Hello everyone! I finally got off my duff and took pictures of my latest bears, hehe
. This is Penelope, she's about 6.5" tall, and made from a lovely green mohair that was donated to me sometime back. She's 5 way cotter pin jointed with a wobble head joint for extra posing. I've got her up on bearpile if you want further info and pics, enjoy!

Oh Ann-Marie, he's wonderful! One of these days I'll have to commission you to do a girl bunny for my mum, she's wild about them
"Right guys, let's try that one again, the seal got in the shot...again..."
"I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can, so I can..."
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, it's a puppy huddle!!
Wow, what a well done first bear, he's amazing! I find teddy bears are like potato chips, can't have or make just one
Thanks ladies!
Yep, Sue Ann, it's silk ribbon embroidery on her tummy and foot, very fun to do!
Hey everyone!
Finally updated my avatar, and my blog as well. I'm going to try to post more often on my blog, eesh! Let me know what you think of my new avatar
All good advice! Where I live, the teddy bear market is practically non-existent. I'd have to go to shows in the US, probably in NY, as it's the closest state to me. The Maryland show is further out, but I'd be able to justify my expenses if the show were part of a family vacation, and not the main event where I'd have to worry about recouping my costs. I may try a show in 2012, as my health is just not good enough to withstand doing a show this year. I will keep all of the tips and the advice you creative geniuses have given me for when I do venture into the world of teddy bear shows, thank you!
Oh wow, Kelly, those are magnificent!!!
The colours are just stunning, fantastic work!
Wow, she's amazing!
He's amazing Ann-Marie! I especially love his flippers/feet!
Thanks everyone for the advice, much appreciated! I wonder if bringing a few spare bears for if a few leave your table is a good idea? Especially if your doing a two day show? Hmmmm. Things to ponder!
Hi All!
I need some opinions from anyone who's done a show before. I'm pondering doing a show, if not this year, than the next, and I want to know what is a good number of bears to have at a show? I need to stockpile an inventory starting now if I'm going to be able to do a show in the future. Thanks very much for your imput!

I'll give it a whirl Donna, thanks for the tips and advice!
I think he's quite a dashing little fellow, excellent work
Yes, it's one of Paula Carter's bears, Intercal uses it's picture for a reference guide for the mohair colour, I just borrowed it It' doesn't look especially tie-dyed to me, mind you I'm thinking of those crazy hippy shirts from the 60's when I think of tie-dying, so I may be confused
Hello fellow TTer's! I tried looking in the library, but only found a fraction of the information I'm looking for. I want to dye some mohair different colours with a varigated or mottled look. I've included a picture of the effect I'm looking for, as pictures are easier to follow than my rambling explanations, lol. If anyone has done this before, please let me in on the secret!
Thanks much!
Shannon
P.S. I got the pic off of Intercal for reference, in case anyone recognized it
"That's MY ball, you big bull-y!!"
Marianne, thank you very much! I could do both, if you're ok with that. I don't need a full yard, heck, I think I could even make do with 1/8th of a yard, as I'm fairly adept at puzzling all the pieces together for a tight fit, lol. Do you want me to pay you for it? Let me know
Donna, I had a look and may order some of that when the budget allows, it's a bit pricey for me Thanks for looking it up for me, I appreciate it!
Thanks julia, that looks close to what I'm looking for!
Hey everyone!
The health is improving, slowly but surely, yay! I had a fantastic idea for a bear whilst at the Dr.'s today, but I've yet to see the mohair I need to make it. I'm looking for a white, off-white, or even ivory mohair with gold thread shot through it. I'd prefer a sparse mohair, or even semi-sparse...I'm keener on those than I am the thick mohairs, but I'll take what I can find
. If anyone has any, I'd be willing to buy some of it off you. Or, if anyone knows of a website selling it, please point me in the right direction
Thanks much!
Shannon
Bubble-hog!! Too cute!!
We're a frosty -16C here, with a windchill of -23C....starting to get dark, so I'm betting on a temperature drop to make it even colder, bleeck! Claire, can I come stay with you?!?
Thanks again everyone for the kind words and the uplifting support. It's going to be a rocky road to recovery, but at least I'm on it, woo hoo!!
Daphne, I'll see you in NY, looking forward to it!
