Oh Maria, thank you so much!!!!!      I haven't laughed so much for ages!! Apart from the bat bit (!) our moggy, Woody, does the same thing virtually every morning. The little rotter also does it during the night! Sometimes I pretend I am asleep just to see how far he will go - if the stomping all over my body doesn't work, then he will lean on my throat and purr as loud as he can. When that doesn't work, he resorts to tapping my cheek with his paw, but when he knows he's not getting anywhere, he gets a bit more butch, he gathers all his strength and gives you big belter to the eye! If I can hang on any longer, and I am usually just about to explode with laughter by this time, he will bite me! I really do think that if he knew how to use a bat, he would!! Then, when you "wake-up" he looks at you so cutely as if butter wouldn't melt in his mouth!
Any other time when he just can't be bothered to pussy-foot around, he'll just throw himself onto my face!!!!! But don't you just love them!!
Cat hugs!

Hi Richy,
Come on now - don't get disheartened! And NO, you haven't made a UFO!! Poor bear!
EVERY bear looks a little funny at times when they are being created, especially when they haven't had their faces done, and have ears missing etc. You just have to bring out the character and there are lots of ways to do it, you just need to experiment. As Gina said, maybe clipping some of the mohair, a little at a time, from the muzzle area can help as it shows off the shape of the muzzle and also can show off the nose to a greater extent, helping to create the character of a bear. The size and colour of the eyes can make a big difference too, as can the positioning and size of the ears.
Believe me, I have had bears that I have been unhappy with, but with a little tweaking here and there, it is surprising how things can change. The photos on my monitor are a little fuzzy so I cannot see your little bear too clearly, but it looks quite cute to me. But if you are unhappy, keep cool, and just study it in a day or two. Only make small adjustments to begin with until you are happy. I am sure you will be delighted wih him very soon.
Good luck!

Hi Mindy,

Hi there,
I know I am probably going to sound a bit thick asking this!! But what does the "subscribe to this topic" actually mean at the very bottom left hand corner of a topic page?? How is it different from sending a normal "reply" to something? Sorry, but my brain cells aren't working too well tonight and I'm dying to know when you would use this!!
Many thanks!

I totally agree with everything that has already been written, and in particular with what Samantha has said. You work magic with words and write so brilliantly!  I have really enjoyed reading everything you have to say and I always end up thinking "why couldn't I have said it like that!!"
So thank you Shelli for all your hard work and all the help you have given to everyone. Now you can relax a little and take a well deserved rest ... but not for long we hope!

Hi there,
I am not too sure but the first thing that struck me was that maybe you are not "easing" in the fabric enough. I have patterns where the gusset is longer than the side pieces of the head. When I hand baste the seams together, I have to ease the gusset edge in to fit the edge of the head. The extra fabric in the gusset allows for a little "lift" to the head when eased in the right place. I first of all secure the points together on the gusset and head side where the eyes would be (nose joins forehead) and then secure the gusset and head side piece at the back neck end. I can then easily ease the longer gusset piece to fit the shorter edge of the head piece. I then do the same for the other side. I am not explaining this very well and know I will think of a better way when I have posted!! But I hope you see what I mean!
good luck!

Hello Edie,
Sorry to hear about your ear problems but I do know exactly what you are going through because I am very similar the same at the moment! It's really annoying isn't it? I had a 'flu type bug which started over a month ago and it has left me now with a sore throat and the feeling of liquid swishing around in my left ear! It is particularly noticeable when bending over or leaning forward, but I can also hear like low popping sounds and all sorts of things going on in there! I had to see an ear specialist yesterday about something else, but mentioned the current ear problem but he seemed to think such things would probably return to normal in their own time when it has been related to a virus or something. So that's what I am hoping. I have tried the facial contortions like you, though ending up looking like a mad monkey! And yes, the holding your nose, blowing rubbish made my ear worse too and felt completely blocked!!
I was once told that for an inner ear problem, it is pointless putting any ear drops in your ear, it has to be basically tackled from clearing the tubes from your nose/throat end of things!!
I have heard that steam inhalation can help and have to try that yet and it sounds a sensible thing to do. The steam should help clear the tubes!! I hope yours improves though before your trip. I flew to America once in the throws of yet another flu bug and it affected my ears really badly and couldn't hear properly for the whole of my holiday!
I hope you are soon feeling better Edie and can enjoy your trip.
Take care.
Marilyn
Just a little note to say thank you for your help!
Hugs.

Hi Penny,
You made me laugh this morning!! I'm new here at TT so obviously don't "know" you, but from reading your post, I know we are going to have a giggle! Absolutely love the penguins!! I've been sitting here watching that poor penguin getting knocked over hundreds of times - I'm mesmerized (and stupid!). Look forward to chatting!
Take care.

Hi Maria,
Yes, I am exactly the same!!! Put my glasses on and I can't sew at all! So I am sewing away on close work fine, but then can't see anything a few feet away, so my glasses are going on and off like a yo-yo!!! Complete confusion if I have my contact lenses in because then I just don't know where I am as I need different "reader" type glasses to go over those! I have ended up with two pairs of glasses on top of my head without knowing it and been panicking around looking for them. Then I poke myself in the eye because I think I have my glasses on and I haven't!!! Such fun!!! he He!
Oh, and thank you for your nice comments too!
Take care
Marilyn
