Yes, I still have my first Teddy Bear, Bubba, a little white potbellied bear.  My 5 year old sleeps with him every night now, and around his crooked plastic nose has holes where it's rubbed thin.  He's completely matted, I used to adore the one soft spot he used to have when I was a kid that was under the one armpit of the arm that got smashed down from me sleeping on him.  I used to pet that spot with my finger.  I checked not long ago, it's soft, but not as soft as I remember....

This is an interesting post!  I'm sure I'm of little help, since I'm not really a veteran or one of the well known bear artists, but my clipping is a very gradual process.  I stuff the head before doing any clipping, than I do the actual nose area and light clipping where I know I'm going to want to have the fur shorter.  I'll usually get the general symmetrical shape of the face/muzzle at this point.  Then I needle sculpt, trim, needle sculpt some more if I need to, put the ears on, trim, put in the eyes, trim, embroider the nose, trim.... lol, are we seeing a trend? I don't 'scissor sculpt' all at one time, as the face develops, so does my idea of what the face should look like, thus more sculpting.  I always do my sculpting little by little, so I'm not quite as prone to overdo it.

By the way, I LOVE Fae.....  She is absolutely gorgeous.  Something to strive for, that kind of perfection.... bear_happy

Hi all, I am here....  waiting for my husband to get off of work (at 11:30 and here it is 9 pm).  I don't go out... I'm working on the finishing touches for a bear, and that juuuust about it!

Whata barrel of monkeys I am!

Kimberly W.

BearBottoms

Daphne, so completely awesome!  I have been WAITING to see these bunnies, and you know, I think you did a fantastic job!  I think they are ADORABLE, and that swirly belly button... ha!  I love them both, if I had to pick one, I don't think I could!

You are awesome....

unknown-hummel-3.JPGunknown-hummel.jpgHey all, Thought I'd ask you all, since ya'll have always been able to answer my questions, lol!

My mom sent me a bunch of Hummels to list and sell for her, and I've found the names for all, and the values, etc etc, but this little girl I just can't find!  Not even on the Hummel site!

Please help!

Hee hee, Kim Bee...  Ye be warned! lol

Karen, yes... I don't think I'll be parting with her any time soon!

Hmmm, me thinks Mr. Nekkid No Name needs a black background....  You DO realize that if we keep this up, his name WILL be Mr. Nekkid No Name! lol  bear_wacko

Kimberly W.

I agree, grey background or something neutral.  Something less bold will really bring out his eyes and give the 'peeker' a better idea of his color.  That super bright blue kind of takes away from the focal point - the bear.

At any rate, he's beautiful, and I think you did a great job on shading!  It looks like it's natural.  I have yet to figure out how to do those open-mouthed bears, so I'm always in awe over them!

Kim Bee, Hmmm she must've been hungry; I thought spicy food gave her gas....  bear_whistle

Daphne: OK, you stinker!!  You changed your avatar behind my back!!!!!!!!!!! ha ha  That rabbit wasn't there a minute ago!!  But he's got the look!  And I can imagine you are quite closely resembling him about now!

Kimberly W.

BearBottoms

OK, Daphne, I might be waaaay behind on info here, but what rabbit?  Do you mean the one you did for the movie, because I don't see one.....  bear_shocked Maybe I'm just a dork... if so just tell me to go back to my hole... ha ha  Speaking of rabbits, have you finished Mimzy?  I have been waiting with bated breath for a peek!

Thanks, to the rest of you!  I think Penny did an awesome job!  She got what I was wanting down perfectly, without me having to write a novel about what I like!

Kimberly W.

Oh my goodness, Judi...  BEAUTIFUL!!  I love, love love the eyes, the paw pads, the expression.... need I go on?  My husband was peeking over my shoulder the other day whilst I browsed the bears, and usually he has nothing to say about bears (being a macho, manly-man he needs nothing to do with 'Teddy Bears'....lol) and I clicked on one of yours (which one it was escapes me at the moment) and he goes, "I like that one.... She does really neat faces..."

Laurie,

Several of my family members are still prodding me to give them one of my bears...  And not one of them have gotten one yet.  I am so horrible, but I just have so little time, and trying to make ones to list, plus my commissions, plus my swaps... They're going to have to wait! lol

Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment!  It is SO nice, and never gets old to get positive feedback from a fellow artist.  Here I am wowed by all of you guy's work, and when you say something nice about mine, I think I MUST be doing something right!

Kim B.,
Good to know I'm not alone!  lol  bear_wacko  I've become quite the bear-obsessed since my first peek at your sweet little bears!  Still impressed to this day (how could anyone NOT be!?)!

It's good to know that if I ever need a babysitter for this little girl, I won't have any trouble finding one!

kims-avatar-small.JPGHi all, check out my cool new avatar Penny did for me!  Loooove it!

Oh Laurie, please DO post your pic!  My in-laws keep a picture of me in their basement to keep the rats out....  bear_grin  bear_wacko

Hey Erin, lol! Yeah, you can babysit while I'm at work! ;)

Thanks to all the rest of you for the lovely compliments.  I AM truly smitten by her... I don't know what it is about her little fuzzy face....  She's just oozing with personality to me!  I lay there in bed last night like a little kid, just looking at her and turning her over in my hands and I half expected her to start moving....  I'm nuts....

Kimberly W.

BearBottoms

Oh Daphne!!  I'll admit, I do envy you all the same!!!!

Don't worry, once you are done and look back, you'll say, "I DID do a good job, didn't I?"  After you ship out that package, you make sure you go get sloshed.... ha ha, just joking... maybe.

Kimberly W.

BearBottoms

Thanks, all of you!  My husband at the moment (calling from work on his lunch break) thinks I'm nuts....  But he didn't see her done!!!!!!!

I don't know, I just can't give her up....  Maybe because she gives me that same squishy feeling that Samuel gave me, but I listed and sold Samuel... and was sad to box him up, even though he went to a wonderful home.  So she's going to have to stay here.

Kimberly W.

Ha ha, you rhymed!  Step back, Dr. Seuss....
