oh my gosh gina!! soooo adorable! i love it!! awesome job!

Ooomph!! It's HUGE!!!  Are we sure no re-sizing is allowed?  I hand-sew all my stuff [don't know how to use a sewing machine] and I'd love to downsize this to participate in the challenge...but sewing summat that big would take too long!!

that is big? well, if it is, go ahead and re-size....the pattern should fit on an 8.5 x11" piece of paper, though...

wild cat dancer: So we can use any material, can we change the eyes and nose?

yeah, change the eyes and nose to suit you!

gina: Truth be told, it's a quick little sewing job!

yeah, i tried to make it a simple pattern for my sewing stars customers who don't have as much experience sewing as all of you guys do! i can't wait to see!! you must post those pictures!  bear_grin

hey aleta!

that is so true about people doing all different things with the very same pattern! i have a booklet i had printed up of 5 of my patterns, and have had people e-mail me pictures of what they have done with it, and it so funny to see all the different variations.

i will look into that challenege...sounds awesome, i would LOVE to see what all of you would do!

well, if you call the call center they are really super helpful! i had to update info, and it wasn;t working because it was linked to an ancient e-mail address that no longer existed. but over the phone they verified my info, and fixed it no problem! i know this was a like a year & 1/2 ago...i hope that the call center is still that nice! couldn't hurt to try...

"little freddy"

well, i am running out my first batch of mohair i ordered, so i decided to use up some of my smaller pieces, and made this little guy last night!

it was quite a challenge at 4", and he still needs some detailing...plus i want to make him a itsy bitsy felt toy too. but i thought this was a cute pic and wanted to share with you!

sewing stars

where did you get the mohair? LUV IT!!

wow, thank you! and in answer to your question, this mohair is from christiebears.co.uk and i hand dyed it...

peter_02.jpg

i think 4" (minus the ears) is considered mini, right? well i made this little guy and finished him last night finally. i have to say, i am extremely impressed by just how small you mini bear makers can make them!! i had the most difficult time sewing this little guy up!

hello wiser than i ebay sellers,

i haven't sold anything on ebay in quite some time, and i am getting a little worried about getting paid by the purchaser of my bear from monday...this person has since bid and paid for other auctions, but has yet to pay on mine...i sent this person 2 invoices. is it annoying to also follow up with an e-mail? am i being too impatient? bear_ermm

thanks for any advice you might have for me... -teresa

oh man, that sucks. my poor hands look like i work the fields, but really it is just me stabbing my self with pins and needles all the time. i often yelp out in pain...take care of your finger! be sure to keep it nice and clean, and i bet it will be better in no time!

sewing stars

like i said over at flickr, she is awesome! you did a wonderful job!!

sewing stars

i LOVE them!! they are so beautiful! you amaze me with your creations!

ebay_bernard.jpgebay_bernardf.jpg

i made bernard last night. i am not too sure if he 'looks' like he is in my style or not. i feel like he came out looking a lot like the arano cafe bears, or peng peng bears...maybe you all could give me some feedback on him...

sewing stars

And even if someone makes bears similar to mine, this is an individual and creative process, so it would take a very, very skilled copycat indeed to make them precisely like mine...

coming from the 'hip crafty' community, i see the copyright/copycat issue come up quite a bit. and i think that what you are saying about it being totally individual to each person is a really important point. see, i can sell my patterns to someone else to make but it certainly won't look the same. it seems strange to me that anyone would purposely try to replicate another artist's teddy bear down to the finest detail, let alone be able to even do it!  since each person brings their own hand and mind to each creation, i think that most people are striving to make something unique to themselves.

sewing stars

i added my name to my signature, since i am new, you guys just have to tell me if there is something you are accustomed to like the name thing! thanks for letting me know!  bear_grin

i really liked seeing what people have listed so far as sites they like. i have been taking classes this year to learn webdesign programs, and have a ton of sites linked that i adore...so i know these aren't teddybear sites, but i like the design of them, and think their principles could be applied to teddy sites too...

mahardrygoods.com
this is new site i just came across the other day...the illustrator is a girl i am aquaintances with, jen corace. i like how the shop is organized, and the sort of at home feeling it has.

smallandround.com
this is an illustrator who's art i adore, but i love his overall color scheme, and find it easy to navigate and pretty too.

16sparrows.com
i also like the overall look of her site. the tiny icons, and sort of vintage look made modern. plus her cards super cute!

ebay_camilla08.jpgebay_camilla01.jpgebay_camilla05.jpg

this is camilla. i made her from some shulte mohair that i hand dyed the magenta color. it was so much fun to dye mohair! i made her a reversible dress. the brown dress side is meant for playtime in the garden, and the sage dress side is for when she has to attend a garden party in style. i also made her a little felt carrot to munch on.

ebay_camilla04.jpgebay_camilla03.jpg

i just wanted to share her...thanks for all the inspiration on the boards! i have been learning so much, and really been enjoying seeing all your amazing creations!

sewing stars

wow, i love your bear! it so wonderful!! i am in awe...
