Teddy Talk: Creating, Collecting, Connecting

I have felting needles that pull the wool in the opposite direction when you felt. I felted and sculpted Harley's face first the I do the face a second time with the reverse needle to get the effect that you see. Thank you for the nice comments. 

Thank you everyone for liking Harley & Teddy 

Harley is an 11" OOAK teddy bear. His fur is long tan German mohair, He has green eyes, clay sculpted teeth, nose and tongue, needle felted wool face and eyelids that is also reverse felted,wire armature in the legs and arms, lockline in the neck that can be posed, handmade goggles and riding boots, tan and black riding jacket that is lined with cotton fabric that looks like fur. This material is also around the top of his boots and jacket collar. Harley and his teddy bear are riding an antique metal chopper with moving parts.

Pink it really means a lot to me that my artist friends care about me. I find out on Tuesday morning when I see the surgeon what they are going to do. I will let you know what's going to happen. I will probably be in the hospital for a week but I will be able to communicate with everyone via my Ipad. I was just telling my husband this morning that I am tired of having surgeries. I have degenerative disc disease that is genetic. I am going to ask my doctor to fix all of the disc this time so I do not have to go through this again. Thank you so much for your support. 

Pink thank you. I am a little depressed because I just had major neck surgery less than 6 months ago. This is going to be surgery number 12 and the second surgery on my lower back. With my friends and family behind me I will get through this.

Thank you everyone for the congrats. I really do appreciate your support . In December I will also be in the new magazine Kreativ. They asked me to create a bear and pattern for them. The bear is called Bearlou. I had been away from the industry for a long time due to illness and I was not sure if I could make bears again because I have partial numbness in both of my hands and I have to wear compression gloves in order to work. I am grateful that I can still do what I love, make and play with bears. I am probably going to have another surgery next month but I am not going to let that stop me. 

Some of my work has been featured in the German Kuscheltier News Info online magazine. I was in shock when the editor contacted me to profile me and some of my work. They are going to send me an English version in January.

Miya is a 12" white Alpaca OOAK Elephant with hand painted candy apple green German glass eyes, lockline in the neck and trunk, wire armature in both arms, tan leather and white Alpaca tail, green and brown textured fabric in the inner ears, eyelids, all 4 paw pads, teddy bear night shirt with matching teddy bear slippers. She is also holding her bean bag nighttime buddy Giggy the duck.

Thank you Vicki. I am working on a white elephant named Miya. It will take about a week to complete her. I will post a picture when it is finished.

Peanut is a 12" off white and cinnamon OOAK Elephant. She has green German glass eyes, wire armature in both arms, lockline in the trunk and neck areas, inner ears, eyelids, paw tips and tail are soft textured brown upholstery material that looks like real leather, the paw pads are also trapunto, the lower section of the paw pads are cinnamon German mohair that has been shaved, the tip of the tail is also cinnamon mohair, the necklace is green studded leather and brown glass beads. Peanut has an antique gold and multicolored jeweled head band, hand painted features. Peanut is also holding a real peanut.

Dyani is an 8" seated grey and and white tipped OOAK bear. She has German glass eyes, black leather inner ears, paws and partial foot pads, lower paw pads are  grey, white and blacked textured chenille upholstery fabric,white tipped tail tummy and ears, wire butterflies, needle felted grey wool mouth and nose, wire armature in both arms as well as lockline in the neck that you can pose, airbrushed and hand painted features, stuffed with poly fiberfill and metal BB's added for weight. Dyani can sit up or be posed on her back.

Zeeno is a 13" white and gold OOAK mohair teddy bear with 5 joints, green German glass eyes, peach  textured velvet upholstery fabric on the trapunto paws and ears, wire armature in both arms, needle felted face, eyes and nose, all of the features are airbrushed and hand painted, the body is stuffed with poly fiber and metal pellets added for weight. Zeeno has a multicolored string knitted scarf around his neck. All of my bears are designed and created solely by me.

Ozwald is a 18 1/2" OOAK Chocolate Alpaca and cream mohair bear with light amber glass eyes, needle felted face, nose and eyes, 8 joints the neck is double jointed, white textured velvet upholstery material inner ears, purple trapunto paw pads, metal pellets for weight, multicolored hand knitted terry cloth scarf with fringes and a royal blue and gold button on each end. All of the features are airbrushed and hand painted.

Bearzo is a 13" soft and thick black tipped Alpaca OOAK teddy bear with tan needle felted face and eyes, waxed nose, airbrushed and hand painted features, light amber glass eyes, tan textured ultra suede paw pads and ears,multicolored glass heart around his neck on a gold leather rope, metal pellets added for weight, 5 joints.
