Yay SarahJane....congratulations, and now we know what you look like....
Lynette, my thoughts are with you at this hard time. Places like this forum are good for sad times as we are all friends, here to help or lend an ear. Last year I lost my Mum and the girls on Cheap Chat were such a rock for me at this horrible time.
Hugs and kisses go out to you....
Nancy, he is just adorable. I have started needlefelting on mohair bears but just can't work out how to start a complete needlefelted critter. Heading off on holidays soon so will take my kit with me and be determined to work it out....
Wow, all these beautiful bears. I am half way through with my shot at this challenge. The material I am useing is not actually a fur as such but is a synthetic...
Does that count?
Grandchildren sitting this week so won't be able to continue with it until the week-end..
To all that were touched by this event, prayers and thoughts go out to you all.
Even in Australia we were connected as Aussies lost their lives too on that dreadful day.
May God be with you..
Hi Kate,
I bought the beginners kit from Beary Cheap which had the fibre, needles and instruction book included in the kit.The wool fibre was a mixture of cream, rust black, pink and white shanks. I think it cost me about AUD$35.00. If you go to Beary Cheaps website they have all sorts of colours to choose from.
I actually got it about 2 years ago but couldn't work out how to make little bears so it has been in the bottom draw.
Glad I didn't throw it,
Won't have time this week to do any sewing as our little 3 year old grandson is coming to stay for a few days, my brother is visiting from interstate in the middle of the week and then Friday night we are having the 9 and 7 year old grandsons staying.
I think it will take me about a week to recover...
Yes Sarahjane, the needlefelting is around the exsisting nose but only because I am redoing bears already made.
Not sure if that is the way to do it or nose done after needlefelting. Any suggestions from the experts?
Thanks all for your comments it is so good for the morale...
Tammy, this little puppy is terrific, I have worked out how to needlefelt on a bears face but can't get the gist of a free standing felted critter. I agree that he would be a great little friend to a teddy...
I have just started to experiment with needle-felting and am transforming some of my current bears. Here is one that I have just completed. Do you think he looks like a Sebastian?
This is what he looked like before his make-over.
As we are creative artists when making a golly or bear how they turn out is where we are.
Sounds a bit strange, what I mean is the finished item is reflecting our feelings or creativity at the time. Be it traditional or pushing the envelope.
I say go with the flow, the end product is the mirror of what was in your mind....be it something traditional or something a little different.
I have made a few bears where I have thought, my god where did that come from as they are so different to what I usually make. They then become a source of another path to follow..
Waffled on a bit then, sorry..
Wow, one day I would love to get to this standard...absolutely fabulous...
Tyler my other needle-felted bear is now on e-bay.com.au
My before and after pics of needle-felting. I am still feeling my way with this craft add on to bears but it is so rewarding.
Wow, the image upload worked this time.
Although they are a bit large on my computer. Will downsize next time....
Thanks Krista, I was having a spot of bother uploading images so I reverted back to the image hosting way.
Even though we have had this computer for a few years I still have frustrating times with it.
Something will work the first time I do it and then the next time it won't....
I can only see one half of him but what I can see looks great.
I have a polar bear cut out ready to go, hopefully no "bubble neck" this time thanks to advice from fellow "tt" gals.
Wow, yes please....
I finished this little bear yesterday. Made from synthetic fur which I lined with iron-on interfacing. I have needle felted behind his eyes and he has plastic beads in his feet so he can stand all by himself.
He is approx. 10 inches and maybe he is trying to will it to rain here in Australia by wearing his safety raincoat and hat.
We could sure do with the rain..
Now you have got me wondering what was that question going to be... don't tell me I love surprises...
I like to try different fabrics with my bears and this little one is made from Lapin fur.
She now lives in Queensland, Australia.
Thanks Patsy,
Actually I have quite a few jumpers already knitted if you are interested in them for your bears, email me and I will send you some pics if you like.
Thanks Heather,
I have recieved Kristas email and have answered her with lots of questions,
poor girl, I am a relative newbie at this. Have done a couple of bear swaps but not goodies.
Its very exciting.
This is Jake made from Razzle. I have hand-knitted his jumper. He now lives in Western Australia.
Here is my contribution to the Razzle examples. Have used it a couple of times.
This one sold on e-bay.
I have a couple more bears in cream shades of razzle will try and find the pics tomorrow. There is certainly a great range of synthetics, the challenge will be awesome.
This is a bear I made from Synthetic fur from Beary Cheap Supplies.
Vanilla Cream was the fabric, very soft to work with.
I have done a couple of double neck joints and yes they were "bubble necks",
Am definately going to do the capping next time, Thanks Kelly..
