter) are going to Nashville to visit Tracy (other daughter) on January 4th. I figure we'll have Christmas then and I'll do my Christmas shopping when I get there. That way I don't have to haul presents on the plane with me. Might find some after Christmas sales too.
Merry Christmas, Patsy.
Hi Sonya. Bubbly sounds great. I'll have a glass.
What is a chocky? I haven't bought any Christmas presents yet. Bad, I know.
Well, Merry Christmas everyone. I'm here at the party. Yep, Aleta, pretty quiet.
Wendy,
The white is the Wool batt that comes from the needlefelting section of Edinburgh. They recommend using it as the core and covering it with the died wool for coloring, which is what I did with the black. I don't think that is the same as white stuffing. I couldn't afford to stuff my bears with it. It's almost $1 per ounce.
Debbie, I'm not a horse person, but I still had tears in my eyes watching these amazing riders and horses. Beautiful! ! !
Also, check out the "Pattern" section of the Library here on TT. There have been a gazillion threads about pattern design. You can do a search too. Like Heather says, books and patterns are excellent resources. Nancy Tillberg's "101 Bears to Make" and Jennifer Liang's "Teddy Bear Art" have excellent sections on design.
Thankyou all, your comments are soooo encouraging to me.
Marion, I just love your doggies. Bostons are the best.
This is what I used for Buster. Since I'm new to needlefelting, I'm afraid I don't know that much about the different fibers. I can't wait for Bobbie to publish her book because I want to know. The white is just core wool and the black is kind of matte looking roving. I have a drawer full of fiber that I've purchased from different places and I'm not sure what they are, to tell the truth. Bad, huh?
Here's my needlefelted Buster. He's 5 inches long and 2 inches high. Whoops, I realized he belonged in the needlefelting section.
Thanks, Michelle and Jenn. Yep, Bostons are the greatest dogs.
What fun, Gemma. I love the bear in the picture. I'm game.
Here's the real Buster
Bobbie, that website had a great demonstration on carding. Who knew? I never would have figured that out right. Anyone who wants to know how to card your wool, check out the website in Bobbie's post above.
Wow, Bobbie ! ! ! Thank you so much. I have a pair of hand cards. They seem to be in pretty good condition. They still have fiber in them. I love the idea of the dog grooming brushes, though. I think I'll pick up a pair. I don't want to damage the hand carders since they're sort of family heirlooms. I'm off to check out the website you listed. I have some fiber that needs carding.
I can't wait for your book.
Hi Bobbie,
Since we seem to have a little discussion going here, I've been wondering, when do you need to card the fiber?? I have a carder (is that what you call it?) It belonged to my great grandmother. They grew cotton in the south in the 1930's. Would you card the dyed roving that is smooth and "in-line"? Do you know what I mean by that? I've noticed that it does help to pull and pick it apart with my fingers before felting.
Articicle, you must be learning a lot from your question, huh? You will love needlefelting once you try it.
Hi Toby, Thank you. He was much fun to make.
This is the Needlefelting section. I did post it in both NF and Showcase sections since many don't look at the NF section.
Yes, the class is our Judi Paul's online class on Ebearz Online University. Here's the link if you want to take a look. There are a lot of great classes to take.
Yes, I think I'm getting carpal tunnel syndrome from fanning my face. I used to love to wear sweaters. I still love my sweaters but can't wear them.
Tammy, you are so cooooooool. Awesome tree. I think I'll print it and make an ornament out of it for my tree.
Gladys, how about "Flower", as in flower child?
What fun, I'll be there.
Heather, I'm working on a website now. As soon as finished, I'll swap with you too.
Thank you, all.
Jodi, I wish you lived close too. That would be such fun ! ! !
Thank you, thank you, all. Your kind words mean a lot to me.
