Teddy Talk: Creating, Collecting, Connecting

Hi everyone,

It has been so long since I have visited TT. I was asked by a fellow TTer friend to post what I have been up to. I have been working on my other art medium which has taken up a lot of my time.  I was also asked if I stopped making bears. Oh no, not at all!

Hi everyone,

I was asked to post some pictures of what I have been up to. Of course I am happy to show and tell.

Basically I have been very busy sculpting and yes, still making bears, just not as many at this time.
This is a piece I am almost done with. I am working on his base, just can't seem to make up my mind.
I hope you enjoy looking. I have censored a couple of the pictures because he is automatically correct. I have other sculptures, but can't post them all here.  I have another dragon I am working on and a mermaid that I hope to have done soon. A sea dragon and a another woman figure started, and three others in armature stage.

Meet Chappy the Donkey King

Chappy has been sculpted from Prosculpt polymer clay over a apoxie armuture. He is 4 inches tall. He has sheared beaver fur chaps and sheared beaver hair, and in all the right places. 
He is all hand sculpted with hand painted blue shimming eyes and has been lightly blushed in a manly way. 
He has hoof feet, that you can't see because of the beaver fur, there are two pictures that show his feet before they were painted and furred. He has a tail too.

chappy before his hair added and back views, one hand was not done in these. These are just some of my process shots.

with his chaps - still working on getting them to fit right.

dido Wendy, I have talked - (emailed) Brian and Wendy Froud- they are the nicest people. They are really big in the doll world, as you all know.
So, July 1st ---hmmmmm ? can I get it done? I have one I have been waiting to have an excuse to make.

The "bear family network" is at work again,  I was asked to pass along this information.  I am certain many of you knew Lynne.

Also, on a very sad note, one of the major bear collectors and very good friend to many of the artists died yesterday.  Lynne MacDonald, after a long and painful fight with cancer passed away yesterday morning.  She lived most of her life on the East Coast, though the last few years she lived in California and Missouri.  Since you have such a large artist base to contact, especially from the East Coast, I was wondering if you would mind passing this information on to them.  Lynne was a very sweet and kind person and absolutely loved teddy bears and was a great support to teddy bear artists.

Hi everyone,

I thought I would share one of my pieces for the gallery show next week. It is going to be great.

This is one of my sculptures that will be at the show. His name is Tanavar Oakwalker.  He is a tree De Va.

He has been a big job. He was over two months work, between other works of course.  He is made from polymer clay, he is 7 inches tall. His tree is Juniper wood I got last year when I went to Red Bluff, with a sculptured tree house made from apoxie clay.
There is a lot I just can’t capture in photos, there are highlights and techniques I have used to give him a mystical look, that would not show up in photos. He has leaves for wings, that have a shimmer.

Thanks for looking and I hope you like him. I included a few pictures because there is a lot to see on this guy.

It would be hard doing the happy dance and work at the same time.  But I am happy finally the announcement is out. Two months was a long time to wait and keep quite about it.
