For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
I agree... eBay is not a great place to be selling and certainly not a good judge of quality and sale-ability of your work. Bearpile is a much better place.
I will however offer a little critiquing because you asked. The bear, design, proportions, etc. are great... both of them. While the fur lends itself well to the vintage look the thick black embroidery yarn and the shiny gold collar do not. Because redoing the nose can be a big job I'd leave it but you might consider some shading around the nose to help blend the light fur with the dark yarn... this will help give it an aged look which a vintagy bear should have... you can't achieve that with mohair density/sparsity (no, I don't think that's really a word!) alone. Some shading around his foot pads will balance the face shading too. If you did want to redo the nose I'd use a brown, thinner yarn. You might also consider a less shiny, less "new" looking collar or accessory around his neck.
Shading and a different collar are easy and quick and might make a big difference! Just my two cents! :)
Hi.
Thanks a lot for the critique, I'll redo the nose and make another collar of a kind, also add some shading,
great advice, I'm glad you did it
Hi all.
Thanks a lot for all kind comments and info. Its years since I last sold bears on Ebay, and then I had pretty good results.
Yes, its hard times - so maybe I should try Bearpile and see if that could help ;)
I'm at Etsy too, but its very hard to get any wievs IMO.
Karen, you gave me the incentive to clean up my bear room and guess what I found....a husband & 2 dogs..I've been looking everywhere for them
Oh dear, that is a good one
my husband and 2 cats has not dissapeared yet....
I always end up going to the store to buy new items because I can't find them in my disorganized craft closet. I really need to tidy mine up too!
most of us do but every time I think of it, a bear has to be done
right NOW
I'm a Danish bear artist and all of my bears is sold to outside of Denmark, most of them living in USA and some even longer away like Japan and Australia.
Its not a problem to send a bear and is takes 8-10 days to be there.
beary regards

Hi.
I had this guy on ebay, but he did not sell - he was prices 75$ + ship
I would like critique and advice if I could improve something or if I just have to relist, what do you think ?
Just let me know, I'm not a cry baby
Hi.
Yes, I do know that we do not pay fee's inside EU that is why I'm hunting a good place in EU to buy
mohair from
Thanks Marianne, very many nice links - I'll check them out.
Do you pay custom fees in Holland too ?
You could as the suppliers to split the order into a number of parcels, you may pay more in postage, but if each parcel is under the customs limit you will avoid the tax.
cheers, G
Yes, maybe I could try that
Hi.
Yes, Probaer is fine too, I have bought there one time I think - must visit them again :D
Through the years I have bought allmost all via Intercal, before the DK custom was so effective
A trip to a big fair, that is a very nice ide too and then I'll bring a big suitcase for mohair
Hi.
Thanks for the links, I'll go checking them out
If you but from Intercal in UK, do the get those fees on top of the price too ?
25% on top of price+ship is a lot and then we get a custom fee too, I just don't like custom
Hi.
Even if I love Intercal, I can't afford to buy there anymore, our custom snap all parcels and put
25% on the price + ship + a high fee
Where is a good place to buy in Europe???
I have seen some, but not as good as Intercal - they have a very good
website with nice photos and good prices, I have not found one as good in Europe yet
Strange when you know most mohair is made in Europe

Hi Eileen.
What can you sew on machine on a 4" bear ? I can only sew by hand in that size
Lisa
:
My smallest mini so far is a mouse, 4" on her extreme tippy toes, and her pattern pieces are tiny. She sewed up beautifully by machine and by hand, and absolutely refused to fray at the seams.
Turning was surprisingly easy, too.
