My daughter even has high speed - I only have dial up at home - so for once I would have had a better chance of keeping up too!
What time is it over there?
I hope next time they do one they give us a day or two notice - not that that would always help if you have things planned
I'm visiting at my daughter's and we had tickets to go see Phantom of the Opera tonight. It was fabulous but I hated to miss the fuzzy slipper night.
Oh, Hi, Sarahjane!
bummer, looks like I missed the whole thing - hope you all had a good time!
Hi, anyone still here?
Good luck with your new venture, Louise! She is darling! What is she made of ? Porcelain? Vinyl? Do you make the doll too or do you start with a basic plain model and just do the painting? I've seen these dolls on ebay but never did really know how they are made and what the "reborn" means - unless it is like the people who take manufactured Barbie dolls and "remake" them by repainting the features and redoing the hair and outfits, making one-of-kind artist creations out of them.
I think she looks great with brown eyes, Dilu - I like the one with less white showing the best. There is nothing wrong with pushing the envelope - that is what being creative is all about!
My sympathies are with you Brenda -I'm still not all unpacked and we moved FIVE years ago!!! My suggestion is to just work on a box at a time and repack anything that you can't find a spot for - and if it's something that you don't really need or want then have a garage sale in the spring. I find the worst part is remembering where you do put everything - I can still picture in my mind where each thing was in the old house in St. Albert but now I spend days hunting for things here - sometimes not even sure if I still have them or sold them in the garage sale before we left - although lots of stuff I've found when hunting for the next unlocatable item! Anyway, don't stress over it - just do what you can, a little bit a time. As for the company if it is people you really want to see have them come anyway - I'm sure they won't care if things aren't all totally organized yet - I would hope they are coming to see YOU not to be critical of your house and unpacking!
Oh, that was so much fun last time! But I'm away from home til Monday so I hope it's some time after that - sure would hate to miss it!
Great photos Kathleen! Thanks for posting them, it's always so nice to be able to "see" the people we are chatting with.
What a wonderful story, Judi, and great photos of your kids and the incredible kitty! I too am a firm believer in "signs".
Wow, those are fantastic pictures, Paula! Wouldn't we all love to have a sister like that! Course she also had fabulous models to work with too!
Daphne, I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one who hasn't heard boo regarding my ad in the TT section. Of course I don't have a web site but I did give my email address. I was rather proud of how my ad looked but who knows???
That was a great tutorial Jodi, and nice to see how someone else does a mini!
Oh Jenn, don't EVER think that! I missed both your other posts as I haven't been on TT much lately at all as we have had so much company visiting and that has taken all my time. I know how disappointing it is to post something expecting a reponse and to get none but I am SURE it is not personal - just too many other things getting in the way and it is definitely very easy to miss posts with so many on here. Big hugs to you!
Louise, How is the focus if you are shooting other things - like scenes or people ? Is it just with your bears that you are noticing the fuzziness? If so it is likely what Heather said that you don't have the close-up focus on.I always used a tripod with my 35 mm camera but found with the digital I don't need to but you could also try that - or rather than going and buying a tripod just set the camera on something to steady it and see if that helps to test if it is a problem with the camera or not.
Hi Brenda, I've been wondering how things were going with you - glad to hear you are finally about to get all settled again! Good luck with the unpacking and I hope you LOVE your new house!
I also did not get the chance to know Winnie, being relatively new to TT, although I do recall a couple of posts by her. It is so sad to lose someone like this and my prayers and sympathy go out to her husband and family.
Thanks Karen, Sandy, Wendy, Patsy, Judi, Dilu, Jared, for your comments on my bear - everyone is so encouraging, I will really have try more of this!
That is so funny! I am going to send it to my sister who just dotes on her cats - she'll get a kick out of it, I'm sure!
"I noticed a significant improvement in my art when I
Quit making limited editions and started doing mostly one of a kinds and entering themed contests and challenges that spurred me to try things I might not have otherwise. Doing one of a kinds meant I could just do whatever seemed to work on that particular bear (kind of go with the flow so to speak!) and not worry about whether I was going to be able to duplicate it.
I wasn't going to mention this but now after Jenn's comment about going to work not being able to move her head I thought maybe I should. Not sure if it would apply to you Dilu and I don't know what your problem is Jenn but this worked wonders for me.
I was suffering incredible neck pain constantly for close to a year after considerable treatment by doctors, physiotherapists, specialists, etc. for a problem that started from tennis elbow and exacerbated. I even had to quit bear making - well actually that's when I switched to minis - as I couldn't stuff bigger bears as I had no strength in either arm (couldn't lift a coffee cup with either hand at my worst and had to drink my coffee through a straw - how sad is that!) as well as the constant neck pain. Anyway on the advice of a friend I looked into NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropratory Association) Chiropractory and after a series of treatments for about 6 weeks I have been 100% cured of both the arm and neck problems and have been pain free for over 5 years! I have always been a bit leery of Chiropractors as the thought of some of the "cracking spines" etc. seemed scary to me but NUCCA is totally different and nothing is done on spec - you have detailed measurements and X-rays taken first to determine the problem and the manipulation to adjust the upper cervical vertabrae is extremely gentle. Unlike normal Chirpractory you don't have to keep going back every week once you have finished the session. I only go back now if I do something to put my neck out again or if I want to confirm that everything is staying in alignment, and haven't needed any adjustment in a couple of years.
As I said I don't know if this would help either of you, Dilu or Jenn, but it might be another possibility to investigate. The practioners here are very good about telling you up front if they think they can do anything to help you.
Wow, what a great surprise, Kim! It looks like you had a lovely time and that will provide a lot more happy memories than school shopping and laundry - which WILL get done regardless! Jamaica is a such a beautiful island - and if you got to eat any of the local food - isn't it fantastic! I gained 11 pounds in 3 weeks when I was there years ago - doesn't look like you did though - Good for you for staying in such great shape even after 3 kids!
