Teddy Talk: Creating, Collecting, Connecting

Hi everyone!

I'm so sorry to hear that so many of you are feeling very unwell at the moment with one thing or another and I think most people have been touched by illnesses one way or another.  A lot of people are just feeling fed up too .....  so .......  I hate to say this but .....  When you are feeling a bit better in yourself and  ......  if you hate this weather ...... there is only one thing to do!!!! 

Put on your wellies and go walkies!!!!!!!!!! 

I dragged myself out this afternoon in the wind and slight drizzle, dressing up to make sure I was not going to get soaked or anything and  the weather was miserable but mild today though somewhat windy at times and it was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!  So airy, and refreshing and revitalising!!!  Sorry,  I don't mean to sound like a TV advertisement but this did me the power of good!!!!!  YAY!!!! :dance:  :dance:  :dance:

I am sure at times we just look out of the window and the sight we see just makes us feel miserable before we start the day, but if you meet it head on, it's really not that bad!   Just keep away from the shops!

I am a bit mad because I actually love it when it's really windy and overcast, particularly down by the sea as it's so invigorating.  I would much rather it be like this than a miserable hot, sticky and humid eighty degrees plus, when you feel too worn out and exhausted to do anything and just sit around like a melting blob!!! :redface:

I can hear you all saying that I am mad!     Weeeee!   Yes, I guess I am!!!!!!!!!

Oh, .......   I just couldn't resist posting this!!  A very dear friend of mine in Canada has just sent me this recipe which I should think would be absolutely brilliant at a child's party. :bday:   They would love it!!! (maybe!).    Whether you could bring yourself to eat it is a different matter!!  It's the "bit" dangling over the side of the tray that got to me!!!  Ha!!

Oh my word,  what can I say.  When I joined this thread yesterday, I had only seen Faye on the photo you supplied but had not looked at the web link.  I sometimes try not to look at these because I get way too upset, but I forced myself to have a look a few minutes ago.  I could hardly believe what I was seeing, got myself quite upset  and can understand the overwhelming urge to help this poor little dog.  What a mortifying sharp contrast to the pictures I was viewing only a minute before supplied by Tami on the various "Cute Animal Pic of the Day" items.   Wouldn't it be the best thing ever if little Faye could reach that title .....  here's hoping and praying for her.

What  lovely person you are to help this poor little dog.  I can see why you were so drawn to her, I think anyone would want to help her.  :hug:  My pets have been rescue animals and when I have been looking around the various rescue sites, RSPCA etc., I have wanted to rescue just about every cat or dog there!  All have quite sad stories to tell.  I say, you just have to "listen to your heart".  It will soon let you know . 

I wish you and little Faye all the best in the world, you both deserve it.

Hi everyone,

Many thanks for the information Paula but, ...  Oh boy, do I need help on this!!!!  I am getting concerned about this!    I only used to make a few bears a year but since an article on my bears in Teddy Bear Scene, things have somewhat changed and I think I probably need to start filling in a few forms!  My problem is that I have always kept a sort of itemised list which is about five years in the making, but it is only one long list which shows everything from purchasing mohair, stuffing etc. to which bears have been sold.  If I have to start doing Self Assessment forms, at what point on my long list of purchases and sales do I say "right, this is where I start from"??

If anyone can help me please regarding information on good spreadsheets or software packages which cover all eventualities, then I would be very grateful.  Maybe I need a good piece of software to help me keep everything on track so can anyone recommend any?  I am off to get some information tomorrow so thank you Paula for bringing this up, though I didn't sleep very much last night for thinking of it!!!    It is bit of a worry but I suppose the only way to tackle it is head on!!  I'm such a worrier!

Well, I'm sitting here with my cat Woody, who I am keeping company because of all the horrible fireworks we have around here.  Hubby is working, so I guess I will be spending it on TT!!!!

Hello Everyone!!!

This is just a little quick note to wish everyone a fantastic time over Christmas!  I can't wait for my Christmas pudding!!   More importantly, I would like to also wish everyone a happy and healthy new year, and hope that all your dreams and wishes come true.

Hi there,

I too am the same as Ellen, Paula, and Jenny.  I would love to attempt making older looking bears  but just prefer using the more luxurious interesting and dense mohairs!  I have often thought that I would make a more worn looking bear but when I stand in front of a display of different mohairs, it is always the luxurious end that is calling out to me!!  I have purchased the more scruffy-type of mohair with the intention of getting creative and making new designs for this type of mohair, but just can't rustle up the enthusiasm to do it!!!  I have tried in the past but then find that I just can't "ruin" the mohair!  It is definately an art in achieving a good result and producing a good looking "worn" bear, so I admire people who can do it.  I find it is the beauty of the mohair that gets me inspired for a design, but I am not very good at doing it the "other way around" if you see what I mean!!  I have cheaper sparse mohairs in my workroom that have been there for probably three years and that are just never used.

Ellen - you sound so much like me it's untrue!!!!!  I am very easily distracted by de-cluttering and absolutely love it!!!  I think it should be my profession to go and de-clutter people's houses!!!

I would like to have a go at an open-mouthed bear but feel too scared to do it!  I am going through a period of not being able to just "get on with it" and get going on a project!  If there seems to be a problem, I am tending to just leave it!!  Must be the time of the year!!!

Sorry, I am rabbitting  on - better go and ice the Christmas cake!!! (another job I hate doing and have been leaving !!!) 
I really must get some "ooommph" for Christmas!

My brain is going!  I posed the question, but forgot to mention my worst prezzie!

It was a hat      ........ but not any old kind of  old hat      .......   no,    ......  this was a balaclava!!!!!!!!    ...........   and, to add insult to injury,   ...........  it was BRIGHT GREEN !!!!!!!!!!      

Did they think I was going to break into a pea processing factory!!!!!!   Aaarrrggghhhhhhhhh!  You could only see my eyes!!!!!!!!

(maybe that was a good thing!!!)
